Oh lord hear we go. Let’s see how long this thread can remain positive. First negative comment poster is a rotten egg!

  • Josh Desotell

    What is “TwoRaceFormat”

  • GridlineRacer

There is nothing wrong with negative comments as long as they are constructive. Project cars is far from being beyond criticism and to suggest that negative comments are unwanted is unfair to both the community and the title itself. Yes some people go too far but we need to keep the comments coming so the product can improve (and it certainly does need to improve).

  • http://racingrenders.com/ F1Racer

But why even mention it ? It’s like a spark to a flame.

  • pez2k .

I believe it’s quite literally what it says, an option to use a 2-race format for the race weekend (practice, quali, race 1, race 2).

  • Josh Desotell

    Sweet

  • Anonymous

Well the regular pCARS news followers know what I am talking about and know I was only being half humorous. As we have regulars to show up every week to get their 2 cents worth in and it has almost just become one big game and I wanted to see just how long it could be held off before it happens. As for constructive compared to flame we know the difference and while it may be questioned things like I feel this because of this this and this lead more so to adult discussions rather than things like this is crap. I for one would very much like to see these forums remain a civil place but also feel nonsense needs to be dealt with.

  • Anonymous

I for one would like to see things improve in this general discussion forum and if it’s starts a flame just simply put it out.:) Maybe my example was not the best but it does make a point.

  • http://racingrenders.com/ F1Racer

What I don’t understand is that we have this new thread with the latest weekly build and only a few comments so far. Then you posted “Oh lord here we go.”
What did that mean ? “Oh lord another pCars thread” ??
Cos you know there will be at least 1 per week right ?
Then despite there being no negative comments (as in trolling I assume you meant, not constructive critsicism), you say ‘lets see how long this thread can remain positive’.
Sorry, but I just didn’t see the point of the post at all.

  • Anonymous

It was the first post in the thread . If it makes everyone feel better delete it.

  • Anonymous

The problem as I see it, is that I’ve seen no more than maybe a couple of tens of postings with anything that could be called /constructive/ criticism since pCARS news started out on VR. On the other hand, mindless bashing, incredulous claims, pure trolling and hatred probably run in the thousands. That only constitutes pollution and ruins gaming for gamers. Therefore I understand Birddogs frustration.

  • http://racingrenders.com/ F1Racer

Yeah I know m8, we’re all tired of it. I’m not saying you’re post was bad, just that I didn’t understand the necessity for it :). I mean why pick this week to say ‘here we go again’ ? pCARS builds have been posted here weekly for a long time now.

But yes there is more colourful commentary in pCARS threads than most others but highlighting the fact before there is any seemed pointless to me. Your original comment would have made much more sense as a reply to someone flaming or trolling, that’s all. ;)

  • Guest

Well don’t you think there may be an actual *reason* why people criticize pCars..? Nobody says rf2 physics suck because it doesn’t. With pCars, well.. most people feel it’s still a bit strange, overall feel is just between arcades and “classic sims”.. If pCars drove like a pure sim, people icnluding me would shut up.

I joined pCars 8 months ago and can’t get rid of the feeling that physics STILL gets 1000times less attention than all other aspects (*cough screenshots cough*

  • Anonymous

Well, if the “critics” were able to articulate some kind of useful criticism beyond “It’s sH1f7 3 arcade LOLZ” or “They only care about grafix”, “PhysX suxxors”, etc., I’d be delighted to hear it. Of course if people are in a position to actually comment on physics, gameplay etc., it means they’re a WMD member, and could engage in discussion there, where you can actually help improve things. And no, before we hear the tired old “WMD is evil” hogwash, WMD isn’t a place where reasoned comments aren’t welcome – quite the opposite in fact.
And “most people”? I don’t think so. Most people actively testing pCARS get that it’s in development and is steadily improving, and not least, they’re having fun participating and testing. The couple of tens persons or so that are always churning out the same old non-arguments are a minority, albeit a very vocal one.

Again, almost all I see is ridiculous exaggerations, e.g. “physics STILL gets 1000times less attention than all other aspects”.

WMD being that “mysterious, scary, evil freemason” thingy is too much for some to handle – it just HAS to be bashed, regardless of what’s actually going on, or how the sim is developing. It’s bleedin’ obvious that in some circles, hating a bit on pCARS, for “hardcore” street cred is the biz.

But hey, this same old going in circles is getting boring…

  • Anonymous

A lot of people don’t like rF2 physics as well but are not stooping low enough to go there in those threads and sling senseless bashing troll mud. pCARS does drive like a sim! No not all cars are at as completed of a level as others and should be seen as such. I am just starting to think some people are just too stupid to understand game development and I am just growing very tired of the lack of intelligence in some of the comments being made.

  • Anonymous

Like I said I am all for civil discussions and is easy for me to forget the past and move forward in a positive way. I am very much aware that I am not perfect or have always adhered to perfect principles within these forums but I don’t make a career of it and always have a kind word for anyone deserving of such weather we as people have had our differences or not.

  • Anonymous

Now I kinda feel like I hijacked the thread which was not my intent.

  • Alan Dallas

Did one yesterday. Man that was the longest most enjoyable Virtual Race day I have ever had. My butt and my hands are still sore. :)

  • Alan Dallas

What part of Pre and Alpha confused you?

  • http://racingrenders.com/ F1Racer

Then we are both guilty of that :) No worries.

  • Anonymous

Can we get a mod to delete the post itself, please?

  • ezirnos

    i drove rf2, RE3, GT5,Forza, Assetto Corsa, iRacing etc. ….

    i
would say the completest game is iRacing-physics,tracks,newSound, each
class has its own championship……i know the biggest con is the price
    in iracing…

i think the problem with pcars is that they wanna do it on PS3,Xbox and PC…

most console player uses gamepad and SlightyMad have do do a big focus on “driving with gamepad”…

some car-physics in pcars are not bad, but most of the others are like SHIFT2…

    …and
i´m always wondering why people talking about simRacing but some of
them still playing with gamepad! if you wanna talk about simracing, buy a
    steering wheel!

  • myvracelog

Duals .. alot of motor sports run 2 races a weekend instead of one. like Daytona duels or wtcc racing. This past weekend indycar ran at Detroit a 70 lap race on Saturday and another on Sunday. I love it. Gigidty.

  • myvracelog

it is not going to be out for another year.

iracing been out for 10 years and also not finished. no pit crew … no complete car models of series nor latest cars and i know people using xbox controller in iracing plus they added aids.

plus the payment program is worse then a crooked wall street scheme.

come on lets keep it real okay? kk thanks.

  • Marcel Penzkofer

I always liked that about SimBins RACE/STCC-Series. Would be cool to have an unlimited amount of races (well, up to ten would be enough) per weekend, as V8 Supercars for example race on some tracks 3-5 times a weekend :).

  • Anonymous

Nicely worded. AFM I really see no problems with the title being released on other platforms once I understood how this is done. The fact it’s a porting from PC to Console actually suggest that this will be a great title on those platforms. What we have seen is titles ported from console to PC and I think that is where it get’s interesting.
As for GP and the more casual user I very much do think they have their place in the SR industry and community but I think sometimes what get’s lost in discussions is what types of controllers we are using when we discuss physics. If it were broken down to people saying I use GP and to me the GP physics are as such or the same for the different types of wheels people are using as how it determines ones opinion.
If you have read some of my posts here let me just say even with negative points I am all for discussing these if a base is built to have good clean discussion over.
    Take Care.

  • Anonymous

No I believe it was released in 2008? unless you are including the work done on NR2K3 so if that’s the case it goes back quite a bit further on how the platform came to be as a whole. :)

  • REALsimRACER1

    Don’t worry.

This pCARS project was born dead and if someday (not even God knows when) it’s released, it’s going to be an classic arcade game.

We just know pCARS project exists because the VirtualR website maintainer works for Slightly Mad Studios (SMS).

And they think they have the knowledge to do a SimRacing Game, but they don’t.

They’re even preparing a version for Wii U console, can you believe it? How bad is that?

It would be a lot better people at SMS admit that this thing they’re trying to build is a very bad project for an arcade racing game for casual players. Nothing more that that.

    Sigh…

  • REALsimRACER1

Where have you been in the last 10 years?

    Hahahahahahaha…

  • Anonymous

Hmmm down voted for this some people just have no decency or are snot nosed kids.

  • Anonymous

iRacing is 4.5years old. And it had very believable handling since day1 it was public.

  • Anonymous

If you were actually able to make sense people would respect that and discuss why you feel the way you do about it but it doesn’t. Some of it if not most is just nonsense all together. Your just slinging and not giving any tangible reason for your ranting. So the most of us don’t have much respect for it. If you enjoy this type of behavior fine but maybe you should take a look at yourself and think about just why you enjoy it?

  • punkfest2000

    you…are a petty man.

  • myvracelog

knowing more then you i guarantee that. I did not use the words Release date.

Ever here of Project Wild fire? it was in 2003 last time I checked 2003 was 10 years ago. Pwf was 1st step in iracing. Basically beginning of it all, iracing was going to be called 1st. If you look at the billboards on the pwf tracks released in !!2003!! they all have ”first” billboards.

I would stop now before you make your self to look more clueless on something you know nothing about. You will learn that I tend not to post on things I know nothing about I suggest you do the same. Or instead ask questions and learn something.

  • myvracelog

    10-4 :)

  • Anonymous

I love how you can judge the knowledge of the people involved, especially since the very same people created some of the games you listed as benchmark titles a while back.

You don’t have to make an effort and tell people I work for SMS, they know…I’ve always been open about it from the very beginning :)

  • myvracelog

    see below

  • Anonymous

    No news about Grid2 ?

  • Motorgamer

Why the hell shouldn’t Virtualr cover the news about pCARS?? And why is it bad to have a good racing game on Wii U? The only way you’re going to be happy is if you win the lottery and have someone make a game just for you… although it wouldn’t need multiplayer :)

  • Anonymous

Their Aston Martin selection almost makes me want to buy it.

  • http://racingrenders.com/ F1Racer

A valiant effort at trolling. But if you are going to troll, at least get the most of the facts right. I mean I could have closed my eyes, hit random letters on the keyboard, and come up with a post that made more sense than this.

Seeing a how you tried so hard there, I’m going to reward you with a warning.

  • Anonymous

No, Grid 2 does not meet the “sim” standards required to be covered on VirtualR. I posted the first previews until it became apparent that there is no cockpit view, this pretty much disqualifies the title from being covered on here, sorry :)

  • Big Ron

There must´ve been someone stolen your pacifier.

  • Anonymous

I heard they were creating a Cockpit view patch for PC if official word of that comes about that may be news worthy seeing they will have succumbed to the 5%

  • http://racingrenders.com/ F1Racer

That’s probably one of the only times you can say that without people looking at you funny :)

  • C4

    I think you’re overexaggarating ;)

We can all live happily with another arcade… or sim racing game. Problem is when devs talk about sim when it’s obviously not the direction they are taking. Look at the comments from eVolution (Driveclub / PS4) they are simply stating they don’t make a sim nor an arcade racing game.

  • Anonymous

Sigh. I think you just proved my case:

“Problem is when devs talk about sim when it’s obviously not the direction they are taking.”

  • C4

    I didn’t say anything negative.

  • Anonymous

Right, forgot about that. Fair enough. Your site, your rules.
It would have ended in a flame war anyways ;)

  • Anonymous

Read what I quoted from your posting. Your claims are:
    - that the devs aren’t making a sim
    - that they “talked about it”, but aren’t doing it
    - that this incredulous claim is somehow “obvious”

This falls firmly into the category “unable to articulate useful criticism”. Furthermore, it lands uncomfortably close to what is known as “trolling”.

  • Anonymous

Do it! it’s an enjoyable racer.

  • REALSimRACE2

Oh my god! I’m so afraid!

    Pity of you…

  • Anonymous

Generally racing games that do not have representation of a race weekend structure with qualifying and practice I have less use for and while I own some of these that don’t they end up more on the back burner. If anyone can confirm Grid 2 offers a race weekend structure I will give it more consideration.

  • Anonymous

In the time I’ve been playing it there hasn’t been no practice or qualifying. May happen at a later stage in the career but if I’m honest I doubt it.

  • Anonymous

Thanks for the reply. I might buy it but that lessens the chances. It’s like others that just throw you onto the grid randomly and while it may be a rush it does not represent the true heart of racing in general IMO. You pactice work on the car setup qualify practice and work on the car setup some more then race. Hopefully codemasters will work toward this concept a little more in the future because FTMP their games are enjoyable.

  • C4

Didn’t know I had to articulate useful criticism. On the other news someone basically critisizes Forza for being Forza but that is exactly what T10 intent to do (if he critisize that intention or MS pushing for a release at launch at all costs I agree) . I think SMS know what they are doing. Content and graphics are nice. It’s just irrelevant to my interest in proper sims.

  • Anonymous

    Double sigh.
“It’s just irrelevant to my interest in _proper_sims_.”
From uncomfortably close to t******g to plain old t******g?

  • C4

If you think so I guess there’s nothing I can change about that.

  • Anonymous

    That’s right.

And for future reference your last posting in the build 489 thread:
    http://www.virtualr.net/project-cars-build-489-available
    Quote:
“Wii U is the perfect platform for pCars, head to head against Mario Kart :)”
Should remove any shadow of doubt; you’re a pure troll, without the asterisks and question mark :-))

  • C4

If you interpret any comment with “not useful” critisism as trolling you must be seeing trolls everywhere. No need to discuss that further from my point for view.
