Eter has put together another Need for Speed Shift comparison video, showing a lap in the Koenisgegg CCX on the Nürburgring Nordschleife both in Shift and real life, giving us the chance to compare the track and the car physics.
Mods used for this video include Dario Morelli’s Real Mod 2.0b as well as the recently released Camera Control 1.0 that allows usage of the TrackIR system.

Nice ;)
Found this at Need for Speed Shift Forum regarding the next PATCH:
“I received more information about the patch which I wanted to pass on to everyone. First; some background. All the mods have been very helpful on the site as they’ve collated a range of issues and send them to me. I then collated a larger document from a range of sources and sent them to the game team.
RELEASE DATE
There is no set date yet; the team are still working on the patch so I wouldn’t expect it to be released for at least another three or four weeks. I’m being pretty conservative here; it could more or it could be less. I will update when I hear further. The patch is a very big undertaking with more than just fixes being added to it.
FIXED ISSUES
The team are working on a lot of issues. Some of them have been fixed already while others have been reviewed and will not be fixed. Below isn’t the list of all the fixes; just the major ones I can remember. I’ll update when I’m back in the office.
Bouncing Cars – this has been dramatically reduced and only occurs on mis-tuned cars
PS3 frame-rate issues – this has been fixed although there are reports that 3.0.1 firmware has introduced some more frame-rate issues so we’re investigating.
Muscle Car problems – I don’t have the full list at the moment but the majority of issues involving the muscle cars have been fixed.
NOT ‘FIXED’
Customisable Config – this is not going to be changed in this patch as it involved a significant amount of work e.g. designing a brand-new series of screens for the mapping system. We looked at changing this but it would have meant a lot of fixes not being addressed.
AI Difficulty – The team are not reviewing this as the AI difficulty is seen as a personal preference; what someone might call difficult might be perfect for other gamers.”

It’s a bit of an awkward comparison with that camera shot and personally I can’t stand low quality grainy footage so I didn’t pay much attention to the RL footage, but 1:30 highlights my main issue in Shift with the happy rear end – like there was not enough grip or down force.

Any chance of a working link to Dario Morelli’s Real Mod 2.0b?

Koenisgegg CCX in Shift does not have a rear spoiler. So it probably does suffer from a lack of downforce.
The one in GTR Evolution is even worse and spins out if you accelerate too hard in a straight line.

It’s not the AI difficulty that I have a problem with, it’s AI incompetence. I swear they can’t see past the end of their bonnet sometimes.

Hi,
@CMF_Luka, this Pro driver made some videos on the Nurburbring with several cars and he is virtually following the best racing line you can see in NFS:Shift (at ~95%).
Sure I did a few driving errors because I pushed the car into the limit (almost) while following the driving line 95% of the time.
With the real mod 2.0b I get around 7.35 for a very good lap with the CCX, the real driver in this video get a 7.34 lap time; I’m very slightly faster than him on the first half and he’s very slightly faster than me on the second half.
If you watch the real version apart on youtube (available in HD), the car is indeed not sliding but the driver is pushing it and you can hear some screeching sounds from the front tires which comes from grip loss.
On the ingame video I’m not totally sliding, it’s a grip loss from the front tires. Plus the sliding sound is a bit exaggerated in the game.
You should watch the Maserati MC12 full lap record on Youtube, you will see the driver almost sliding on some parts, that’s due to the front grip loss when he is really pushing the car.
