Playseat F1 Seat – First Video

A few days ago, I posted a first story on Playseat’s newest product – The F1 racing seat that aims to replicate the driving position in Formula One race cars.

Below is a first video of the seat, showing it in action with a Formula One car in rFactor.

The Playseat F1 is compatible with all steering wheels on the market and will sell for 799€, starting January 2011.

Nice but seriously expensive. What’s the cheapest decent seat you can get? I like the wheel stand pro, but I think it would twist side to side since the legs are not very wide and it’s not attached to the seat. I need something that’s going to stay planted.

the latest version (g27) of the wheelstandpro has zero movement. the only way it can move is if you yank the wheel towards your chest. its rock solid and you get to use the seat of your choice

Cheapest way is to build your own! I build a f1-type cockpit using a superkart seat, and some MDF. Biggest cost was the seat itself ($120 au), all up around $200 to build

Really, even with strong force feedback effects and you have to yank it to the side, does it feel as stable as if it was hooked to a table?
