Project CARS – Bathurst Reality Check

Digiprost has put together another great Project CARS reality check video, showing off Bathurst.

The video shows a lap around the Mount Panorama Raceway in a Formula One car, both in real-life and in Slightly Mad Studios’ WMD-powered simulation.

Even though Bathurst is one of the most-progressed tracks in pCARS, keep in mind that all content is still in development.

Project CARS is coming to the PC, Xbox 360, Playstation 3 and Wii U in 2014. More info can be found on the WMD website.

    Wow, it looks fantastic now. I’ll admit I was a doubter, but with less and less of NFS:S showing I’m getting pretty excited about it!

    There’s still that nervous little wiggle on exit, but it does seem nice. Not sure about the packs of leaves physics though.

    Very impressive! The leaves on the track are a very iffy effect – they look quite artificial individually and as grouped, and clearly should be gone after the first car blows through them. Opinion – lose the leaves! Also, while the pCARS trees look great, they are just too flimsy in some areas, need a lot more foliage. I’m reasonably sure that would not be a significant hit on frame rate, having an additional type of tree. Still, very very nice and can’t wait to get my now Steam’ed installation working again!

    Pcars is for real.

    Been on board since the announcement. GTR2 was a great game made by great devs. (bought it on release date)

    Shift 1 and Shift 2 were made so that anyone could drive them without the need for skill.

    With that said one of the toughest games ever to race Nascar 2003 also
    had Arcade Mod in there game and no one ever complained or called it an
    Arcade game.

    I guarantee 75% of the people that read
    this site could not get out of the pits in Nascar 2003, yet even turn
    one lap with all the aids off.

    So … in Shift it did something I never saw before that was interesting, it brought eye sensory into the mix in a different way… to a larger extent, you could
    actually feel the wreck through the wheel, see the bluring and
    disorientation of a incident, and see the damage, window cracking parts
    breaking off and so on. So much that my 1st time playing it I actually
    jerked my neck and shoulders back on impact.

    Shift, Again not greatest physics (also not he worst) and vary much flawed for
    sim experience yet excellent ideas laying the groundwork for PCARS.
    Just like GTR2 (which has excellent physics!) which until today still
    ranks as one of best road racing sims ever made but also laid the
    groundwork for PCARS.

    GTR2 also have terrific UI … so many excellent rings and bells and tools to help you become better at road racing.

    People love to hate PCARS, maybe because I’t makes them feel better about
    whatever they have put there money into, or maybe they just enjoy
    trolling who knows.

    What I do know is this when I drive the lotus in PCARS with all aids off… it feels great, very much immersed, and the car is a handful if you drive it on the edge, just like the rfactor 1979 mod, or Iracings lotus. I have huge amount of seat time in those cars so that is why I compare the three.

    Nothing in Grand turismo feels like anything in PCARS .. this whole thing
    comparing or saying pcars is like gt5 is laughable, I own both and gt5 I
    consider fun, but not worth a huge portion of my time, and has
    collected dust over a year or more. Where PCARS I can see myself racing for years.

    I can’t give in depth report on the other cars because I have not spent
    enough time with them and to be honest I don’t care if I drive them
    because open wheel cars is what I enjoy.

    If you have not played PCARS, give it a chance. Hopefully they will release a trial after it comes out so people can at least try it before paying.
    Pcars still has a LONG way to go, but has the time and the staff to get it
    done. I have faith that they will have a great product that will be
    LEAGUE and USER friendly and stimulate community growth for later
    releases.

    And just like Papyrus Nascar 2003 (greatest sim ever made) was it will be user friendly to BOTH SIM RACERS AND ARCADE RACERS.
