It’s not mentioned as a fix in the list but I’m hoping I can play this one as build 91 never let me in.

  • Mark Szell

so how does this work? im a junior member so i get to play a build every month right? which build is that the last in that month or what? and i will have to redownload the new build or just patch? Btw the game look cool so far.

  • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=557052351 Damon Clewlow

You get the very latest build on the first Friday of every month for the Junior Membership.

As far as I know they’re fairly hefty patches.

  • Nathan Robinson

Hey Mark, for the time being you have to go to control panel and remove CARS. Then you go to the downloads tab at wmdportal.com and download the new build which is the full build. They aren’t patching it yet :)

  • Anonymous

You don’t have to remove old builds manually, the installer checks whether an old build is installed and will remove it for you.

  • Nathan Robinson

    good to know :)

  • Adrian Herrera

I’m curious to know how well will this run on my pc.. anybody can give me a clue?

    specs:
intel core 2 duo E7500 overclocked at 3.3
    ati radeon hd5770 1gb
    2gb ram

  • lee ross

This sim is literally taking over my gaming time.

  • Maciej Kosmalski

i have pentium dual core E6600 at 3,06
    geforce gts 450
    2 GB RAM
and its rather unplayble even on lowest details. Even when im alone on the track it has drops to below 30 fps and freezes couple times on every lap. And its on less demanding track like conecticut hill. On Imola you wont be able to pas pit stops without framerate droping below 20. With AI its even worst as you can imagine:) So i doubt you will be able to make normal race with your specs.

  • Adrian Herrera

thanks.. i will wait for the final release and i hope i can upgrade my computer by then.

  • http://www.facebook.com/Siggers Ross Siggers

    Adrian my PC is similar to yours;

    Phenom II x2 550BE 3.1Ghz (unlocked to x3 and OCd to 3.6Ghz)
    2x2Gb DDR2 1066Mhz ram
    1Gb XFX HD5750

I can generally run medium to high details in 1920*1080, and hover around 30 fps. I can get higher in a lower resolution.

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Alex-White/655487760 Alex White

    Similar – ish again.

    Athlon X6  - 2.8GHZ
    4GB Ram
    1GB 5770

Runs a 40-50 with medium details – turn a few things down, or off and it gets above 60 :D

  • Kevin Westendorf

ive tried to drive this sim with 5760×1200 (triple 24″ screen) and its a ridiculous slide show.  i cant get over 15-20 FPS.   how can they expect people to not run triple screens?….I feel I wasted my money until they do something to optimize it…….iRacing i get 55-60 FPS with all on high (AA2x 4x in CCC)
    My specs:
q8300 Quad Core 2.5ghz running at  3.4 ghz (overclocked)
    ATI 6950 2 GB Card
    650 watt PSU
    8 GIGS Muskin Ram
    3 24″ Samsung 1920×1200 monitors

anybody else have this problem?  I feel my system is good enough…but i could be wrong.
I even tried turing everything to low, but still completely unplayable.  I dont see myself turning off two of my monitors to just drive.

    Any advice?

    Thanks

    Kevin

    Works this time.

You expect a game in early development to be optimised?
You were not sold a finished game, you joined the development process.

And comparing performance to iRacing is pointless. Obviously a game with much simpler graphics, that is also finished and optimised, is going to require less resources to run.

  • http://www.facebook.com/Siggers Ross Siggers

Poor performance in triple screens is a known issue, but it’s hardly high on the list of things to do. Drop down to a single screen if your fps is low.

  • badracer

Next time, you should read, what you spend your money for……pre-alpha, release next year. How can you expect to get a full optimized triple-screen mode in this stage?

  • Maciej Kosmalski

dont know how you are able to get such fps with your specs. Maybe its my 2gb ram thats causing me troubles. I have usually around 40-60 fps on lowest but as i said before i get drops to 20 something couple times a lap. It freezes for a second, in game fps counter shows that i had drop to 20 fps and then it gets back to 40-60 fps. It only takes about a second but makes driving very unpleasant. Also at start of the race i have around 20-25 fps with all the cars in one place.
I will be getting 2GB RAM more probably next week and will se if it helps.

i run a lower spec pc with eyefinity 6040 x 1080 and manage 55 – 60fps now with some massaging of the settings

DX11 is a slideshow for mei too had major fps issues at first and refused to go back to single display :)set all in CCC to app controlled and performance (gives me a solid 80+ fps in iracing)in game:vsync offtexture quality to high (i have found its actually slower on lower)4 x AFno aaeverything else to lowand stay clear of the normal cockpit view until they optimize it on most of the cars. you will find 2 of the camera views give waaay better fps, once you adjust the seat pos and fov correctly for these views its sublime. the view i prefer in this sim atm isthe good thing is it will no doubt get better but as has been said, they dont seem to be focusing on us eyefineons yeti just finished a drive in iracing and jumped straight on cars and the difference is astounding really. iracing actually feels quite flat and the cars very very lifeless. if only iracing had this level of immersion it would sweep the floor in simlandclearly BIG things to come from the CARS project if it keeps improving like it doesanyways, hope this helps some

freezes or stuttering does usually indicate lack of memory. Download GPU-Z and look under the sensors tab, some ATI cards now show you how much VRAM is being used, and also check in task manager to see how much system memory is used while running cars.

  • Maciej Kosmalski

    thx mate. Will try it.

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Peter-Ball/1280730886 Peter Ball

    C2D6400 oc to 3.0Ghz. HD5770 2GB OCZ Ram 550W PSU.
35ish frames (cockpit) in DX11 2xAA medium settings 1680×1050. Somewhat less in DX9 for some reason. Generally use the ’58 formula car.

You would be doing yourself a disservice to miss out on having your voice heard in the development process and playing a pretty blinding game even in it’s pre-alpha stage (IMO of course)

  • Guilherme Cramer

iRacing has some building with a ton of polygons and higher textures very far away or in areas that aren’t needed whereas closer buildings/modeled work are quite the opposite. The gloves are about 4 times higher resolution than the driving suit, even better than the helmet.

    iRacing is Not optimized :P.

  • Richard Hessels

Don’t compare CARS to framerates you get in rFactor, Simbin’s or iRacing.

It’s useless, as all previous racesims are based on ancient graphics technology, compared to CARS.
Don’t even think that with a medium level system you can run a game like cars on it’s highest settings over 3 screens as smooth as you do the other sims.

By the time CARS comes out it will not run much smoother, but our hardware will be twice as powerfull.

To run this on 3 screen at it’s highest setting you need a crossfire or SLI setup.
Processor is not so important anymore at these ultra high resolutions.

Here is a small movie i made today :)

iRacing don´t use any high polygon objects. Even the cars don´t have high polygons.

I understand this……but i cannot even run it at a lower triple screen resolution and lowest settings………i turned everything down.  that is is why i was asking if this is the case……..ill take all the jaggies in the world with missing objects and crowds….i just want to feel these “AMAZING” physics i payed money for.

  • Anonymous

thanks for the replies…..didnt realize there was a reg edition and a DX11 edition.  i will try the regular version.

Im not doggin the CARS project in anyway.  Im all about it….was just worried that i couldnt get a chance to feel these physics…….

  • Richard Hessels

    I run it on 3 screens trough softTH 2.07 – at 60+ FPS - 4740×1120 – 4x AA – 16 AF
DX9 – reflections at low – shadows medium – textures high - environment high.
Disabled bloom and HDR, don’t like these overdone post-filters anyway.
    My system is a i2600k @ 4,5 ghz – 16gb – Ati 6970
Still looks awesome enough and runs smooth enough for me.

  • Maciej Kosmalski

ok, i got 2 more GB of RAM (now i have 4) and its way better. I can race even with 15 ai on connecticut hill, still on lowest or low-medium detail and in 1400×900 with 2xAA (very jaggy) but its playble.

3 screens and a 5970 here. Slideshow. Waiting on it improving before trying it again. I only found this googling to find out if the problem was still around.
