Such a sad thread. :sad2:

Sad that the DLC will only be available for XB360 (or so it would seem for the moment at least).

Sad that many PC gamers are so blinkered they don't realise that PS3 gamers are also not getting the DLC - its not an attack on PC gamers.

Sad that many PC gamers don't realise the real state of PC gaming, thinking its still like it was 10 years ago.

If you guys want to discuss further, feel free to email me. My email address is Drew@NeedforSpeed.com.

spamsac: Regardless of whether or not this is tied up in licensing issues, one perusal of the replies here sadly once again demonstrates exactly why PC users probably aren’t worth the effort. The fact I’ve seen so many “within the community” openly say they illegally downloaded Shift only goes further to add to that. Why don’t people try growing up a little, and stop throwing toys out of the pram. Whilst I’m sure writing “Fuck you EA” makes some of you feel so much better, it doesn’t really do much constructive to change the situation nor provide anything worth reading for the rest of us.Different people have different opinions about Shift, fine. But the general level at which most of the conversation about it (and many other titles/announcements in recent times) seems to be conducted on is quite frankly embarrassing for a community that seems so quick to dismiss the “console kids” and their games and somehow hold themselves in such high regard.

^^^^^^^ Well said! I am very disappointed myself. While I have multiple 360s and a PS3, I prefer to game on the PC since I love NVidia 3D Vision and TrackIR head tracking while driving.

But, I also understand if this is a licensing thing and their response, w/ personal email addresses, seems to be the most professional way to handle it. If it was beyond your control and you worked there, wouldn't you want and appreciate the freedom to respond in such a way.

Let's remember appearances for our small but vocal community do not go unnoticed. PC users need to represent, right? Otherwise it's too easy for them to just produce for the PS3 and 360 alone in the future.

Frankly, when active stereo 3D comes to the PS3 (hopefully w/ head-tracking as well, and in time for GT5!), I may spend less and less time w/ the PC. That would be depending on the final quality of that sim and other content. If I could play Forza III in 3D w/ head-tracking, I'd be cool w/ that (plus not have to deal with these GPU driver update, soundcard, and other PC "maintenance" issues and spend more time pulling laps!)

SETHalpine: Ferrari sells his name!Ferrari has a policy of exclusivity
Ferrari are available ONLY on GT5 for PS3!
At NFS Shift for Xbox 360
No PC version due to the fact, there is more piracy than real customers, and perhaps besause the license has already given at an another games editor.

scca1981: While it definitely sucks us pc gamers won’t get the DLC I in a way can see why.As soon as it would be released it would be hacked and posted for free download probably within an hour of its release. You also have to look at the sales numbers as probably as many if not more people pirated the game instead of buying it.So while it sucks its not without reason.

You're probably right. But on the other hand, I bought Shift for PC and the way it's going now with the DLC, I think I won't buy the next version. I should feel good about buying it, but if EA doesn't care about their PC buyers, maybe next time I'll do with a pirated version.

Which of your asses did you pull that from?Shift sold 1.8 million on PS3 and 1.3 million on 360.That would be about 36% more. Nowhere near “over twice as many”.http://vgchartz.com/games/index.php?name=Need+for+Speed%3A+Shift&keyword=&console=&region=All&developer=&publisher=&genre=&boxart=Both&results=50&order=Hits

spamsac: Regardless of whether or not this is tied up in licensing issues, one perusal of the replies here sadly once again demonstrates exactly why PC users probably aren’t worth the effort.

I pretty much agree with what you say. It doesn't matter what weak justifcations anyone has for downloading the game or weather you then went and bought it afterwards, EA just look at the torrent sites and see thousands of leachers and seeders and just think "bollocks, why bother?"

However, I had a small jibe at the sim credentials of shift above, however that has nothing to do it with it also being console title. I have nothing against consoles, I just don't think Shift is that great a sim when compared to the likes of rFactor and iRacing.

I agree spamsac. We need to support each sim based or sim leaning title to the extent we can if we expect bigger and better things in the future--particularly in the pc realm. Developers can't build a better mousetrap without financing and they won't for the pc market if we don't support them.

Regardless of whether or not this is tied up in licensing issues, one perusal of the replies here sadly once again demonstrates exactly why PC users probably aren't worth the effort.

The fact I've seen so many "within the community" openly say they illegally downloaded Shift only goes further to add to that.

Why don't people try growing up a little, and stop throwing toys out of the pram. Whilst I'm sure writing "Fuck you EA" makes some of you feel so much better, it doesn't really do much constructive to change the situation nor provide anything worth reading for the rest of us.

Different people have different opinions about Shift, fine. But the general level at which most of the conversation about it (and many other titles/announcements in recent times) seems to be conducted on is quite frankly embarrassing for a community that seems so quick to dismiss the "console kids" and their games and somehow hold themselves in such high regard.

Listen everyone, we’re all big fans of Ferrari so we’re disappointed that it’s not going to be available on PS3 or PC too…We would love to provide the Ferrari Racing Series across all platforms. However it is only available on Xbox 360 as a result of existing Ferrari licensing agreements beyond the control of Need for Speed. Don’t worry though because we’ve got something really cool coming in March. Finally, we really do appreciate the feedback you guys give us regardless of whether it’s positive or negative. However, when you do choose to give us your feedback it’s always better received when you keep it G rated. If you guys want to get in touch with us personally you can send an email to Drew (Drew@NeedforSpeed.com), Mike (Michael@NeedforSpeed.com) or Kirk (Kirk@NeedforSpeed.com). Like we said before, we appreciate your feedback regardless of whether it’s positive or negative.
- NFSDrewCould it be the licensing issues for the PC are Slightly Mad Studios Ferrari Project sim?I can’t think of another licensing project with Ferrari for PC that would mess up the use of these cars on the pc version, can you?

F1Racer:
It seems you are undeniably right about this.Shift was one of the most pirated games of 2009 and how many PC owners actually bought it compared to the millions that pirated it ?I`d say a tiny fraction.
So this is why they don’t bother with PC users. Besides everyone hats Shift apparently as its not ’sim enough so extra DLC not coming the PC way shouldn’t matter, right ?

There must be a solution to piracy without the need for things like unpopular DRM. Sure, I am referring to a bigger problem than just the EA / Blimey software, its a problem for all PC publishers (and legitimate games alike).

Steam, whilst it uses its own DRM, is a far more popular form of content protection, therefore I don't understand why more publishers don't use it.
