moppenheimer:
ok you got me there, but using an fov that large enough to make the front stretch at laguna look flat is stupid….or it really is shitty track modeling

Not that easy ;)

If you look back at that image, you can imagine that even though on all images it is the same distance to the top of the hill, on the one with the largest FOV it looks longer. Therefore in game you ( brain) think your car is traveling faster (sense of speed).

So although you want a low FOV for realness (distance/steepness/etc.), you need a large FOV for sense of speed and there lie the problems that most racing game developers have. Luckily for us, most SIM have an adjustable FOV setting ;)

It seems Ian Bell(end) has sold out on true nitty-gritty ’simness’ in order for some big bucks in the states courtesy of EA and console gamers.

Lets be fair - I think all of us would opt for some big bucks given the chance, especially when the alternative is bankrupcy. Welcome to the real world

If you do not know the FOV used,m it is almost impossible to say something sensible about the steepness.

As great as it looks, it won't be a proper Sim and that's what's disappointing.

It seems Ian Bell(end) has sold out on true nitty-gritty 'simness' in order for some big bucks in the states courtesy of EA and console gamers.

I have my fingers crossed that it will play at least half as good as it looks, but don't get your hopes up for sheer realism in the physics / features department.

No he's not and no you can't :)

It all depends on the FOV used by the camera in the sim. A wide FOV makes slopes look less steep.

Very Funny. There is no way anybody can ascertain the steepness of a hill from a screen shot like that. Are you just looking for criticisms?

Dear SimGod, God of Sims

Please lead the people of E.A and S.M.S to the right path
to create a good Sim for us humble Simracers

and Curse the one's that think Pitstops are not important
and having 16 cars online is enough.
