MMG F1 2008 – First Renders

After releasing the F1 2007 mod and the BMW F1.08 (in co-operation with ISI) for rFactor, MMG has started a whole new project – F1 2008.

The mod will include all cars of the 2008 Formula One season, as with their previous mods all cars will be created from scratch. With the BMW already completely done and released, the team has to work on the remaining cars, three of them can be seen below.

The renders show the Honda, Toyota and Torro Rosso models to give you a first idea of what to expect.

Maybe MMG should just get on with the mods that they’ve already announced and hyped to saturation, rather than embarking on another project, which no doubt another mod group is already working on.
Heck, how about first properly fixing the shambles that was their 2007 F1 mod?

If the quality will be the same as BMW 08, we will have a great mod.
Yes, I would like to see some news about 1991 and 1994 mod too: those projects would deserve scratch built cars of the same quality of this 2008 mod. Let’s wait and see.

Now, if they’re working on a 2008 I suppose it’s because 2007 mod needs a different kind of work: main problems were in physic and sounds, so if the car already done, there’s no reason to blok everything while only part of the team is working. I’m glad to see they are going on! ;)

Here we go. First post and the crap already starts.

Maybe you should just shut the hell up and don’t assume to tell people how they should do things.
Plus anyone with a brain can tell that these renders are just models and all the models are done in 2007 mod already. Wheres there overlap ?

Oh and why not grow a pair and post with a non anonymous post.

Thank you Uff. At least someone has the brains to work it out.

When any new mod is announced I think its always a good thing, Im sure this will be a more complete release as they are working on new physics for 2007 which shouldn’t need modified muchfor 2008 really as TC & EB removal had little effect on aero/engine/tire packages. They will have learned alot in the last year, the 91 & 94 mods will come in time im sure but surely its best to get them right first time.

As Uff said – if they can keep the models and textures to be like done on the BMW. Then yes it will be great in the eyecandy department. Whereas in the 2007 models, they wern’t that great for the eyecandy: barring Toyota – Honda and Spyker. The mclaren was the next best in line with renault and RBR/STR. If you can keep consistency between all the models, then yes it will work.

Physics – well thats another department and although I dislike the physics currently for the 07 mod & will probably again hate them when the next update is out if phil keeps to his word of him doing them. But physics for this mod is gonna be a while off, yes they can start them now but its still gonna be a while off.

    Anyway to sum up:

If all models are to the level of the spyker in the 07 mod and BMW in the ISI 08 release, then yes this will be a great mod for eyecandy. But if they are worse than these two cars I mentioned, then no it won’t be a great mod for eyecandy.

And still – need to make sure the tyres are fixed properly. Not the right size at all, and any excuse “this is a early season car etc..” is just b0ll0cks as the tyres are the exact same for every single car on the grid.

And as for these renders… its hard to see if it will live up to the BMW/Spyker models until its been textured and put in game and unedited shots are released. Sometimes it can be quite hard to see in F1Racers renders with the textures as he does a blardy good job of them. If he could render Iran, he could make it look into a great country.

Thank you Ryan. That was a nice post man.

BTW I didnt make these renders.
And for the new 07 Physics, yes Phil is on that one, but they are a marked improvement over the originals. The car is sitting properly above the track now, the wheelbase measurements etc are now all accurate.
Its actually very good imo. Maybe MMG will surprise you. ;)

Ryan’s post made a lot of valid points. We are still learning as we go along and we have learnt from our previous mistakes. I admit the first releases of the F1 2007 mods we made were just pathetic, I admit that. This is why I hope that the new versions will surprise quite a few people. We have worked really hard and listened to a lot of the community feedback to try and fix things. Public Edition will have different engines for each team and different physics for each car. So we’re pretty much trying to make right the mistakes we did in the first releases. I think its safe to say that the community won’t have to worry about the model quality for the 2008 mod. As well as some different features we want to try and bring to the 08 mod to make it more unique, I am hoping we can turn around and produce a more complete mod in the communities eyes, as I hope the new 2007 PE and SE will be seen as more complete mods.

We’re working hard and doing the best we can. As for why the modelers are working on 08 cars. The 07 cars are completely done and it is a different group of modelers who work on 91 and 94 and thats not the reason those mods are not progressing, its because we have key people disappearing on us. Those are people I have to try and replace and it takes time. I would love nothing more then to have those mods released and out of the way right now, but unfortunately we keep getting shafted with those mods.

I am currently writing tonights blog post that will discuss about 07 next releases, 91 demo progression and 08 mod. So keep an eye out at http://www.makmodgroup.com/devblog

which is my new official devblog for MMG stuff. The post should be up within 30-60 minutes.

MMG 2007 has good graphics, nice shapes and textures, but the physics are crap, hope the new physics for 2007 will be much better as i think that the 2008 mod physics will be almost same physics.
