New NASCAR Title Coming from Eutechnyx

Last month, Eutechnyx announced a new project by introducing the gaming world to their upcoming online racing game Auto Club Revolution.

The free title isn’t the studio’s only upcoming project though as the UK-based developer is also working on a NASCAR title for the Playstation 3, Xbox 360 and the Nintendo Wii. Little is known about the upcoming title so far, the release is scheduled for February 2011.

Earlier this year, Eutechnyx hired former EA employee Ed Martin who oversaw Electronic Arts’ NASCAR franchise that was ended in 2009 after disappointing sale numbers of the last titles. Eutechnyx is now the third racing game studio to hold the NASCAR license together with Sony and iRacing, it has not yet been revealed which of the NASCAR-sanctioned series will be featured in the new title though.

    February 2010? ;)

  • Rolf

The only thing Eutechnyx has released so far is overhyped crap… dont expect any better from this title

  • Oggy

I think I speak for everyone when I say WHO THE FUCK IS EUTECHNYX

  • O11

Their PS2/Dreamcast Le Mans game, though not really a sim, was pretty awesome. Tire wear, fuel consumption, damage, dynamic weather, it had it all.

  • Rooster

Damn, I was hoping Simbin would pick up the franchise. :-P

  • John Rose

It will more than likely coinside with Daytona in Feb. But they hired the same guy to oversee the whole thing that also oversaw the complete failure of the same game many years in a row. Also, who would select a British game maker to make an American game? This has “fail” written all over it.

  • Jonathan Stewart

I don’t see many people getting excited over this.

  • F1Racer

Yeah amazing.  Its a brand new announcement and already people are moaning.

  • Philip Oakley

It has potential, but how much is still to be seen :)

  • Jorge

what about pc version.. it proves the decadence..
pc lovers of simulation will like that release too !!

  • F1Racer

Maybe the fact that it’s console only means it won’t be a full sim anyway.
Which, apart from the fact it’s not on PC, would be a shame.

ferrari challenge and supercar challenge!  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JSA1u1Vwrho&hd=1
best FFB in any console sim to date!

  • KastaRules

For a moment I was excited cause I thought a new sim was coming out, then I read “for PS3, Xbox, Wii”…  =-X

  • Novum

    Nascar game on the wiii….
    itsa me mario

  • F1Racer

    eya, Nascario !

  • Filg Popov

Hehe, if Eutechnyx says it comes out early 2011, be sure that it arrives at christmas 2011, with a bit luck… ;)

  • Jimmy The Fox

The producer on this released some little tidbits of info on this game last year, as follows:

    -pit-stops
    -tyre wear
    -tire pressure/temperature which affects performance
    -tire blow outs
    -brake wear
    -optional damage affecting handling
    -fuel management
-full motion captured pit crew and driver

And the CEO of Eutechnyx said this about it:

“realistic damage modelling – the most extreme in any licensed racing game”

“It’s also got a real sense of ‘the event’ – immersing the player in the spectacle of the experience.”

    Activision is the publisher.

To this day I still get mixed up over company Eutechnyx and the game Enthusia. Not related.

  • Rickard Olsson

This is great news ! I just hope (like everyone else) that they will pull this of.. the games from EA just isn´t realistic enough.. they should focus on FIFA and NHL.. ;) I´m not a fan of NASCAR.. Looking at NASCAR on TV isn´t anything that is, to me, exciting.. but I really think the games.. driving 3 to 4 wide and making it.. to be in the middle of the pack and make it up to the top.. it is quite fun.. so I am excited !! :)

  • Mike Oppenheimer

To be fair, Ed Martin was only with the EA Nascar franchise from 2001-2003…when it was still a decent game…

  • Dave

“realistic damage modelling – the most extreme in any licensed racing game”

LOL ,thats what codemasters said about the damage system in F1

“It’s also got a real sense of ‘the event’ – immersing the player in the spectacle of the experience.”

    Sounds like “Live the Life”

  • Marcel Penzkofer

Don’t forget the first 24h of LeMans Game, that was by Eutechnyx aswell

  • pez2k

    So THAT’S why they’ve been hiring lately…

To anyone expecting a sim, don’t hold your breath, it’s Eutechnyx after all. It’ll be alright I think, since they’ve really pulled their quality up of late, but with Activision’s laughable schedules it’ll be missing a couple of months of development time.

  • Mark

The physics and damage model were progressing nicely when I last worked with them, graphically its very nice on the 360 and PS3 as well, whilst its not going to be a hardcore sim I think it should offer some decent gameplay that any racing fan can have some fun with.

  • Adam Simpson

Wasn’t by Eutechnyx, that one.  Melbourne House, who were also responsible for Grand Prix Challenge, did the DC/PS2 version.  Eutechnyx coded the PSOne release, which was decent enough but not on the same level.

  • RKip

    SO YOU WORKED WTHEM?

  • Dale Reynolds

That is true. 2001-2003 means he worked on the NASCAR Thunder games, which to this day, NASCAR Thunder 2004 remains my favorite EA NASCAR game.
