EA has released another video trailer of Need for Speed Shift, showing a very fast-paced Shift sequence.
Furthermore, GameSpot UK has interviewed Shift Lead Designer Stephen Viljoen who explains some of Shift’s features.
Developed by Slightly Mad Studios (former Blimey! Games) and distributed by EA, Need for Speed Shift is expected to be released in September 2009 for the PC and all major consoles. A demo of Shift has been announced to be available this summer.

Excellent
.
The 2nd video answers the Missing Demo Question as they are “still polishing” the PC Version after completing the console versions for a simultaneous PC & console release.

“A demo of Shift has been announced to be available this summer.”
The summer is ending… The full game release is about 1 month from now… when will the demo come out? The day before the full game release?

SIgh guys, take it easy.
1st. DIRT2 demo has been released 2 days ago, and that game will hit the shelves on Sept 8th. So I guess you can expect SHIFT demo next week or so.

If you overtake other drivers with such a unreal speed difference, i get my doubts about the AI.
Are they so lame that they drive 100km/h slower???
Or is the driver such an idiot that he uses the other driver as the braking point?
I more and more get the feeling that this game is all about wrecking not about racing.

I’m afraid crashes are a “standard” way of marketing motor racing. In the UK the short clip of highlights at the end of a BTCC or F1 race show what? The crashes.

WTF
was my reaction to that trailer. At the rate the marketing team is smoking we’re only a few steps short of full scale explosions in your face… and I’m not seriously suggesting they try that.

Hmm, the marketing machine still makes sense, i mean even if Shift has a full Simulation Mode that Sim racers woul’d like to have, EA still has to make sure that Shift gets to the broader audience(People that usually only Play race games on the arcade side.), then in the end regardless of Sim or not Sim the Product needs to sell, and simulations are not exactly appealing to the broad masses.
Just think about it, i may be wrong, but we will see the result before official release i guess, and then you can still bash Shift to no end. ;)

Why don’t you all just chill until it gets released? Or at least until we get the demo… The hype around this game, even here on VirtualR, is insane! I myself choose to just ignore it and wait for the game/demo to come and get my opinion from there.

Was that trailer made by a meth addict? Good god that was awful.
Rasmus: Not all of us believe the hype. Happy to be proved wrong and have another sim on the market, but I still believe that come release time, people will be dropping the F from its name.

They promised modability so I’m hoping even if it is shit, that we can harass one of the mod makers to do a physics patch.

The amount of hatred towards GRID (and DIRT in other places) simply blows my mind. These are very good and fun arcade games. It’s like buying a car and moaning that it’s shitty when it comes to sailing.
