OK. Comparing a couple years old game with a stil developing game. That is just stupid.

Although pCARS is graphically much more advanced, i like the less saturated true to life look of GT5 alot more. I hope this will get adjusted in pCARS for the future.

GT5 looks unreal in this video, almost unrecognizable from a real life TV onboard. pCARS on the other hand still looks like a videogame.

If you think rain is fake, I agree, but as rain is real, then the rain and windscreen effects of Pcars is better.
The road looks too wet on Pcars, but then the road on GT5 just looks grey, not wet.
Admittedly, the west weather atmosphere on GT5 is better, I still prefer and think that Pcars has the superior looks. Less reflections on the road surface and more fogging and a darker environment would tip it in Pcars favour, but that rain on the front and side windows in GT5 is awful!

Its both sad and amazing that GT5 from over 2 years back on over 8 year old hardware looks better then the best PC can offer… :( :)

One is a finished and polished 5th generation game and one is alpha. (yeah that old line again, but it must be taken into consideration).
IIRC pCars does have the rain hitting the windscreen and the wiper taking it away but I don’t think that is applied to all cars yet.

You really have to hand it to Polyphony. Sure theres the premium/standard debacle and the wonky online connectivity among others, but once you look at what GT5 can do as opposed to what it can’t, that, is when GT5 really surprises you.

GT5 looks better. period.

I hope that on the next GT, PD can forget that 1000 cars nonsense and release a good rooster of 200-300 vehicles that matter on great quality. See a lamborghini countach being treated as sub-par standard quality, while a suzuki cappucino is a premium, is an insult to any car/racing enthusiast. And no rehashed ps2 tracks please.

OK that is clear gt5 looks better. No rain comming on the window of GTR and the wiper is hardly moving… With rain… Yeah sure… But cars there road looks good

GT5 is still the best in the rain. Not so much in driving dynamics, but man… I remember a Super GT race, I had the NSX GT500 (<3) in complete monsoon conditions at Suzuka. Couldn't see anything, particularly as I came up to lap the slow as can be AI. I hope someone can get to that level on PC.

Because right now… it's still kinda all about GP4 for rain racing. :(

I just want to say, GT5′s rain on windshield effect is amazing… way ahead of it’s time. and for pCars, I love the way the road reflects the rainy puddles because makes you feel extra weary when you drive faster. In GT5, the way the horizon bleeds out the colors to gray for that overcast effect seems more realistic than pCars saturation correction or whatever it’s called.

Actually F1-2011 and I guess F1-2012 has amazing rain effect with bad visibiility. Just a shame it doesn’t satisfy the purist sim-racers.

Yep pCARS needs 2 wiper speeds like rF2.

All those leaving graphical comments, I think the entirely different time of day may be throwing some of you off.

GT5 = Better wet windshield…
pCars = Better wet road…
And WMD has plenty of time to get it right.

I think some people need to move away from the screen and go experience real life from time to time. GT5 does look good but it doesn’t even compare to the realism of the textures and especially the light quality in project cars. I am not a particular fan of either but I know what the world looks like when it rains and thats not it on the right. The feeling of depth in the car is very impressive as well. GT5 looks good for its age but it definitely looks like a moving view with a car visual overlaid on it rather than being inside an actual moving vehicle. The main issue with pcars is the rain on the windscreen looks like a rapid series of white lines being drawn on but that may just be the quality of the youtube video.

GT5 may look slightly better but wet weather is wasted in that game since almost everyone online doesn’t like racing in the rain… or pretty much anytime where they can’t use Racing Softs.

In this video GT5 indeed looks still very convincing and can still submkt a very natural atmosphere.

pCARS is changing between natural and artificial depending on weather conditions and also depending on whether an (exaggerated set up) injector is used.

ATM, the ambiance and global lighting are still in GT5 side… but pCARS have a big advantage over GT5, contrary to Kaz’s dictat, it’s a first time ever community effort done by and for virtual racing fans, and if you have seen the evolution from last year, it will be even better in one year for the release!

pCars graphics are still under discussion on the forum. Don’t you wish you could add your 2 cents? To bad, to late.

Regardless of its state, pCars today has the best visuals of any PC sim so far. It might and will most likely improve to the final version due in over 6 months. But in this comparison, in my view, GT5 looks more realistic.

GT5 runs in full HD (or in 720p 3D) as opposed to any other console driving sim/game and does it smoothly with better visuals. Its really a benchmark of what is possible with time, budget and talented developers!

It will be extremely interesting to see what they can do with GT6 running on the PS4!

It will indeed. As will seeing pCARS 2, Assetto Corsa 2 and rFactor 3, assuming any one those will have sequels at all :)

PCars looks more colourful in the rain. In the sun its the other way around, where GT5 looks more vibrant. Hoping the roles will change!
