NLC VLN 2005 – DVD Check Info + Previews

During the past weeks, I´ve shown plenty of previews of NLC’s VLN 2005 mod project for rFactor. As watchful observers will have noticed, many cars in this mod are (heavily edited) conversion from several Simbin titles.

To make the mod comply with community rules, the team has decided to include a check for GTR Evolution which will be required to use the mod. This will ensure that the mod can be publicly discussed and hosted for download without interfering with common community standards.

If you don’t already own Simbin’s latest title yet, this is the final reason to get a copy as the mod will contain over 150 cars in various classes. The team is putting a tremendous amount of details into this mod, aiming for a quality package. Below are the newest previews made by 6e66o, showing the Schirmer BMW M3 E46.

    If I were to get GTRevo for this(I’ve played it, and still prefer rF), would it need to be a disc copy? Atm, my local Game store has Evo+Race for the same rpice as steam, I was wondering if i would NEED to snap up that disc copy.

    We will try to make this Check compatible for the Steam-Version.

    Will this mod contain GTR Evo’s Nords? I think that will be fair enough.

    In a way yes it will RaYqUe as you have to have Evo to begin with and that contains the track you mentioned but the mod itself contains another version of Nords I believe.

    The Mod will not contain Evo`s Nordschleife.
    We put a lot of work into the AI to work on our Version of the Track (2.2a).

    I would be very pissed off if i were SimBin.

    Everybody knows that there will be “not dvd checking” versions of the mod within hours after release.

    Was HistoriX sued for including the GTL disc check? Think about that and you´ll understand what this is about. :wink:

    And yes, some people will probably try to spread a version without the check – People did the same with the Historic GT & TC mod.

    They won’t be very popular though as there`s no legit place to spread them. All big sim racing sites are following Simbin’s guidelines and such won’t allow hosting or linking of such versions.

    The difference between this and say the Historic GT & TC mod is that Simbin have said they want NO conversions of GTR Evo until it is 12 months old, check or no check.

    You want this mod on RF but you need evo to play it.

    The logic is to give simbin the respect they deserve,
    for using conversions of their cars.

    For those that disagree with this effort/release/gift, just pretend the other possibility exists for you (parallel universe, ha, ha)and that this never was made and you can be happy. For those others, how fortunate and exciting! No worries, it always sorts itself out in the end.

    Is it just me or do many of you also use 6e66o as a barometer to great mods and tracks. It seems lately that anytime I see his name, whatever it is, it’s got my full attention. So a big thanks to him for his generous/excellent contributions!

    There are so many people behind mod projects like this that get never mentioned.

    They´re making the real effort.

    GTR2/GTL/rF/Race/Evo/etc -check doesn’t bother real simracing-fans ’cause we have all those sims already.

    It just those posers who complain ’bout everything. Go back to play WoW or other s…ty and worthless game.

    So what in this mod is a conversion from which simbin title?

    Why checking for Evo DVD if it comes from GTR2 ?

    About Historix, it is really different because GT Legends is quite old.

    My point was not to argue or start a fuss here, but I’d like to understand. If it contains anything from Evo or Race 07, it IS very risky. DVD check or not.

    We can not discuss the reasons for GTR-Evo check in public.
    Please bear with us.

    The only thing i can say, is that we don`t have to worry about legality-issues if we include this Check.

    I`m sorry that we can not give you any more informations.

    This mod will be free and when people don’t like the CD check, they are not forced to download it :happyevil:

    Or are you afraid to miss anything between the great number of mods? If you do, then no problem to buy GTR Evo I guess :roll:

    Oh PLEASE! Are you kidding me? I’m SO far from rich it’s not even funny, and even I was able to get the money up to build myself a water cooled Q6600 rig with an 8800GTS. Anyone who can’t save up enough money to build themselves a modern day rig that can handle any game out there is either lazy (won’t get a job) or irresponsible (have a job but refuse to save any money).

    I repeat, I am not rich, by any means what-so-ever. I have a car payment, rent, utilities, credit cards, personal loans and other bills to pay and I was still able to save up the money for my water cooled quad core rig. The only thing keeping you from enjoying an amazing computer is yourself.

    Did you heard about something like crack in your life ? dont you think that Simbin is pissed about playing their games on cracks ? you can always crack a game or mod but that is piracy :sd: it is your choice :cool:

    btw i am also very far from rich i could even say that i am damn poor :shock: but there was a time when i was working and from that money i have bought a damn amazing PC which was not expensive :ooo: even salesman told me that i have a great PC with a cheep price :sd: be clever :idea:

    I hate to say it but sometimes you have to pay to play. Not everything in life is free. SimBin really is being extremely generous in letting these conversions happen at all. There really is no way around the checks. Sure cracks will happen. You will always have thieves out there. But NLC isn’t going to completely ignore SimBin’s requests and put them self’s at risk of getting sued.

    I do see what tezuka is saying though. If none of the models are from Evo then why require Evo? But I am under the impression that this mod has models from just about every SimBin title ever released (including Evo). I guess Evo is sort of an all in one title in some ways so I guess that is the reasoning behind the Evo check. If they wanted to be completely legit they would have to have a DVD check for every SimBin title that they used models from. Just think of the complaining that would cause. :)

    BTW, I own Evo but something just feels odd about it so it never gets any use. Not only that but the league I am in uses rFactor only so I am glad to see this mod coming to rFactor.
