The British Touring Car Championship has announced a partnership with Motorsport Games that will see the creation of an official BTCC game and eSports series starting 2022.
Whenever sim racers are polled about a series they would love an official game on, the British Touring Car Series has long been on the top of most people’s wish list, with the BTCC providing an amazing variety of cars and a rich history of being one of the most spectacular and comprehensive national racing series in all of motorsports.
In 2020, no less than 10 different car models compete in BTCC, using a mix of front & rear wheel driven drivetrains, a rare degree of variety in modern motorsports where unification and spec tech & cars have become an industry trend.
The BTCC also offers a lot of variety in terms of tracks as venues such as Croft, Knockhill and Thruxton will be a new experience to sim racers more used to modern Grand Prix tracks found in most titles today.
The new BTCC game will mark the first time the long-running British series gets a dedicated racing game all the way since TOCA Race Driver 3 in 2006, Motorsport Games will be bringing the BTCC game to both the Playstation 5 and Xbox Series X consoles as well as the PC.
One of the key people behind Motorsport Games is no stranger to launching a new gaming franchise as President Stephen Hood was Codemasters’ Creative Director for the then-new Formula One game franchise in 2010.
