Updated driving camera defaults
Added in m_windscreenReflectionScale values to weather conditions missing it. Added m_windscreenReflectionScale to currentstate info in tweak it
Fixed track-specific personal best received from the server when loading into an event race overwriting event-specific personal best. We display track-specific PBs on the loading screen for now, so they should be stored as those into the local profile.
(This bug prevented improved times set on an event from being uploaded to the server unless they also beat the track-specific personal best set on the event’s track, in the event’s car)
When a new personal best is set during an event race, also update the track-specific leaderboard with the same time.
Wisconsin Raceway – Fixed Carrousel AI running wide off into grass problem. Gradually moved corridors in and reduced attempted AI speed at the critical point by 10%
Florence – Added support for 40 Cars. added 20 pit spots and 40 start spots. Updated TRD’s. (still need garages doors opened for garage support)
Activation button added on Gameplay SAVE button
GAMEPLAY screen now re-organized to work on consoles
Fixed splash screen UI data (removed activation keys from press start button)
Vehicles Materials Library. Added Flat Paint CPIT material
Dropped extra ambience/subwave channels from the X4 AI sounds on consoles, as the extra channels were causing dropouts
Updated windscreen reflection defaults
Updated night windscreen reflection settings for all conditions
Modified moon dome shader to scale the depth value down, as this is the “correct” way to do this. Fixing this stops the moon from flickering on 360. Tested on PC, looks fine, relevant code path is not used by PS3
Fixed grandstand placement at Chesterfield; added intial crowd sound
Added crowd env sound for: Belgian forest circuit and Bologna reverse
Added audio to Badenring tracks
Added brake duct setting to tuning menus
Removed colour scale from 360 if shader used on windscreens

Stunning as usual. I love and can’t wait to try Zolder, one of my favorite tracks. My only gripe with pCARS these days, since most cars drive just fine now, is the AI. I wish they bumped up the schedule for fixing it so it doesn’t try to drive through my car. If one passes the AI on the inside it’s actually quite smart and it will try to avoid you, but at the start and when Passing on the outside or on a switchback, it will ram you like if you didn’t exist.

But it sure is pretty. Love the picture of the close up of the light. Amazing.

Weekly screenshots never cease to amaze…..

Dling now, time to thrash some cars around Bathurst :)

Getting a bit worried now about the amount of Shift tracks in this title, I can understand why some are calling it Shift3.

The track poll on the WMD forum isn’t being fully put into practice, Zolder had very few votes (as have others) yet it’s already in the game. I hope there will be room left for all the other tracks the community want that aren’t in the SMS back catalogue.

There are only two new venues from SMS in the game, Le Mans, Watkins Glen (not including the highway, kart tracks), every other one has featured in Shift or previous/future SMS titles.

  • Big Ron

I think they can´t fully relate to community wishes since they have not endless time to develop the game. Andy Garton already mentioned that not every proposal can be considered and they need to make their own decisions.

They’re not going to invent tracks, will they now ?

As Shift had a pretty nice selection of tracks, if you want tracks that weren’t in Shift, we’re gonna need fictional ones pretty quick ;)

Don’t worry, in the end, everything’s gonna be alright. If it’s not alright, it’s not the end.

It’s hard to believe these pics are taken from a game. Whatever happens to the future of this game, and the planning and organization behind it, and whether it becomes accepted by the sim community, it has achieved this one thing, it looks beautiful.

I’m a little concerned about the amount of Shift tracks too, but if they are of the same quality as they have been recently I’m not too concerned. Especially with the 4 British tracks on the way.

  • http://twitter.com/xxHojoxx xxHojoxx

Yes the British tracks will be great to have especially if they’re a laser scanned.

Although I hope we won’t have to pay extra for these and they are part of the full retail package.

Sorry but I’m not accepting shot 19 as a screenshot.   :)

I love these new weekly galleries.  The detail and textures on these cars are absolutely top drawer.
    Render quality stuff.

  • Ricoo

Picture 10 is amazing too. :)

  • pez2k .

This exactly, Shift 2 already had a great track selection, so reusing reference materials that they have already gathered is a good way to get a lot of tracks in in a short space of time. They’re all being revised and updated however, Catalunya seems to have had just about every polygon of terrain reworked this week for accuracy.

As for the track poll, 13 of the top 15 requested tracks have been confirmed, it just so happens that there’s a fair bit of crossover with the Shift list.

  • Brian Duddy

Why wouldn’t they want to reuse work they’ve already done, though? It’s not like there’s anything wrong with the tracks…

  • Anonymous

Yeah, its almost like Far Cry :)

    No.6 isn’t too shabby either.

  • http://www.facebook.com/kris.baxter2 Kris Baxter

    I think 14 is a photo too.

  • tgn motorsports

more historical tracks the better. shift tracks or not. more tracks more historical leagues more sales bigger community and better follow up titles.

  • Peter Ball

I tried to adjust the AI’s psychotic side down a bit, but they ended up totally neutered. I knows there is plenty of work continuing in this area, so I’ll wait a while before posting it as a bug.

  • Peter Ball

I felt that way about ’30′. It’s like HAL meets ‘The Prisoner’ … absolutely vibrating with character that shot.

  • Anonymous

and shot 11.  The crowd look great.  Only thing that stops the effect of it being a photo is the foreground grass.

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Markus-Ott/100000878526131 Markus Ott

Don’t dream. Just because there is a bunch of guys in the sim community that goes nuts because of oldschool F1 doesn’t mean it will push sales to have it. In general oldschool F1 for sure isn’t a big sale argument for a racing game.

  • Tomasz Zabłocki

True, currently it’s like you can have either italians or swedish drivers racing against you. Still, I’m not that concerned, I think they’ll fix it if they manage to keep the improvement-over-time ratio they had so far.

  • Guilherme Cramer

I strongly disagree. There is a reason why GPL is still held at such high regard and regularly used by simmers, and there’s a reason why the 67-68 Lotus being showcased in AC, pCARS, and rF2, is such a big event.

  • http://www.facebook.com/kris.baxter2 Kris Baxter

There is no 11, you mean shot 7? Odd how the pics are not in order.

  • http://www.facebook.com/jcruze88 Justin ForzaBarça Cruze

If you’re a full member, you definitely wont have to pay extra.
Not entirely sure about the lower level tool packs, just depends on whether those tracks will be considered “exclusive tracks”.

  • tgn motorsports

Dream? Not sure how to take that but I will take it nicely.  :)
Let me set you straight :)
The F77 Cromwell is the best old school F1 car in all sims/ race games by far. I have raced rfactor, gpl, iracing lotus (little used for a reason) and the rest. It should be featured and would be a mistake not to. More people need to know about this ~~F77 gem~~. (and the tracks which are not same tracks in feel as the shift tracks totally different . Only thing the same is places)

Keep in mind the fastest growing gaming  population rite now is the over 40 years old crowd.  Those people are the people with the money. Not kiddies nor the 20 year old kiddies. Tell simbin old school add packs are not popular, tons of sales on 6
year old game by releasing retro packs of 70′s cars and tracks.

The 1979 mod was reason for a lot of people to buy rfactor years ago and was first interesting mod (and there are still leagues built around it 7 years later).  If old school F1 was not a big sale it would not still have a huge community still playing and updating a GPL game 10 years old.  Also the market for games like Pcars grows more every year with more households having fast internet and decent pc/ apple machines. If Old school f1 was not a interest the F1 videos on youtube would have hundreds upon hundreds of thousands of clicks more then new f1 videos.

Last  time I checked people and companies who dare to dream are companies who make money. Especially in niche markets.  Hope everyone enjoys racing today!

There is also a movie about Lauda and Hunts rivalry coming to the cinemas in 2013, named Rush. I wouldnt be surprised if there were more people interested in classic F1s afterwards.

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Felix-Schmidberger/1487648182 Felix Schmidberger

They built Suzuka, Brno and Zolder from ground up, they re not library tracks. And keep in mind, they also have to select tracks that match the series they want to include in the career mode.

  • Eric Zehnder

I’m pretty sure there have been VERY few racing games (sim or otherwise) that feature old school F1 tracks and cars at all. The ones that have featured them have been popular.

I second Felix’s sentiment about Rush. This will absolutely help Project CARS since it’s being ported over to consoles as well as PC native.

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Matt-Simons/100000425606142 Matt Simons

All content from the Shift series is owned by EA so it is not a case where SMS can use assest from those. every track in pCars is built from the ground up.
