More and more gaming magazines are getting their hands on Need for Speed Shift, revealing details that have not been featured in official EA previews before.
That includes the following video released by German gaming mag Games Aktuell, giving us a closer look at Shift’s tuning options. The video is narrated in German, you´re not missing any info if you don’t understand it though – The guys are mainly chatting and the menus are shown in English. The final seconds give us a look at the setup screen too where a good bunch of settings can be tweaked.
Developed by Slightly Mad Studios (former Blimey! Games) and distributed by EA, Need for Speed Shift will be released on September 15th (North America) & 17th (Europe) for the PC and all major consoles. A demo of Shift is expected to be released any day now.

Ohhh, I just felt was it was like to be a console kiddie shopping for teh upgradez.
I still don’t appreciate the parts which modify performance, those open a barrel of realism questions and competitive issues, but it also opens a barrel of unknown possibilities too.
I.e. Multi class racing can be widened so far that you might encounter such competition as stock supercar vs super tuned hatchback. – Silly, but if it’s balanced I’ll be more than happy with that.

Ill cry if i ever see a Lamborghini with Tenzo R, AEM, or Fidanza decals on it
, those “import tuner” companies dont even make parts for lamborghini. I suppose those companies have a deal with EA. I wonder if you can put Street Glow underglows on your race car? lol

This setup screen at the end of the video seems to fit the needs of a simracer!

Customizing and painting your own car is very needed in a Sim. To make it realistic that is. Managing the different performance’s and different car models and who they race against, might be done by the game? All we need is dedicated servers and the ability to add mod tracks. We would have a very good platform for leagues.

Will there ever be a demo?
Or do they wait until after release so that none of the pre-orderers can jump off the boat?

I’ll wait another 6 months, my first pre-order was NFS Pro Street and I played that for 5 minutes.
