While the discussions about EA’s decision to not release a demo before the release of Need for Speed Shift are still going on, two new gameplay videos of Shift have been released by German Xbox site Xboxfront.de
The videos are remarkable as they give us a good look at the racing the game provides without the heavy usage of effects and crashes as in most EA videos. The first video shows a race with the Renault Megane, the second a replay of a race with the Porsche 997, both videos have been made using the Xbox 360 version of Shift.
Developed by Slightly Mad Studios (former Blimey! Games) and distributed by EA, Need for Speed Shift will be released on September 15th (North America) & 17th (Europe) for the PC and all major consoles.

Wow – this game is now listed at BestBuy.ca at the staggering price of $69.99.
Good luck moving the product at that price point. I see it’s only $49.99 on Bestbuy.com. Guess BB management doesn’t realize that 1 CAD$ = $.90 US

Is that a blow off valve i hear on the megane? it’s very hard to hear but listen carefully and you can hear it. It sounds realistic :)

That has to be one of the worst versions of Laguna I’ve ever seen, looks nothing like the real track does.

The DOF effect is overdone in the replay footage. Actually makes it look rather untidy. A more subtle effect would have been better, maybe I can tweak it.
Riddled with bugs these builds are as well, standing through the car was already pointed out. There was also a sound bug when the Megane crossed the line; Engine stays on the gas, trans lets off… bizarre issue.
Evidently this leads me to believe the transwhine is mixing between two samples like stock rF dos, only they haven’t been stitched together very well, the samples are damn annoying too. I’m used the awesome engage thump that the endurance series introduced. SMS can’t keep up with the talent of some the modding community nowadays.

Lets play the game of looking for faults in the video. Don’t you guys ever get tired of this? Obviously not
What do you say to your wives/girlfriends? “Wow your getting fat!” “Think that hairstyle looks good? – think again!”

LMAO @ What they say to their wives , but it is so true. They will never tire of tearing a video apart for its flaws. Those videos are most likely from a beta build.

Will there be a demo? Why do you ask what cars and tracks will be in the demo when nobody knows? Anyway I will rent this on Xbox360 for a night and if its good I will buy the PC version

The teackside stuff is gussied up quite a bit, but the actual track itself looks quite accurate… I’ve been on Laguna myself, looks very good.

Perhaps it’s the video resolution or maybe modern consoles starting to show their age but the visual impression of the game is not that good as I expected. Especially in the cockpit view. Guess they use pc versiom in their great promotion videos.
