Porsche Is Coming to Project CARS 2!

Slightly Mad Studios have casually dropped a huge announcement today as Porsche will be joining the studios’ Project CARS 2 title.

The reveal has not been made simply by showing off a few screenshots or a press release, rather the studio has released the second “Built by Drivers” short film, featuring none other than Porsche works driver Patrick Long.

While an exact car list of Porsches in Project CARS 2 still remains to be confirmed, the video gives us a first glimpse of the legendary make in the game, showing the 962C, the 935 and other legendary and modern Porsche cars.

The Porsche announcement comes on the heels of several other high-profile Project CARS 2 licensing announcements, including the Indianapolis 500 and the Circuit of the Americas.

Project CARS 2 will bring 180 cars and 60 tracks to the PC, Playstation 4 & Xbox One.

Powered by the studios’ Live Track 3.0 technology that allows dynamic surface conditions and the title’s comprehensive dynamic weather engine, Project CARS 2 is able to simulate racing in any weather & season, including heavy winter weather & snow.

Aside from graphics & sound improvements, Project CARS 2 comes with refined physics featuring the title’s cutting-edge tire model and improved AI as well as brand-new gamepad controls & FFB improvements. The new version comes with robust eSports & online capabilities including Online Championship mode, driver rating as well as race directing & broadcast controls.

Project CARS 2 is due to be released in late 2017, more info on what’s new in the second version of the WMD-backed title can be found here.

Just like Kunos, S3S and Iracing, developers with the cash and “experienced” staff to negotiate these great licenses.

    • Paul Maguire

As far as i know Porsche contacted Kunos

      • melanieuk1

Correct, but I’m on about in general, these Four developers acquire licenses that appeal to what we want.

  • Rado Kingo

so, still no proper triple screen support?

    • melanieuk1

Guess you just decided to post your comment, before watching the first Ten Seconds of the video, if you did, you wouldn’t have asked that question.

      • HardRock

Yeah, although the development builds used in these videos are probably months old and from what I saw the FOV in the side monitors were still quite distorted, so separate projections for each monitor (what people often refer to as proper triple screen support) weren’t implemented back then yet. Not surprising though, as Ian mentioned that it was only weeks ago it was done.

      • Penteano

Running on triples and having proper triple screen support are 2 very different things. i.e try rF2 on triples with and without multiview

      • melanieuk1

        lol @ rFactor 2

      • Penteano

        ?
I’m giving you an example, without multiview = just a larger res, with = porper triple screen. There is a difference, it’s not about hating the game, just check it out.

    • Markus Ott

I got a good idea for you: don’t buy the game.

    • IJOJOI

So once and for all, it has been confirmed already. Yes, this time with proper angle/fov support to set them up the “right” way.
In fact, I’ve been using it since 2 months!

      • HardRock

Whenever you WMD guys are allowed to post videos on Youtube, please make it a point to post as much triple screen videos as possible. I’d appreciate it, if only to silence the skeptics under every single pCARS news article, as it’s becoming real tiring to see this brought up even when it has no relevance to the news at hand.

      • Captain Stabby

Really wish Ian would allow at least 1 recent video of tripple screen to put an end of these s**tposts

  • BucketCat

    Chooochoooo!

  • Philip Antonia

I thought this was already confirmed!! Lol 🙂

  • MFORTYTURBO .

Now, if they can get the sounds of the cars to be life like. That would be awesome

  • noroardanto

Sweet! More cool cars on pC2. Now the question is which ones will be included on the release and which ones going to be DLC

    • Dab o’ Oppo

Every other game that has secured the Porsche license since the exclusive deal went away has had it as DLC, so that would be my initial assumption. I’d love to be wrong, but the availability of the Porsche license came late enough in the development timeframe that I wouldn’t count on it being initial launch content.

  • Patrik Marek

they will shine in pCARS2, especially at night 😉
but on a serious note, great addition. So glad the exclusive license is over and more companies can do these cars justice
