Project CARS – Caterham First Look

Slightly Mad Studios have released new previews of their continue sly-evolving Project CARS title, giving us a first look at the Caterham R500 Superlight.

The Superlight is one of three fully-licensed Caterham models that will be featured in Project CARS. Below are first previews of the virtual version, showing off the detailed suspension and exhaust.

Every interested sim racer can become member for a one-time price of 10€ to enjoy monthly development builds and up-close access to follow the development progress of Project CARS. For more info on pricing and benefits, check out the WMD website.

    I love the fact that pCARS is coming in with these type of license deals. This will fill in quite a nice hole left by iRacing (which I love) only offering a fairly limited number of normal production cars. Now, my biggest hope, is that I will actually be able to feel a significant difference in the behavior between the Atom and the Catheram, which is where many games like GT5 and Forza disappoint me (not being able to feel subtle handling/braking/performance differences between very similar cars)

    Dunno if I call a Caterham a ‘normal’ production car ;)

    I get what you mean, though, few of the cars in iRacing are ‘streetable’. Actually, the three with the fewest roadgoing differences are the miata, solstice, and radical but all three are on race tires (plus the radical is missing the headlights and other street legal additions). I actually would love it if the put the miata roadster on the street compound they run in Japan, apparently some of the drivers there use their race cr as a daily driver :)

    Of course, that’s just a design philosophy difference in that iRacing is just race-prepped cars, so you’re right that pCARS could be a decent choice for the iRacer who wants to drive road cars (depending on physics, of course).
