Great stuff !! Brilliant top notch mod.

  • Terrell Olvera

Yes!!! Glad I didn’t get F1 2013, that time will be much better spent on this. Definitely my favorite mod. I like how they make it easy for someone to jump right into the mod and have fun.

    • Lúcio Marques

      Thank you! :-)

We hope people will keep enjoying P&G. It’s a brilliant project, for a great platform (it really is, despite its age), with a lot of superb artists/modders involved, and one for which I’m grateful to have participated.

      • Anonymous

As long as you keep a PC that will continue to run this software it truly is timeless excellence!

      • Anonymous

shame it doesn’t support triple screens properly (GTR2 i mean).

      • Lúcio Marques

As I said above, it works fine on triple-screen, now inclusively online. (3x screen at higher resolutions would CTD online before)

The only issue we can’t adress (GTR2 idiosyncrasies) is the stretching of the User Interface (the menus) across the three screens (which also is unable to be just in the middle-screen).

Other than that, there are no issues reported from triple-screen users. :-)

      • Anonymous

does it now support angled side screens like rf? aka multiview?

      • David Wright

I think there might be some confusion here. GTR2 did not support triple-screens and on-line racing – it would crash. With v3.1 you now can run triple screens and race online.

However, GTR2 doesn’t have the full triple-screen functionality of sims like iRacing. But now the on-line crashing has been fixed, any lack of functionality doesn’t stop many people running GTR2 with triple-screens.

  • Lúcio Marques

    Thank you! :-)

    • Lúcio Marques

BTW, just noticed that there are European and American based P&G leagues starting new seasons (Autumn/Winter 2013).
Perhaps this patch has been released in the right time for them! :-)

  • Terrell Olvera

Now we just need SimVibe and Oculus Rift support for GTR 2!

  • M1GHTY M4VS

Now it just gets even better :D

  • Jos

great, can I now finally drive the mini without it’s engine blowing up? :)

    • David Wright

If it didn’t blow up when you drove it in GTL, it shouldn’t blow up when you drive it in P&G v3.1 :)

    • Anonymous

Stop hitting the Nitros button every 5 seconds and it won’t!

  • noneofyourbusiness

    Thank you :)

    An awesome day so far!!!

  • Jukka Karppinen

Pure greatness, thanks a lot for the team!

  • Jukka Karppinen

Just tested the new escort, my god it’s fun car to drive! Update and recently bought Trackir 5 made this sim feels great once again :)

  • Eric S

None of the PnG download files work for me. This sucks

    I get this page

    http://mirror.simjunkies.org/PnG/PnGv3.0.001

    • David Wright

Are you trying to download the P&G 3.1 updater or the original P&G v3.0 mod?

      • Eric S

I am trying to get the PnG mod. I am still kind of new to this so I assume its me. LOL. When I try to get the three files for the installation, I get the page in my post above. I have the PnG installer in my downloads folder. It is the only one that worked. I have the Steam version of GTR2 with no disc 1.1 installed. Don’t know if this matters or not.
        Thanks for any help

      • David Wright

I think the problem is your browser. It recognises the exe file as a download but not the other files. Try putting the mouse over the link, right clicking and I’m hoping you have the option to save the file to your hard-drive (downloads folder)

      • Eric S

That was it! Thanks David. You are my new best friend!
Now we will see if I can actually install this properly. Wish me luck. Hahahahahahahahah. IM sOO ScaREd!!! LOL

  • Andy Thompson

Loving this a lot at the moment. Shame the online servers aren’t a little busier.

Just had a small race in a 3.0 RSR with changeable weather. Just great fun, it’s so nice to be able to control a car on the limit for once, hold slides, feel the limit of grip, really impressive for an old physics engine.

    Well done GTL Workshop.

  • NitroStar

Want to install on my triple screen rig. Will this run ok on triple screens? Is there any way to adjust Field of View? I sure love PnG on my 42″ screen! Thanks a lot.

    • Lúcio Marques

Yes mate, it works fine on triple-screen, inclusively online now! :-)
(3x screen at higher resolutions would CTD online before)

The only issue we can’t adress (GTR2 idiosyncrasies) is the stretching of the User Interface (the menus) across the three screens (so, instead of being just in the middle-screen).

Other than that….. classic racing heaven!

    • David Wright

You can adjust FOV in game – mouse+CTRL key+left button can be used to adjust FOV (left shift + left button resets FOV). You can also edit FOV in the plr file.

  • Eric S

ERR. unpacking error status 2 when I get right near the end of the installer copying GTR files. Anyone know what this means and a workaround? Sigh

    • David Wright

There is a general trouble shooting thread at our forums

      http://www.nogripracing.com/forum/showthread.php?t=301357

      It does include this error.
If you don’t mind registering at NoGrip, this might be the best place to sort out issues.

      • Eric S

        Thanks David

      • Eric S

Thanks again David for your help. This is a wonderful and fun mod.
Also, thanks to all involved in the making of PnG. Big thumbs up!

  • Walter Conn

It truly is great stuff! Inspirational even. Thanks GTLW Mod Team

  • Adri

Great work guys tanks very much!

  • Jonny Edwards

Part of me wants to install GTR2 because tbh rfactor 2, live for speed and iracing are boring the arse off me. Are there any issues running GTR 2 on Windows 7?

    • Walter Conn

No issues for me. Most people do not install GTR2 onto the C: drive instead of the programs folder.

    • Lúcio Marques

There are no issues with GTR2 on Windows 7.

The only thing that has been recommended in this case, is to avoid installing to the default “C:Program Files” folder.
Install it somewhere else (for instances, “C:GTR2″, or if you have other driver available, “D:GamesGTR2″, etc, etc….. you get the gist). :-)
Would recommend to apply admin rights on the GTR2.exe and Config.exe files of the game.

When the time to install P&G comes (which is to work like a separate game), then you have two important options for this with our installer.

OPTION-1 = Pick an existing GTR2 installation to copy needed files from, to a new PnG folder, for which you choose the path.
This will keep your current GTR2 installation untouched and create a separate P&G installation.
This works for both DVD and Steam versions of GTR2.

OPTION-2 = Pick an existing GTR2 installation and transform it into a P&G installation. This will remove all unnecessary files for the mod (means, modern cars, drivers, classes and etc will be deleted) from the given GTR2 path and add P&G files over them, so recommended only if you have a GTR2 installation already waiting for this transformation (or if you are interested in P&G only and not in GTR2).
Wouldn’t recommend this option for the Steam version of GTR2 (works fine on a DVD version of GTR2).

PS: sorry for the long post, it’s just that it might help others with similar concerns and related questions. :-)

      • Jonny Edwards

Thanks for the thorough reply. Good to hear that it is compatible with the steam version because i’m unsure of where exactly my GTR2 disc is. My best guess is the loft but there’s too many obstacles in the way hehe. Would be easier to buy it again.

    • Mr T

I was having issues with P&nG crashing until I patched it with the 4Gb patch but this will only be an issue if you are running 64 bit Win 7 with 4Gb or more of memory:

      http://www.ntcore.com/4gb_patch.php

      • Kris Baxter

Never heard of this issue and have not experienced this on my machine or my mates, but I might install it anyway to see if it changes anything, but then again, maxed and a solid 60fps I’m not sure I should risk it either.

      • Mr T

Yeah, well as they say “if it’s not broke, don’t fix it”. Mine would crash randomly, usually when in the middle of a race which was a pain in the neck. It hasn’t happened since I patched the gtr2.exe. It must be caused by something in my PC’s configuration (hardware or software) but I don’t know what.

    • Pvt Stash

Go on, you know you want to really… ;) Even though it’s been cleared up already, I run this on Win 7 64b and Steam as the base game, everything works a treat. Just remember the stupid ” run as admin ” crap and you’ll be right as rain.

  • http://www.gtsimracing.com.au/ Phill Routledge

In truth, I don’t like the idea of a patch update. Would much prefer a full complete DL option.

    • Pvt Stash

Sup dude :) It’s well worth the effort though, brilliant mod. I’ll give you a ring one day soon m8, couple of good car shows coming up.

  • Sigmatc

Thanks for this huge mod. Quality work

  • eifionevans

Love P&G but have wondered how is it different to the original GTL, which seems to be fairly active still. Additional cars, better physics?

    • David Wright

GTL simulates the 2004/5 FIA Historic Championship. P&G simulates the cars as they were in the 60s and 70s.

There are some cars in P&G which are not in GTL such as the Triumph TR4, the Ferrari 250 GT, and the Alfa Romeo GTAm. A couple of cars in GTL – the TVR Grffith and the Mercedes 300SL – are not in P&G.

      • eifionevans

thanks but am I missing out by playing P&G but not GTL. How does the HistoricX mod compare?

      • David Wright

Its not really fair to ask me, a member of the P&G team :) We are all looking for different things, so even if I wasn’t biased I don’t know what will appeal to you.

GTL is very cheap on Steam. I’d certainly recommend it. I really enjoyed the career mode but not everyone likes career modes.

I’ve only tried an early version of HistorX so don’t feel qualified to comment on the current version. You will need buy GTL to install the HistorX mod.

      • Pvt Stash

I have them all, but as David said everyone like different things. P&G is one of the best GTR based mods I have ever seen, as you have it, you would already know. :) GTL imo, is still worth playing if you like historic racing and if you get GTL then you can give HisX a go as well. It’s one of the best rF mods and very well made/presented.

      • M1GHTY M4VS

I’d say P&G has the most accurate physics of them all, yet the cars shown are all from real series and every detail is in there.
HistorX has a vast amount of cars and some of them are truly iconic and unique and rF regularly has the most and best tracks available first. The physics on the other hand are sometimes weird and for example if you want to play some endurance usually the engine won’t last. But the most cars are pretty exciting so it’s worth for the sheer mass.
GTL to me has some bright mods but isn’t as appealing as rF and GTR2 is to modding, even the cars in the game have cars from the 70s but tyres from the 2000s so P&G is better there but some gems are only to be found in either of them.
GTL has the physics.gtl file that makes the cars wobble and squeeze like it’s a vintage car, neither GTR2 or rF have this so that’s for good.

      • Anonymous

Can you elaborate what you mean about the physics.gtl file, or link to forum posts / information about it, cos I am quite interested (not having tried gtl).
What does it allow that p&g does not? Is it extra physical simulation? Or just “canned effects” ?

      • M1GHTY M4VS

to me it is an extra file that isn’t like the usual physics in the game but more of an extra swing into the corners graphically that I haven’t found like this in either GTR2 or rF I dunno it has something special to it.

  • NitroStar

Man oh man. Loving driving these cars on triple screens. This game is awesome. Great physics, frame rate, graphics are great, force feedback, feeling the tires on the road. Just runs great! Thanks for all the hard work.
