Less than half a day after the last item on Need for Speed Shift, EA has released new preview material of their upcoming racer, revealing another addition to the title’s lineup of cars – The Aston Martin DBR9.
Unlike the other cars seen in Shift so far, this is no car in semi-fictional racing trim but a real GT1 car that raced in sports car series worldwide. Also included is a new preview shot of the Porsche 997 that failed to make it into the last item.
Furthermore, a recent interview has revealed more tracks as it mentions Road America and Laguna Seca. With Brands Hatch & Willow Springs already confirmed and Spa Francorchamps seen in the latest shots, Shift’s tracklist is starting to shape up.
Developed by Slightly Mad Studios (former Blimey! Games) and distributed by EA, Need for Speed Shift is expected to be released in September 2009 for the PC and all major consoles. A demo of Shift has been announced to be available this summer.

That Porsche picture is weird
1. drivers head is too small
2. Jaggies on Hankook sponsor
3. Jaggies on lines..

I think it looks very good in these pics, starting to look forward to this after recent info/rumors.

The black surrounding his face is foam padding from inside the helmet. Don’t think his head is too small really.
Jaggies refer to lack of AA in screenshots. The “jaggies” you mention are simply because you are seeing a close up shot of an in game texture. When driving, those textures will be more than sufficient.

Welcome to the world (and mind) of a sim racer. :)
..and I agree.
Screenies look great as all the Shift ones do.
I would like to know what platform these screenshots come from. I hate it when its a multi-platform game and they dont tell you which one the shots of videos are from.
So are these PC shots or what ?

Would be nice if we were given a DB9 which we could fully tune inside and outside to make it look exactly like a DBR9.
Getting excited, love the cars and definatley love the tracklist so far.

I agree with gaiajohan, if that is what the game is going to look like it will be disappointing. the head IS too small. look at any real life helmet and you would know that.

Yeah, look:

his head is too small too!
I’m amazed no one noticed how hopeless the roll cage is in that 997. As for the DBR9 it wouldn’t be realistic as you can’t build one in the garage, I think the chassis is taken off from the manufacturing line even before road chassis numbers are stamped on and built up from there.

Yeah, no console shot would have that much AA.

Unless it has been brushed a bit, I have seen that countless times when it comes to console screenies.

Not all real race drivers have as “big a head”, as many sim racers seem to have!
Uff

I thought about it too, but now I’m not so sure about it: the side of the track looks too brown and the bridge seems to be too small to hide one of the old Parabolica turns. More than this, there are no white lines on the side of the track: its a stupid detail, but it amy lead to a different track. And if it will be Monza… well, I will be very happy anyway, being Italian.
(Who talked about over-analyzing?! xD)

Maybe it’s the Nordschleife
No, I don’t think that’s going to get added in a NFS game.

It is monza, I would think. In the third shot of the Aston, see that suspiscously familiar concrete bridge? It’s both in the wrong environment, and too low, to be either of the obvious ones at the ‘ring. IT IS MONZA

I think model wise its not that much prettier then the sims that we now play, but the environment will be much better.

@Dillyracer
I think there was Nordschleife in the Ferrari Project. If they have a license for the real track and the track itself is ready, would be really stupid not to use it.
Also they are talking for big surprises in the following weeks and months, so why not Nordschleife.
Although from a marketing perspective would be smarter to include it in a further DLC.

hey looks really like the nordschleife

I could be mistaken, but in pic 2 you can clearly see blue-white curbs. In all my laps on the Nordschleife, I can’t remember white-blue curbs

Could it possibly be Laguna Seca, does look to narrow for it and the barriers are different, but it’s a possiblity ?
ah well DBR9 is cool :) this game could turn out to be a suprise.
Actually I don’t think it’s Seca now after watching an onboard video on youtube
