Nürburgring Nordschleife 70 1.0 – Released

Motorfx has released a historical version of the Nürburgring Nordschleife, bringing the 1927-1983 layout of the legendary Green Hell to rFactor, GTR2, GT Legends & Rac07/GTR Evolution.

Even though the main track layout of the Nordschleife has remained untouched to this very day, some aspects of the track have changed over the years – Most notably the start/finished area that was replaced with the Nürburgring Grand Prix track in 1984.

This proper historical version of the track uses the old paddock and pits and brings you the most demanding race track of all time without guardrails, fences or anything else that doesn’t fit in an historic racing environment.

The rFactor version of the track comes with matching AI learning files for several popular historic racing mods including F1 1971 & 1979 as well as CSGT’s World Sportscar mod.

Just wanted to say thank you for fixing the picture viewer and the VR3 issue.

Is this based on the Simbin track or made from scratch?

  • Rhys Gardiner

I’m not sure, but it’s definitely not based on the SimBin track. There are many places that are very different in corner radius and elevation changes.

  • SergeantBoner

    It’s based on the GPL-track

  • Disposable_Hero

What a pity. The Simbin track would have been a more accurate base to start from (in terms of corner radius etc.). But i´ll definitely try this one out.

Technically it’s the ’67-’82 layout since the chicane after the long straight was only built in 1967, and the old pits were demolished in late ’82 to make room for construction of the GP circuit, but that’s nitpicking. In fact, to be totally precise, the track from early 1971 had armco, so this version only covers a few years!

Not that that matters though, what’s great is that there are finally major public releases of ported and facelifted GPL tracks, which always have and always will have a fine look to them. It’s also great to see more late 60s tracks, not just for WSC70 but for Power & Glory too, which I consider a direct prequel.

  • Disposable_Hero

It has the same inaccuracy like the GPL track (Hatzenbach too tight, right turn before Schwedenkreuz, etc.) but anyway: its just damn fun to drive the green hell like it should have stayed forever ;)

Plus in sim racing there is no need to worry about safety concerns and we can enjoy these tracks which have a level of character often not present in their modern counterparts… regardless of which vehicle we choose to drive on them.

Does anyone know how to make this work in the Steam version of the game? tnx
