Racer_S has released Camera Control for Need for Speed Shift, allowing real-time editing of the game’s cameras and FOV settings.
While that’s very useful for those looking to make spectacular screenshots and videos, the tool also adds unofficial support for the TrackIR device to Shift.
Important: This tool only works with the 1.1 version of Shift so make sure you have the patch installed.

Excellent!
It’s early days yet, but this slowed my Shift load times to a crawl. I messed about with the FOV settings, got a superbly realistic, narrower viewpoint (using a TripleHead setup) but then had nasty loading pauses on The Ring… including one which made me think the PC had crashed, then another one which really had caused the PC to crash. Or at least go on a very, very long vacation. :-)
I mention this only in case others find the same thing. It’s quite possible I’ve missed something and caused my own problems. But one thing’s for sure, I just stripped it out again to check everything’s back to normal (it is) and the normal viewpoint just isn’t good enough any more.
Right, back to fiddling about. This is a great addition to the growing repertoire of mods for Shift. Well done Racer_S!

The load times do seem to be an issue, though at least today I managed a lap at The Ring without any nasty pauses during the race.
Anyway, here’s a quick experiment with my TIR enabled.
