These shots look good.  I hope the title exceeds our expectations.  Looks like it’s time for more graphics cards!

  • Nicolas Grignon

P.L.E.A.S.E  SMS!!! NO BLOOM, NO FILTERS, NO CRAPPY EFFECTS! We want something on par with GT5 not less, this look even worst than SHIFT1 modded (to remove these crappy filters/bloom)!!!

  • Uff

These screens finally do justice to the game: much better than the previous one!

  • sommergemuese

Looks better than GT5, nice done SMS (during Gameplay I dont talk about Photo-Mode)

  • R3MaK3R

these pictures make the game look really good. Much better than previous previews.

  • magicalgin

somehow the first 3 pictures make me think: NFS Underground

  • Sarcross

    Spelled exclusive wrong, just saying.

  • Todd

If graphic can’t beat GT5, please SMS use the cockpit and the car handling to beat the GT5~

  • Kredo

Why don’t we get any infos about the career mode? And finally maybe there should be a cut from a actual gameplay from the game – not in form of a teaser …

  • Markuz

Yeah, the graphics look good but please don’t give them ideas about having new graphic cards, else they might do another Shift: Unoptimed for a certain GPU manufacturer. No sloppy graphic engine optimization this time, please!

Just a wee bit more adjustments and we might have photorealistic racing… :)

  • Todd

SMS, are you there, I want ask that have you guys use the experimental environment mapping in SHIFT 2??? I think that those reflection in the screenshots is not as high-res as experimental environment mapping in SHIFT 1~

  • john

Physics will be poor like previous NFS Shift or i’m wrong ?

  • Nismo

The Alfa shots inpaticular look very good as does the Lambo besides the docks.

  • klom

To know something like that we need first to have played the final version and since nobody has achieved time travel yet, your question is stupid.

  • Todd

Look at the tire mark on the static LP640, looks petty cool~

  • Big Ron

how the hell will you see this from screenshots? But maybe you are right. Can´t imagine, that they changed the whole physic system.

  • Nicolas Grignon

@ SMS: Here a SIMPLE touch up of the Alpha Romeo to make your game on par with GT5!
    - Life-like BLUE reflection (normal external reflection is more blue due to the sky and sun color is usually cold- GT5 pinpointed it well)
    - more realistic contrast and darker tone

Here the result, compare it to your genuine shot! (it’s not a great deal to touch up your code, guys!), You want to compete with the (graphic) reference, SO, GET IT RIGHT!

Sorry, good link for touch up here: http://ngrignon.free.fr/Alpha.jpg

  • lvolz

Tire mark?  Where are you seeing this?

  • Nismo

Does look good but too much contrast IMO buy yeah i agree it’s in the right direction. The model looks excellent but wish companys would stop releasing shots with the track like it’s been smeared with vasaline, can’t stand all the blur.

  • Nismo

Actually the more i compare, i think your right as that does look better if a little too much sharpness or contrast not sure what is but the edges look to pronounced and not smooth. But most deffo looks more realistic.

Won’t matter though as they will stick with what they have but that certainly does look better

  • sparrow88

I saw patch updates for PC version for SHIFT, is there any for console or PS3?

  • Nicolas Grignon

Sharpness defect in my shot is more about the Photoshop compression… but it is still better than these “washed out”  screens, we want something closer to the Lighting perfection of GT5 not the over the top bloom/flitermania of Codemasters.

  • Todd

sorry, forgive my poor English skill, it should be tire sidewall marking~

  • Todd
  • Todd

We still got 3-4 month before the game come out, so don’t worry about it~
But here are some of the new race mode:
Old vs. New challenge (where classic cars go head-to-head against their modern counterparts)
Manufacturer Showdown (relive some of the most iconic car rivalries in an all-out-battle to prove which car is the best.)
One Make Race(Single-Type races with the same make of car)

  • Sensekhmet

    It’s Alfa… what’s wrong with you, do you drive a VW? ;)

  • Nicolas Grignon

    Ooops ;)

Seriously, I just sent them an email, hope they will read it.

  • tcb77

It will be good if this time the producers give us the option to disable the virtual arms and steering wheels combo.

  • Ricoo

I don’t find those screen shots exceptional.

Track details are none existant, everything is blurred and cars look like plastic toys…

I am not an iRacing subscriber but I must say that their SPA is a lot more impressive…

  • DevonK

Why bother putting links up that don’t work?

  • DevonK

Not a fan – sure the textures and reflections are great  what is with the lack of smooth-edged curves ( e.g. around edges of headlights, top of doorframe of Alfa)? This isn’t 2005. The broken curves look like something out of NFS:PU.

  • Michael

“I don’t find those screen shots exceptional.”

It’s a game that’ll run on 360 and PS3. The 360 hardware is the same as it has been for the last 5 years.

What did you expect to happen? The magic console fairy would improve the graphics card and new 360 games would all look better? :D

It’ll look, as you can see from the screenshots, like every other NFS title. Graphically it’ll be perfectly fine but not class leading and the cars look like plastic, shiny model toys rather than like metallic cars. But, that doesn’t matter.

What matters is, you can read the interviews SMS physics devs did with the sim community talking about NFS Shift – and then then compare with what they and EA have recently said, and see that you cannot believe a word they tell you.

  • The Biff

I seen iracings spa and it’s hard to tell the difference from their version and gtr2 version of spa.

I have no idea why you guys are bashing the graphics.  EA and codemasters put out the best graphics out there…lol.
