Sensekhmet-
The pretty car thing was my attempt at facetious remark but of course I know the racing thing. Still, I love cars especially when they're moving at very high speed, battered and abused, chipped paintjob and all. A racing car in the hand of a skilled driver is always a sight to behold.

mikem, problem is real racing is not about pretty cars. They might start as pretty but they soon cease to be such. Just take a look at any competiton car up close (really close): they are usually what you'd call a piece of s**t, straightened up with a hammer, tied with cable ties and spray painted from a can. Matching shutlines? Forget it! What most people don't realise is that competition cars are just tools: nobody builds them to last (to last more than a few races or a season I mean, after which they get a full rebuild) or to be pretty and the moment they stop being useful, they're discarded and replaced by new ones. Nothing romantic or pretty or 'cool' about it. I always laugh when I see 'vintage race car, 100% original!' ads or auctions: either it's not 100% original (6th engine, 4th gearbox, 3rd body shell...) or it's a 100% original heap of junk.

Marketing over-compensating- now that's a mouthful. I think you're being too cynical because all I see is EA and SMS treating the Press to a day out at the track instead of the usual room filled or bombarded with audio/visual sensory overload. As to whether the game will be realistic enough- it depends on the person's level of acceptance. For me, it's all about pretty cars.

Its too bad that the video didn't actually show any part of the game with the assists off, just some random guy saying its comparable to real life. I hope another video comes out of that event that shows straight gameplay with the g25 and assists off, they've already shown a couple of laps with the assists on at E3.

Jos:
why is that not a good sign?

Because it might not be all that realistic. It might just be marketing over-compensating.

That’s cool. But it looks like they’re putting a lot of effort into associating it with real motorsport. That might not be a good sign.

There's an old Nissan Skyline in it too. That's not a good sign either...
