pqrs: Blackbox? the developer who create EA skate & skate 2 for x360? hmm… you must be joking EA skate was the most realistic skateboarding game on this planet. however it’s great to see that finally EA realizing to add the cockpit view in their NFS games, hopefully they’ll make this available for all their NFS games in the future

Well this is a NFS topic, and i was refering to the NFS series only (since NFSU). Blackbox in my humble opinion, was the responsible for the quality decrease of the last NFS, and NOW that they've changed of developer, itis sure to be a different NFS (for the best, we hope); less arcadeish and more realistic :)

I agree with you about the cockpit view. The last NFS to use a cockpit view was NFS 5 Porsche Unleashed :S

cheers

Its true, its still from Electronic'disappointing'Arts, but they changed from the previous crappy developer aka Blackbox to Slightly Mad Studios. So one thing is for sure, it wont be the same crap this time...

Come on people. Their not going to shot them selves in the foot, by making this easily modifiable. Do U want them to go out of business. Like all the other Sim developers that made their games modifiable? Then lost future revenues from future content or games. The cars are somewhat modifiable. (customizable). IF they could invent an easy app. for making tracks. (like the golf games), that might be a sale'r. Like
"Bob's track builder".
Moding is rFactors specialty.

moddability... HA! This is EA... so you can expect a new pack of DLC (stuff that should have been in the game from the get go) every other week. I will lick my foot if this game has open source mods. Look at GTR Evo sure we can skin cars but most of teh car files are locked.

I'm convinced by the video's and interviews that the game will have good sim-like physics.

but other things have to be good also. most importantly: force feedback.

second: moddability, in which sims are probably better then any other game genre.

As said many times before, just so all the tools that are slating Shift. Eero Piitulainen of Richard Burns Rally has developed totally new tyre-physics model which is mainly responsible for new physics.
So was Richard Burns rally not a Sim? ye now try reading and learning , fill that emtpy space in between them jugs with something useful.

Once more for the brainless air heads.
    * Professional setting is more accurate to drive than in GTR2
    * Eero Piitulainen of Richard Burns Rally has developed totally new tyre-physics model which is mainly responsible for new physics
    * Difference between 3 physics-models is in assist levels, while lowest setting will provide around 10% of more tyre grip for beginners
    * Lots of efforts has gone into handling development so the game can be driven with controller
    * Professional setting will require wheel in order to successfully manage throttle/braking and steering inputs
    * Shift will feature different car classes - from Golf GTI up to Zonda F
    * All cars can be upgraded and tuned from inside-out
    * Most tracks are licensed European and American circuits with few non-existing tracks
    * There will be few city-circuits
    * Cockpit is the most important visual feature of the game
    * Head-physics is the key difference point to other titles

I just really hope they keep the re-made NFS tracks to a minimum. Visually it looks stunning, but that track layout was dull as doorknobs. I don't mind a few fictional circuits here and there, but I really don't think EA's old arcade pap will translate over all that well. You could tell that track was originally made with flat-out nitrous bullshit in mind.

But I'm pretty optimistic we'll get a nice selection of real-world tracks though.

i think this is looking very promising.
in the vid the car doesn't seem to be floating about ala pgr, he's applying a consistent turn of steering and the car is understeering. always a good sign theres SOME sort of physics in play!
its obviously not going to be a hardcore sim but i think there'll be enough sim in it for it to be fun, combined with the decent multiplayer (hopefully).

I think if you take account of this guys talent as a sim-racer plus the fact he seems to be using a game controller, this Shift is looking pretty juicy.

Dillyracer, Im not so sure about your view about the credit.
I think if Shift delivers the goods in Pro mode (which I think is all we will be using), then it should get the credit it deserves.
It may not be on tracks like GTR2 or F1 but it is racing and Shift seems to be simulating that pretty well from what Ive seen. The graphics are the icing on the cake.

The biggest mistake is the Need for Speed name, even when this is going to be a pretty nice sim ( I don't expect anything, but still ) it won't get the credit it deserves by all sim-racers bcause it's part of the NFS branch.

I agree. I still don't think this will be a rival for iRacing but it looks like it will be much more a sim than previous NFS titles. Remember - this is not the only NFS title coming out - there are other versions aimed at the old NFS market. Combine this with racing cars and real racing tracks and a developer who clearly has the capability and to me its clear this won't be a repeat of the last NFS title.

Everyone who is shunning this game is being a bit stupid.
Come on. Give it the benefit of the doubt, download the demo and if you don't like the game don't buy it.
I'm not saying I'm sure its going to be a simulator but we should just wait and see.
I think its looking quite promising.
