Despite rumors about the project being scrapped, MMG has now released their Formula One 1991 mod for rFactor.
The mod includes 18 teams and 34 drivers of the 1991 Formula One season, including legendary drivers such as Nigel Mansell, Ayrton Senna, Alain Prost and a young German named Michael Schumacher, tackling his very first Grand Prix races.
Included are brand new sounds by Montesky and new physics for all cars, bringing another season of F1 racing to rFactor.
Mod removed due to unauthorised content!

Bunch of old models, badly converted, without permission. Completely stolen. The textures even have the original authors names on them.

MMG has become a joke :( Sometimes I really wonder what’s going on with them, they have some good members, but sadly they are being pulled down in a deep, dark hole… I hope the V2 of the 2007 mod will prove what MMG really is capable of doing ;)

Half of it’s stolen, half of it’s converted. Lovely jubbly. Not *quite* the scratch mod they’d have you believe..
For some reason they say this is a demo, yet it’s v1.0 and contains all teams.. but all the cars are apparently going to be redone for the “full” version. So why release this at all, let alone include more ripped content than most normal mods have content full stop..
You can’t just rip people off then say it’s ok cos you’re redoing everything for the “full” version! You released it!

If only there was no reason for MMG discussions to get heated, lol.
This mod needs to be removed from everywhere asap, it’s as bad a rip as any mod out there and it’s kinda a personal issue for me since i was heavily involved with the mod it’s butchered and pillaged.

how can the 1991 season be disregarded like this
Siggs
November 27th, 2008 at 02:32
.
*Copy and paste from my post at NoGripRacing.com*
I have to say, my dreams have almost completely crushed, just playing this.
1991 is possibly my favorite F1 season, and i’ve been extremely eager for any mod with 91′ content to be released. As you probably saw in my last post, i was very much anticipating this demo.
But im not even sure you can call it that. When i loaded it up, i saw slightly dull textures. “thats no biggie” i thought to my self, as i loaded up my most raced track, Montreal.
But once on track, it was a different story. scrolling through the car camera’s, i saw that hardly any of them had been properly placed. The interior of the car was a mess, the driver model unsuitable, the model not optimised for rF in any way.
And the driving was truly a painful experience. Im not going to mention the sounds, surrounded by controversy the most, but i can safely say that the physics of the one car i drove were truly abisimal, even i could tell that on my wheel. Acceleration, braking and grip, none of them were at all like i was hoping or expecting, and the cars were almost impossible to spin, incredible. Rubbing a wall saw all extremeties of your car skattered to the four corners of the track map, and so any kind of racing against other cars was made truly impossible. Theres a picture of a mass pile up on rFc, and i expect that this is the standard first-corner result of every race started.
These points, and more, and yet MMG still saw fit to release this to the world, reducing their respect in the community to drastically negative levels.
Having played the 2007 mod from MMG, i had high expectations from this over-ambitious mod-team. Mabye that, and my love of the 91′ season, made the fall all the larger for me. But even so, i cannot understand any people from the modding community that would consider releasing this controversal drivel, after so long in anticipation.
What respect i had for MMG has been blasted away, only leaving a sense of loathing towards this group of people, who are so expert at raising peoples hopes, and dashing them in an instant.
My hope is that the evil F1 version of this GP4 mod, can gather together my dashed hopes.

tarnakman, I agree that not every team shall be like CTDP, IDT or Virtua_LM, etc…
But this can not be considered a demo instead a very bad pre-alpha.
What I guess most disturbing is that CTDP wont do a 2007 and 2008 mod and we dont have a 2007 or 2008 quality mod. It is pity because I enjoyed very much those seasons and our dear Sony let PC users screwed for almost a decade (2003-2008).
I agree with the 1990-1993 relevance too.
Cheers.

Good to see link removed. Agree this thread is painful, but no – I’m sure MMG is not hiding under a rock. This is pathological behavior for them, and I’m sure it will happen again. Just look at their actions over last 6mths. Amazing that a group with so much talent could have so little common sense, but guess it is what it is. Sad…..
F1Racer
November 27th, 2008 at 19:23
amgsport, what are you talking about?
What pathological behaviour? What actions over the last 6 months ?
I reckon the F1 2007 mod will be MMG’s saviour. There’ll be no content issues there cos its all scratch built in-house.
All MMG built with current serving members, no using cars from other games, confusion or people getting the wrong ideas about stuff.
The difference between this mod and the 07 one will be night and day. Then we`ll see whats what. This mod should stand up on its own regardless of reputation.
Of course it won’t be allowed to by some but thats another matter.
amgsport
November 27th, 2008 at 19:43
I reckon you don’t understand pathological behavior – your post offers about 4 different examples of the condition, primarily resistance to the obvious – lol.
Bjorn
November 27th, 2008 at 20:07
Pathological comes from the word “pathos”. It’s emotionally behavior. So AMGSport means the way MMG reacts to the fact that people is slamming their mod.
amgsport
November 27th, 2008 at 20:27
Very nice Bjorn – thank you. From another angle, its also reflective of the way MMG et al expect the community to react – and the incredibly unstable nature of the group’s responses when reactions aren’t quite what they expected.
F1Racer
November 27th, 2008 at 21:07
amgsport, what resistance ? I never directly mentioned any of the goings on with the 91 mod.
I just asked you to clear up your previous post, which you have not done.
Then I mentioned the 2007 mod which thankfully will show the better side of MMG.
Nothing pathalogical there and no resistance to anything obvious.
Nice to see the community has its own psychologist now.
Plus how can anyone expect those kind of rabid, childish and hate filled reactions. I mean you can expect some but somehow people always find a way to take things to a whole new level.
End of the day, this is a mod for a game. Life is so much a bigger picture and yet to some this seems to be their definition of life.
Lets see how things go when 07 is out. There`ll be positives, there’ll be negatives and most of all there’ll be those that post the same crap just because it has an MMG stamp on it. Totally disregarding the work put in, no sense of perspective and just saying whatever crap leaves their lips (so to speak) no matter how good this mod might be.
THATS what MMG will be expecting. So wheres the suprise ?
If there is one thing that certain people are, its predictable.

You even fail at being a smart-ass. That must suck for you.
stabiz: Its to do with MMG so as the 91 mod is pulled I`ll drag 07 into it if I want whether you want to listen to it or not. (still calm, amgsport)
Wil: You know there will be. Not that some deserve it.
In that week some final fixes were being made also. Do you mind ?
The mod is now done and is having its installer done. 5 mins you might think but there are timezones so you`ll just have to wait longer. (still calm, amgsport :) )
btw amgsport: Talking of pathalogical. I`ll wager that every time you say ‘ROFLMAO’ you are lying. :D

Does it matter what is going on with mmg? if the mod is illegal, then it should be removed, and if not, then it should be listed. What ever goes on in the modding group doesn’t matter, unless we can help… let’s just wait and see how their other releases will be like…

Wow, wow, wow… Keep me outta this… I was just explaining to you and others what “pathological” meant and that it came from the the Greek dictionary in the form of the word “pathos”. And “pathos” has something to do with feelings and emotions, how they are expressed and such. And AMGSport was just trying to figure out MMGS’s pathological behavior. And from my point of view MMG’s pathological behavior and way of tackling people slamming their mod was being quiet or “hiding under a rock”, as another member said.
Now MMG is not keeping quiet anymore cause you, F1Racer has stated that the 2007 V2 will show MMG’s real potential (as I did myself in the start of the long list of comments ;) )
Og hej med dig, Steno, hvordan går det? ;)

I already enjoy 2007 SE. Im only disapointed by the fact that v2 wont have visible mirrors. This will be a step back from SE.
Regarding MMG behavior I guess most of people dont understand how the got 2007 and 2008 (BMW) so great in terms of car models and release this crap (sorry) leached and so bad mod under its label.
My best regards.

I know m8. Well the 07 and 08BMW are cars that were built in-house from the ground up.
The 91 mod had cars from other people who lead MMG to believe that all permissions were in place and MMG didn’t seem to question it. So it got put out there and because things weren’t checkup up on properly, the shit hits the fan.
Thankfully when MMG does build a mod from scratch like 07 / 08 the results are much much better and more in line with what should be coming out from a mod group.

November 28th, 2008 at 13:29
Once again I feel sorry for the talented group of people who are working on the 07 & 08 mods from MMG because shit like this just gives those with vendettas & their sheep ammunition to use against the upcoming 07 release. Sure their will be people who wont like it, I might not & we would have the opportunity to comment on it. If, for instance, an upcoming F1 mod based upon the 2007 season were to be released without the MMG logo stamped on it & without a credit list as pompous as a shit hollywood movie it wont get half as much flack.

I don’t see why MMG releases a mod of this quality. Even if the models itself were not made by MMG modelers this can’t be the standard MMG is aiming for. In this case the 1991 mod never should have been released.
Also Yanden is announcing so many things before even one mod is finished. I don’t think this is very clever. And now we can see what happens if you’re announcing 10 mods a year. Even if the mod isn’t finished and you haven’t got any permission to use the models you’re releasing that mod anyway.
Maybe MMG shouldn’t wonder why there is always that kind of discussion if they won’t change their behaviour.
Bjorn
November 28th, 2008 at 15:31
Exactly, Erale! That’s MMG’s biggest problem… It’s the management.
And to unklepepper… I totally agree with you on the part where the problems with 10 mods announced a year and bad products like 91-mod will make MMG look less “professinal” or less “capable” of producing a good and finished mod. It’s sad for the members working on 07-08 mods that is of a higher/worthy standard, when bad things like the ones mentioned above happen.

“The 91 mod had cars from other people who lead MMG to believe that all permissions were in place and MMG didn’t seem to question it.”
This is actually untrue and permissions were dispute on the MMG forum on RSC months ago. MMG then released the mod claiming that the cars were all scratch built and permission was not needed. This was a lie, as can be seen by the DDS with the authors name on it, and the wireframes which have been posted. The correct authors were not listed for the content in an attempt to get around the well documented problems with the permissions.

Greek guy dictionary assistance:
πάθος [páthos]: a tendency that dominates over our conscience in a profound way that clouds our judgment and overall behaviour.
So they used words pathos to describe obsessions or emotions like jealousy, revenge, greed etc. A pathological condition is one that needs medical, psychological or otherwise attention.
I don’t know what fame the 2007 mod (that was released already with same physics for all cars as a mistake supposedly because of packing error when there weren’t such physics, hence the time needed to develop them and the ripped track pack) is supposed to restore, but even if I want to avoid personal insults or seem to put everyone in MMG under the same tag, I find amgsport’s comment spot on. Cause not only they (their leadership?) lie to the community about things noone asked them but don’t respect anyone within the community which is fine (for some) if at least they don’t intend to claim that they do have permissions, but then they lie about that as if they can’t even imagine that truth will come out. Talk about pathological liers.

Sad part is we, as the sim community, are pawns in this game. Even those of you who defend MMG are still being played – open your eyes and see the truth for what it is!!
Defend MMG – trash MMG – I REALLY DON’T CARE ABOUT MMG!! If they come out with a decent mod I’ll use it – imagine that!!
And if they can release it without all the disrespect and vitriol that comes from most of what they do all the better.
