Rattenjäger has released new previews of his Nürburgring Südschleife project for rFactor. We get to see one of the grandstands as well as various videos of the track layout.
Built in 1927, the 7.5 kilometer Südschleife was the smaller brother of the legenday Nürburgring Nordschleife, both tracks were connected by the start/finish area and could be combined to one long 28 kilometer track.
While the Nordschleife rose to fame as the most challenging race track in the world, the Südschleife was less used as the years passed by. In the early 1980s, the track was closed to make room for the modern Grand Prix track, parts of the former track have been converted to public roads which are still used today.

There was a version planned for GPL but I don’t think it ever saw the light of day.
Look forward to being able to drive this legendary track.
And it’d be nice if someone would take a bulldozer to the current GP circuit. (But then that ruins VLN and other stuff… Hmm… Tricky. Can we just ruin it for F1?)

Looks great, anyone have any idea whether it will be standalone track or may be run on the Nordschleife + Südschleife?

I really hope we can somehow get the FULL loop. That’d be awesome!
