These comments are a joke sometimes. It's just marketing and it's showing off the track, get a grip.
If you want an educational track guide then trailers for a video game obviously are not where you should be looking.

Anyway, there was some good footage there. Track looks great.

Injen and Fidanza both make parts for many different brands. Not just "tuner" cars.

Ah, but you see I'm not talking about the script. :sd: Might be worth reading what I said again. (Just in-case you didn't get it, I'm talking about it in relation to the purpose of selling the game.)

Also, I'm finding this rather weird too: Is the iRacing collective using some kind of search bot to find and highlight negative words with iRacing in the same sentence lol? Seriously, I may have to experiment with this more.

On that note, I find the track guides for iRacing that you’re obviously using for comparison are “bad” because they are not engaging enough, the production values are very low and the commentary is unprofessional, moreover just freaky to listen too - these people who haven’t used a microphone for any other reason than VoIP often don’t cut it when it comes to presenting.

With catch phrases like: "Breake before the turn" or "If your apex is right, you can take it flat out" it really gets me fired up!
Very intriguing

Actually it's mind blowing, that they will share this kind of secret information with us mortals :D

Just kidding, never said that these were bad, just that IRacing guides are more detailed and make you more familiar with the track, rather that make things more confusing.

Howie47:

I’ll help you with your English. That sentence sounds like your mind is already made up about the game being “crap” before you drive it. Especially when you put caps on the “IS”. Your emotional writting betrays you!

Ok ok, I'll comment again.

See, this is the problem I have with writing in English, I can't really put my mood into it.

What I meant was that I will only comment on what I find of the game after I've played it. But yeah, looking back I do see what you mean...

But seriously, is my English that bad?

IaMeRe09:

It’s not very clear but he actually say’s: I suggest you brake late or turn in before, at the apex. Listen very carefully and you’ll hear it.

That doesn't really make a difference to the point I was trying to make, but I guess you are right.

Seems to me that a number of you think everything that doesn’t fit your exacting standards or definition on a topic is deemed rubbish.
Have you ever stopped to think that perhaps things are designed in a way that “fits to purpose” - a term thrown around a lot in design meetings? Why would a video posted before the game’s release be in this format I wonder…

Im sure this game will fit you nicely  at least iracing track guides are made with the guide purpose and helpful I must say, not this show off crap. Enjoy your NFS simulator

I assume you mean the stock R8 vs the R8 LMS, in which case that’s accurate as the R8 LMS is a GT3 competition car.

gtrNL: ‘I suggest you brake late or turn in before the apex…’
OR?
So if I brake late I don’t have to turn in before the apex? And If I turn in before the apex I don’t have to brake?
God what a sh*tty track guide.
Also, when looking at those, speed, handling, acceleration, braking bars in the showroom, they are all the same. So a fast accelerating car, has a high top speed, handles well and is good on the brakes? The only car that I saw (before I got bored with the video) that had different bars was the BMW M3 GTR (e92). It had everything at about 80-85. Except for handling which was at a 100. Hmmm, what was is about the M3 GTR and Shift. Ooh yeah, almost every trailer featured that car, so it’s most probably the ‘advertised car’ of the game, and so it has superior handling…
Damn, I really got high hopes for this game after yesterday’s Pro Mode trailer´s, and it´s all gone now.

It's not very clear but he actually say's: I suggest you brake late or turn in before, at the apex. Listen very carefully and you'll hear it.

bahh looks just like need for speed prostreet, just carried over. I bought prostreet too, my last need for speed game I have ever bought, i thought it was gonna be sim too, i was wrong. It was kinda fun for the first week, but after that, trying to level up and rank up was rather tiring and got borring.

I completely agree, plus check the Audi R8, the RWD variant actually has better handling than the 4WD variant, how stupid is that? Those bars completely suck, at least in their current form.

Welcome to how you promote a game that aims to sell millions of copies rather than a few hundred thousand. It's promotional fluff, you don't need to over analyse everything.

It probably means the game itself isn't completely finished yet (doh) and still has placeholders in a few places.
I mean: come on, even NFS Undercover final version had those bars in order.
As for the cars: I saw in another preview, that each cars has a few icons: the ones that stand out are 'factory' and 'drift' icons. The last one is self explanatory (curses... I hoped I'll be able to build an RWD Focus drift car, complete with rallycross style rear mounted radiators with side intakes... oh well), but the 'factory' one may signify either that garish, pre-made paintjob or perhaps better performance parts (kind of like Suzuki Swift S1600 in client trim has Sachs dampers and in factory trim mysterious, 'no-name' dampers, or how in old WRC factory teams had access to 'development' compound tires while privateers had to make do with standard 'competition' rubber).

The less cars have all the 4 bars at about 15% full and all the uber cars have the 4 bars 80-90 % full. So the bar does represent how good it is in a tier, but overall (unless all the slower tier cars are also completly sh*t even in there on tier).

My complain is that all the cars have their 4 bars the same. Handling is 50, acceleration is 50, everything's 50. And that's just not correct. A Lotus Elise has decent acceleration, so let's give it a 60%. Top Speed is pooh, so let's give that a 25% braking is above decent, so 75%. Handling is supreme, so 90%. And that's the same for all cars, and yet, judging from the showroom bars, all cars with medium top speed, must also be medium to drive, medium under braking and medium in acceleration.

argh, here we go again.
The cars are divided in tiers, every bar represents how good it is in a tier. Do you really think they’re going to make a BMW as fast as an Maserati MC12? They didn’t even do that in previous arcade titels.

No.

So the conclusion is that Shift is an arcade racer and therefore they’ve included the Nordschleife because it’s obviously the best place for 14 year olds dreams come true? Bullshit if you ask me.

Wouldn't be the first time that happens (cough cough Gran Turismo, cough cough Forza cough)

But I'm going to stop posting here now, because I get the feeling that nobody's reading what I'm typing...
First thing you'll hear from me is when I've played the damn game...

Fact is, the "track video" has no educational value and should be called an MTV clip, or be played back at 1/3 the speed. Whoever made it should see a doctor.

I think the track guides are neat. They are clearly aimed at people for whom the idea of a corner being unique or interesting (or challenging) hasn't yet occurred. And looking at them in that light they achieve their goal: You realise that tracks are famous for special corners, you get those corners explained.

An arcade racer is not about identifying and learning hard corners, or about celebrating the challenges in motor racing, it has totally different goals.
