Virtual LM Junior say that they make from scratch the mod and I guess this is the reason for this delay. But the car list above which is the full grid of the 1983 LeMans race is more than exciting. They also say that they will also include some earlier and later models from the years 1977 to early 90s. 8-)

  • Cheeveer

Nothing really seems “Junior” with this anymore.

  • Bec

    Awesome! I can’t wait. =-X

  • RJC_pt

    Wow, just wow

  • sho’nuff

    Other than the wait?

  • Magnus

    Very nice, Virtua_LM Junior Team!

    WHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAT??? HELL YES!

thank you thank you thank you thank you thank you a thousand times thank you!!!

  • Carbonfibre

I’m too young to appreciate these cars fully, but it’s a damn fine list. We’ve waited this long for it though, might as well come out for rF2 and join the ranks of elite mods that outclass commercial games.

  • Spacekid

    Thx for the carlist.

  • mak mak
  • Ricota

    Where is the Sabuer C9?
    Where is the Mazda 757B?
And, I wanna see the IMSA GT´s cars in this mod

  • mak mak

maybe it will be in the extra cars included (see my post down in the bottom)

  • mike88

usually car list means mod is ready to be released

*jumps in air doing fist pump*

  • jimmy

Great, but I would be absolutely contented with just slightly overhauled conversion from F1C. How many people will be able to run full grid of these cars on full details anyway? I don’t watch my competitor’s cars in game attentively, there’s no time for it. Virtua_LM could release the direct conversion of their F1C a long time ago (not too much work about it I think) and then they could work on this. Few years ago everyone was laughing at jokes that this mod will be available just for rF2, but now we see that jokes become reality.

  • mak mak

You are right. A conversion is not that hard. And I feel too that it will be available for rf2 eventually. Which is not a bad thing of course to have such a mod from the beginning!

  • JGoenR

    Nice list. But where’s Sauber C9? :’(

  • Ryan Marc Joseph Callan

Very nice, and of course when/if it is released it will kick ass.

  • Bubb Rubb

I really enjoyed this mod in F1C, this should be great.

  • Papichulo

Too many years waiting a release of GruppC mod from VLM.
I believe it when i see it, sorry

I can understand this project has a lot of work, but i must to be patient before to be exited.

  • Raymond Tsui

    No Sauber C9? I’m disappointed.

  • Pain-less

It’s been over 2 years since this mod was announced and today we get a car list.   =-X

  • Explosive Face

I contacted a member of Virtua-LM, and he revealed that this will release alongside Half-Life 2 Episode 3, which also happens to be coincident with the rapture.

  • Deano

Hope there will be templates released of all the cars, I’ll be a painting fool. :)

  • rci808

    just gimme that 956 man!

  • nofx

    46 cars expected

    5 cars finished

lol, the best vaporware so far  :-$

  • dknine

massive car list, great project virtua_lm, can’t wait to drive these badboys ! 8-)

  • O11

Damn, too bad we’ll be racing RF2 at the time this comes out. They’d better be preparing to convert this to RF2 right away.

  • John DiFool

Umm the C9 was introduced in 1987…

  • Eduardo

good news. Too bad was not the 1991 season.

  • BeckMax

    Hahahaha!!

  • jimmy

    LOOOL!!!  :-D

  • jimmy

They are aiming to release this as rF2 mod AFAIK…

  • Bjorn

No, a conversion is no big deal… Yeah it is, if you want it done right!

  • Nestor Martin

Modding is Art! Whether it’s better than commercial content or not! They do it for free, just out of passion. Emotions traveling from one human being to another.
Of course I would like to have it all as soon as possible, and of best quality possible. Of course the public is very critical about it. And yes it’s classic, in art everybody is doing good money except the artist, I know what I talking about.
So keep on going it makes our world a bit better.
And it would be great to have something to drive on Le Man.

  • Justin ForzaBarça D’Cruze

BMW M1, gonna have to be good to top the procar mod 8-)

I do wish I was around for Group C and I didnt have to google most of them, they seem like truly amazing cars.
Sure beats the diesel LMP crap I see these days. Call me crazy but a race car should not sound like a tractor.

  • Firefox

Didn’t know you were a part of the VLM team as you seem to know more than most of us…

  • Firefox

Neither of those cars ran in 1983-1984.

  • Firefox

    Bjorn is right.
If you look at VLM tracks and cars what do you see?
    The answer is quality!
Does the now 6-7 year old models of F1C scream quality to you? No they don’t!
They are not bad models at the time they were great but graphics has stepped up since 2003 and I’m happy that VLM decided to make things from scratch and to bring the Group C cars to the quality they deserve and not just make some 1 month conversion with badly distorted sound…

  • Papichulo

With all my respect about V_LM work (for free and on his spare time) I think is most accurate to release also a list of more or less finished cars, to have an aidea of the global progress.

If not, this kind of news only serves to increase the anxious of sim fans…

  • Firefox

    It didn’t run until 1987.

  • GDD

    And wait for rF2…

‘Mulsanne’ Mike Fuller of Mulsanne’s Corner cowrote an excellent book on Group C titled ‘Inside IMSA’s Legendary GTP Race Cars’, which covers at least the American side of Group C in some great detail. Well worth the read if you want to know more about the cars, although Euro-only stuff like the Saubers aren’t covered.

  • O11

    OW, that’s awesome!

  • Georgeo

I was flamed for my last post about this mod, so to set the record straight, this is an amazing car list and I am still looking forward to release. Given the quality of Virtua LM’s work I’m certain this will set the standard for rF mods, much like it did for F1C.

The big question now is, when?

    georgeo

  • VLM

    Argo JM16
    Ford Mustang
    March 82G
    March 83G
    March 84GMarch 85GPorsche 935 K3
    Porsche 936 turbo
    Tiga GT284

    I hope…

  • uho

    mastung GTP
    ?????

  • turbocharged

no marchs ??? whats the point in waste time with 911 and m1 and dont even release one single version of the most beultiful and classic gtp car ever ?

  • Ding Dong

It amazes me how some people only seems to be reading ‘V_LM MOD GTP/Group C Carlist’…. *sigh* It clearly says the following ‘The mod centers around the 1983 & 1984 sports car racing seasons, a time when both privateer and manufacturers interest helped the new Group C formula to become popular’
Thus no GTP machinery on the list, if you love the March cars that much you should know that they never raced in europe(If I understand you correctly you are referring to the March 84G which ran in america)

  • Blackjack

    Neverending Story continues :P

Seriuosly, it’ll be much better if they stop the whole project and publish what they’re done (if they have done… but i’m pretty sure that they have a lot of materials in thier PCs…). I’ll prefer to know “this mod will be keep as privat for VLM team”, but they don’t have the balls to tell it…
VLM Jr is smaller than VLM Team (F1 Ch) and no one, i repat NO ONE has think about to realeased the mod like for F1 Ch, by packages…

I prefer much more Enduracers team, in one year they made a great SP adding a lot of materials for this huge project…

Even, i have to admitt that somewhere in me, there’s a febile hope to see the other protos of Gruop C mod for F1 Ch, but it’s really flebile…

  • HarryCS

Sorry, I´d had loved to add Marches, Mustang GTP, Lola T600, Probe GTP, more Jaguars etc.etc…..
    but don´t have the time.
As for why, I wanted to create the full 1983 LM field. It was my decision and I hope you can enjoy the mod anyway, whenever it´s done.

  • turbocharged

as long as i know, they entered the march 84G in the 1984 Le mans… in fact in 84, they had that that ”groupe gtp” class. so if they said the mod centers in the 1983 & 1984 sports car racing seasons they should have the March84G.

  • anon

They are modelling just the C1 and C2 classes of the World Sports Car Championships of 1983 and 1984.
As you’ve said yourself, the March 84G was a GTP car, not a category C car, so it would be in the wrong class.

  • turbocharged

my point is, i rather see some classic gtp than 911′s and m1′s.

  • intelpower

Mr. HarryCD maybe you should have cut the Harrier from the list since it didn’t qualify and do the March 84G from Le Mans 1984 instead  but now what’s done is done  , looking foward to the mod

  • GeraArg

Le Mans 1977-1985  Fuji   Mid-Ohio  Rouen Les Essarts   Four of the BEST tracks available for rFactor in five years, anyone know any other team who gave a four kickass tracks in only five years?   ;)  Keep working VLM  Junior. :-P

  • Fudge factor

    feeble

  • Eddie J

Omg wonderful cars there! Must be converted to GTR Evo after it’s release! :P

  • manimal27

I am hopeful this might be released on RF not just RF2, but the promise was always RF2.

These guys are amazing modders but I do feel a bit frustrated that they often release things with little possibility of a release or any news.

At least other modders will give you some idea, these guys are just very defensive when anyone criticises them about this fact.

  • Couragecougar

Yes, in fact March cars run in Le Mans for quite some time…

    Kreep Kauly, Metaxa, Nissans…

  • AmTGMan

Unless I missed a news post, wasn’t this always meant for RF1?

  • Ding Dong

actually it would be better if they made it for rF2 as its not that far away!

  • Rex Cramer

Actually it’s 4 years… the project was started in January 2007, and since then has switched it’s goal several times. And judging by how much traffic about this topic has been at vlm forum in past 2 years I’d say this has become vaporware since mid 2008 at least.

And there’s most probably a very simple reason for this: far too much ambition for far too few people doing the work. As that list of cars easily proves
