Project CARS – Build 282 & New Trailer Available

Slightly Mad Studios have released a new build of their WMD-powered Project CARS title.

The new build gives members access to new and improved versions of various tracks and other changes outlined below.

Furthermore, a stunning new video trailer made by WMD-member JonZ has been released. Entitled “The Five”, the trailer picks up on Codemasters’ claim that only five percent of racing gamers use cockpit view according their statistical data obtained in Race Driver GRID.

Is that ” Five” not again a provocation towards Codemasters? Seems these days what should be healthy competition is turning into a sick game.

The Nordschleife is coming along very well, looks great with the new trees. Someone posted some comparison pictures in the WMD forum (wish I could show them here but they’re not public), the accuracy is damn impressive.

  • Andrew McP

I’ve been a bit “on the fence” about pCARS for quite a while, but driving the Stock car (surprisingly!) around the Nordschleife this weekend reminded me why I am optimistic about the project.

  • http://www.facebook.com/the.bastard.poet Alejandro Ramirez

Kunos did something similar a couple of days ago in their Facebook page. They posted something like “Our data shows that 5% of the GamesCom assistants DO NOT use cockpit cam”.

Frankly, I think it’s awfully funny.

  • Matt Orr

Weee new Loire export, guess I’ll test this build out a bit more.

  • Big Ron

Tested it the first time in the new build and it develops great. The layout and elevations come really close to the real track. Some little bump changes here and there, full vegetation placement, graffiti on the road and it will feel fantatstic.

  • Juhan Voolaid

    Very nice trailer.

    Yer obsessed man ! :)

  • http://racingrenders.com/ F1Racer

Driving-wise, this is feeling better and better. No more controller option adjustments in order to get these car to steer anywhere near right. I just pretty much use the defaults now and she’s good to go. BAC Mono still one of my faves.
One think I would like to see the back of…. steering wheel input in menu navigation.
Please give us an option to turn that off. When I pause the game, my Fanatec always wants to steer full lock to one side or another so in order to navigate the GUI, I have to straighten the wheel up. Grrr.

  • Alex Ease

    Codies/Grid: 5% cockpit view
    WMD/pCARS: 50-60% cockpit view (wmd forum/leaderboards/event/lists) :)

  • Anonymous

I see what you mean. But yet it does seem to become a trend to refer to each others does and donts. I hope it does not escalate, because it could mimic the problem we all know so well.. Trolling :-).

  • speed1

pCars look’s great as ever. Nice vid.

I really think the dirty camera lens texture has the potentials of a meme. You can literally put it on any screenshot or video and make it look good. They’re probably call it the “BF3 filter” since that’s what started it all. :)

P.S. I had Topgear on in the background and I thought the music was coming from the TV lol.

  • Eric Zehnder

The Audi DTM, Caterham R500 Superlight, Formula Rookie, Lotus 49, and Ariels are all feeling pretty damn good. I generally don’t like the LMP style cars right now as FFB (even tweaked) isn’t up to snuff yet.

However, the above mentioned cars and some others really feel amazing. I go between netKar Pro and pCARS right now and although the netKar Pro’s KS2 is far better feeling than the Formula A/B right now, the GT cars in pCARS feel better than Abarth or GT Vintage in netKar Pro, in my opinion.

  • Kendra Jacobs

hahahahahahahaahhaha im not sure which stat to laugh at more

  • http://twitter.com/StarFoXySxv550 StarFoXySxv550

Most of these devs know each other (especially the European & US contingent), so I wouldn’t be surprised if they are trolling each other, but way back when it used to be called “friendly banter”, however these days modern society + internet = unfriendly banter, and then trolling as we know it was born.

  • Eric Zehnder

Not sure where you’re seeing that. I’m on the leaderboards and all I see are times and whether or not people are using assists.

I use non-cockpit views with pCARS frequently when I’m looking to see the animations like Huayra active downforce elements, seeing how lights/rain are working, and testing to see if damage is working properly.

We are testing a game here…

i Almost forgot to mention, the track is coming along nicely. A shame we might end up with only the virtual version. I can not get over the fact that the Nordschleife might disappear.

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Markus-Ott/100000878526131 Markus Ott

The Nordschleife will not disappaer. The Nordschleife belongs to the land Rheinland-Pfalz, not the bankrupt group who owns the GP curcuit.

  • Anonymous

I understand that Marcus, but will it still be used as a racing venue?
    If politicians have to decide…

  • Anonymous

It’s worth noting that this is a fan made video. SMS has nothing to do with it.

  • Anonymous

“Not sure where you’re seeing that.”
The fourth symbol in the “Assists” code. It shows a green “I” for cockpit view, and a red “E” for the external ones.

  • Matt Orr

Only hope I have for pCars really. Everything else is offered elsewhere already or will be by the time it’s finished. The one thing that still isn’t done is endurance racing Le Mans style.

  • noro ardanto

Caper at Bathrust also amazing imho

  • Eric Zehnder

At this point I wouldn’t be surprised if helmet was classified as external as “cockpit” is a single view.

  • Anonymous

I agree; I’ve not chanrged the controller setup on my Logitech G25 wheel except button commands! I find the entire driving experience acceptable for a SIM.. now all tweaks will simply make it that much better. I’m ready for the new Tin=Tops and the other racing features, pit syops, etc!

  • daz

Won’t be many GRID racers using iRacing then, lol.

    GRID = 5% cockpit view
    iRacing = 100% cockpit view

  • Anonymous

    Not directly at least

  • Anonymous

So you are not a WMD pCARS member? Why not get all this info first hand only costs 10euro the forums alone are worth that,

  • Timpie

Is there anything known about the MP yet?

  • Anonymous

so simmers want cars that ‘feels good’ to drive instead of setting up the cars to feel good plus dun want cockpit cam lol. i lol haha lol

  • speed1

Are you sure you talking about simmer or more about fake driver ?

  • Alejandro Gorgal

There’s going to be some internal tests starting 3-4 weeks from now, if everything goes well we might get to try itin a month or two after that.

I’m working on getting a computer than can run this game so can someone tell me, is this game’s physics like Shi(f)t 2? Or is it much better?
