EA and Ford Motor Company recently staged an interesting tournament, allowing players to prove themselves in the recently-released Need for Speed Shift title driving a virtual version of the Ford Mustang.
The four quickest contestants got to prove themselves in a real 2010 Ford Mustang, trying to replicate their times in Shift on the real-life race track. You can check out their experience below, it’s not very surprising to see that none of these guys came anywhere close to the times they´ve been setting in Shift, despite professional help from Fast Lane Racing School.

Ha. They were able to wreck all they wanted in Shift, to find the limits.

That’s what I meant by saying “not very surprising”

Was this like another marketing thing that failed to make it in time?

This kind of crap makes me really pissed :P. I hope this doesn’t make the retards playing Shift think that it’s realistic.

Next title could be
Need for Belated Promotional Poo
These things make me appreciate more the humble and silent products out there. Pretend to sell a game as a simulator, when there is not yet one, it’s a step too far.

Why even bother having a competition to find the 4 fastest shift drivers so they can then replicate what they do ingame in reallife… FAIL .. they could have picked any average joe who drives to work everyday and he would prolly get similar lap times in the real car too .. nothing to do with shift at all …. c’mon … JOYPADS ffs !

That is SO wrong, I don’t know where to start. Laughable at best. One big nicely wraped lie served up by game developers, to market their product as “REAL” because reality sells as a term, but not as a gameplay element.
If you make it easy to drive and arcadish and succeed in marketing it as real you will have a business success.
