Project CARS – Imola Reality Check + Gallery

Following the comparison video of Bathurst, WMD team-member BSNismo has released a new track reality check video of Sligthly Mad Studios’ Project CARS title.

The new video gives us the chance to compare the title’s Imola circuit with real life footage. Furthermore, Slightly Mad Studios have released a big batch of previews that have been made by various team members, using the title’s free camera mode.

The previews show various cars and tracks that Project CARS members get to enjoy in the current development builds, including sports cars, open wheelers and historical Formula machinery.

Team Membership starts at a one-time payment of 10€ for Junior access to regular development builds. For more info on pricing and benefits of membership, check out the WMD website.

    Holy moly!  Looks bootiful.

  • Niksounds B

looks good, but the thing is good if the bumps sensation will be reproduced

So this is what rFactor 4 will look like…

Seriously, its becoming too much, call me when the game is finished(á la rFactor 2) instead k thx bye!

I wish they would put more effort on the engine/psysics rather than graphics. it already looks good enough, and there is enough content already to use to test the ‘sim’ side of it.

It’s all too similar to NFS:S2 still – almost exactly the same if you try the Caterham back to back.

Man i wish my pc could run this…

  • badracer

You are wrong. The physics are already far better than SHIFT. With the new update, the Caterham is a completely new car.

  • Ross Siggers

The physics are getting there. Once they finish working on the input lag eradication, it’ll be ace.

I disagree with that, but whatever, it’s not like my opinion can make/break the game. :) I’m a paid up WMD member, and I’ll continue to try the builds, but it’s far far away from being a proper competitor for the ‘big boys’ yet imho.

Looks so real.  Now let physics will be equally realistic.

Alex, where did you get the idea that the only work going on was to the graphics and not to the physics ?

The graphics engine was already there and that’s why it’s further advanced than other areas.
Physics take a while longer especially as more cars are being added all the time.

It’s how the development will be, it’s not a bad thing but quite normal.

Though it almost ‘melts’ my semi-high end pc, it is exciting to be a part of it (creation) in this pre-alpha stage. It feels like Christmas every Friday morning.

Cars handling in CARS is still very “shiftish”.
    Unpredictable !!!

It definitely looks stunning but having played Shift 2 I’m holding out for rFactor 2.

  • utdtud uygfyuifiy

Do  you think project CARS is like Shift? No, it’s not! Shift is only an arcade pCARS is a simulator.

Looks awesome, let’s hope it feels the same too! :D

I just wanted to give an advice to your SHIFT-opinion. Maybe it can´t compete with the big ones, yet. But it´s already far better than SHIFT 1 + 2.

  • http://profiles.google.com/conticreative Marco Conti

Attention all: this is not Shift. I have Shift 1 and 2. Thankfully this is not even remotely Shift.
In Shift the cars drive like someone forgot a few bolts in rebuilding the car. Not the case here.
In Shift there are all sort of annoying things before and after the races. Not here, and hopefully they won’t add any.

Above all, in Shift2 the controller delay makes the cars undrivable. They have fixed that in pCARS (which means they could fix it in Shift as well if they wanted to) since the second release.

This is still, and will continue to be an Alpha release. So it’s not nearly as polished as a finished game. But it can already be counted among the best driving sims along with iRacing, NKpro and the best of rFactor mods. I believe the final product will be so far superior to rFactor as to be preposterous even bringing it up as a credible comparison.

As far as how it will compare with rFactor 2 or the upcoming GTR3, no one knows, but I don’t believe in exclusivity when it comes to sims. If there are 3 or 4 sims people cannot agree which is best, you better believe I will buy them all and stop the controversy right there.
My only complaint about pCARS is that I can’t wait until we’ll be able to try racing online.

Only a few more hours for the next build ;)

  • http://www.facebook.com/laurent.cortier Laurent Cortier

Good to read something written by someone who actually uses his own brain to think…
    Thanks a lot Marco !

Of course we should all like all sims ! Why everybody tries to pick one above all the others ALL the time is beyond me… Stop thinking in elitist terms, that’s why the whole mankind is in a deep mess right now. Start thinking about collaborating with each other instead of competing, then we’ll see who’s really helping the community and we’ll be able to weed out the parasites… (banks, corporations, governments and… trolls :D)

WE’RE ALL IN THE SAME BOAT, PEOPLE, PLEASE STOP TRYING TO SINK IT !!!

So much for reality, no monument to senna where he crashed in this version…

  • Ricoo

I disagree. With patch build 108, I found Caterham physics very good and predictable. I agree with build 106 it was not the case.

    you are kidding, right?

  • http://www.facebook.com/kris.baxter2 Kris Baxter

can anyone tell me the music track in the menu, and what rfactor mod is it from? I can’t remember and its bugging the hell out of me.

  • Boss Player

I have a question about liveries.. Do you know if it will be possible add custom skins for free like Gtr2/rFactor or they’ll charge for that? I’m not a big fan of paying to use my own custom stuff.

  • http://www.facebook.com/B0BBACK Bob Back

Is this going to have a good simulation handling like rFactor?

  • http://www.facebook.com/B0BBACK Bob Back

Looks like i already found the answer to my question. Then rFactor 2 + P CARS for 2012! :D
