PIRACY HAS KILLED THE BUINESS ON PC
Quite normal after all

That’s true, but the big disappointment still remains. I’m not going to buy a second version of the game.

If there was no money on the pc there would be no titles. Btw, I hope piracy (or something else) “kills” pc gaming, so (all) the pirates are forced over on the consoles. Hello indie developers, you are welcome to fill the void.

Stabiz you are really stupid…
Watch sales from Bad Company 2 and say again the PC is weak …
And the best piracy protection is simple: A great Game – to protect more Great Online Game…
And there are already pirated DLC Versions of Ferrari for Xbox 360 …

You know what strikes me? Is that the game industry has not made any effort whatsoever to develop a computer anti-piracy system. None, that I know of, and EA excel at easy games to crack. I’d be really disappointed if I owned a Shift version for the PC, and a Xbox/PS3.

I don’t think piracy is the sole issue that’s hurting the PC platform.
The problem is that multiplatform titles sell a lot better on consoles than on the PC. I´ve seen some figures on Shift a while back and if I remember correctly, like 10 or 15 % of the sold copies were for the PC.
Don’t quote me on the exact numbers please but you do get the idea. The vast majority of copies is sold for the consoles, making it much more lucrative to offer this kind of content for the console versions…let alone the much easier distribution via the Playstation Store and Xbox Live.
Does EA even have a system in place to sell addon content to PC gamers? I honestly don’t know…

They have a “store” for PC games as a sort of digital marketplace thing. Dragon Age had a points system where you exchanged money for digi-bucks, (I forget their real name), then digi-bucks for DLC.

If the problem was piracy then all games will be only for the PS3, because the boxs’ hack is really f… easy, and all the games that are for PC and Xbox, are up in the trackers days before the realese – for the xbox. It is a marketing issue, and a good example that big companies/corporations dont care about their customers, but only for the PROFIT. So yes, f… you EA and all the stupid “legal” s..t! And I’m not saying it because I care about a stupid DLC for a medicore (rushed and made anly for profit) game, but because I hate what this industry has become..
Btw the PC made that statistics for millions sold copies, and keeped the NFS series alive for so many years and now they turn their back on us.
Btw2 as ppl sad before – the “remedy” for piracy is simple – maka e good game with good multy and “consumers” will buy it!

They did make a good game. It just didnt suit a lot of the sim racers.
PC sales of Shift were not good.
I’m not sure piracy is a direct reason that these expansion packs are not appearing on PC. Maybe sales is part of the issue but I think licensing also plays a part.
Licensing issued on the PC thus may have come about because of piracy in the first place.
Either way the PC users are getting stuffed once again while the money spinning console market reaps its dues.

Agreed, there is a load of piracy on consoles – most games are leaked there long before PC but because the media doesn’t cover it its perfectly fine. The main issue facing PC gaming is a huge amount of crap games that get released, if they made some decent games they might actually get some sales – DICE managed that with BC2, but there haven’t been many other multiplayer games recently that have done that.

That’s not true: StarForce is an example, the new UbiSoft system is a step in that direction, but it ends in making life for the legal gamer impossible. They force you to be connected to their servers in order to be able to play and if something goes wrong you are not able to play (while people who downloaded it from p2p can).
Attempts to create a copy protections are there, but usually ends in a complication for the legal user while the illegit one couldn’t care less. As written, creating a great game is the best way to be sure to sell many copies.
More than this, not releasing DLC for PC version of Shift is just the opposite of what EA said in the latest period: they considered DLC as an important value because even people who downloaded the full game can buy them, so companies would earn money from these contents. Don’t know if the Shift situation is so bad that they think it would cost them more than what they’d earn.

NFS youtube says.
“The Exotics Racing Series DLC for Need for Speed SHIFT won’t be released on the PC platform because? of the tech and resources involved in developing the delivery of the DLC. During development of SHIFT, we chose to pursue exceptional game quality over implementing the systems required to support premium post-release content for every platform. Given the community ratings of Need for Speed SHIFT, as well as the accolades the game has received, we believe the right decision was made.”

Or not if they make a great game. BFBC2 had more people playing on PC than both consoles combined.

A good way to throw money in the trash can? Make a PC racing game and try to sell it.
