MMG Announces World Racing Challenge

MMG, creators of the Formula One 2007 mod for rFactor and plenty of other interesting work-in-progress projects have announced a very ambitious new mod project for rFactor and RACE07/GTR Evolution.

The World Racing Challenge will include road cars from all around the globe that can be upgraded with a variety of parts such as bodykits, engines and other tuning possibilities. The cars can be raced in different forms, from drifting to drag racing and circuit racing, many forms of motorsport will be possible.

The mod plans to make extensive use of rFactor’s mostly-ignored money system, meaning that you have to earn money before you can spend it on new parts or cars. The team’s ultimate goal is to create a Gran Turismo like mod for rFactor.

Due to the game’s limitations in terms of upgrades and missing credit system, MMG will face a special challenge with the RACE07/GTR Evolution version of the mod, the team hopes to bring over as many features as possible.

MMG’s Petros Mak points out that this project will not slow down MMG’s other projects as a completely different department of the team will be working on the World Racing Challenge. Since this is a big project, the team is looking for talented people to join their staff. If you like road cars and dig the idea, hop over here and contact them.

Below are the first World Racing Challenge previews, showing the Mazda RX7 FC modelled by Sergey Poltavskiy.

the money system is too easily abused, i respect MMG for giving it a go but if people get impatient then they will cheat, Then again i guess it is up to the player how they want to play the game.

  • stabiz

Wow, MMG must have a huge team.

  • erale

And they’ll never learn… Again they announce a new mod without even finishing one mod. Where are the 91 and 94 mods? Shouldn’t there be demos out already?

And now the next big thing. A Gran Turismo for rFactor. How many cars would there be? Sorry but I can’t take these guys serious anymore…

  • Paul Kelly

First, about the mod. As Zud said, abuse of the money system will be rampant. Just like in Gran Turismo, you’ll have drivers with little talent simply piling on the horsepower to either win or wreck half the field in the first turn.

If we wanted Gran Turismo, we’d buy it.

Second, about MMG. Well, you can’t fault this group for ambition. But that ambition means little when existing mods under construction by MMG are left hanging in the ether.

As erale said, where is the 1991 F1 mod? The 1994 F1 mod? And what about the arrogance from MMG toward the community upon the botched first release of its F1 2007 mod?

Nobody in the rFactor mod world overpromises and underdelivers like MMG. I know these guys do this work for free, but so do countless other modders who instead keep the hype to a minimum and release quality work to the community on time and with an appreciative spirit toward constructive criticism.

I just can’t take breathless promises of any new mod very seriously anymore from MMG, and I know never to respect any release deadline set by this group.

I hope that Niels van Heusinkveld physics methods would be used as guide to create whatever the cars are goin to be here

we just have to sit back, wait and enjoy. We have alot to expect. :)

well..idea it’s really good…but MMG grounp have LOT of work to do in lots of mods….:) anyway good luck for this project!

  • Ryan Gilmore

I do have to ask. Where the hell is the Initial D mod? Thats something ‘similar’ – apart from it being a Drifting mod. I think you should stop announcing so many mod developments. And just focus on a few, and when developments get to a level where they are only a few months off (i.e. 75% of cars in game running).

Got to give it to them, they do have ambition, but don’t help themselves by announcing mod after mod after mod.

  • DeDios

“Where the hell is the Initial D mod? ”

yeah, where’s this mod?? was a great idea..but..no news for years..

  • mastersetter

I have to agree with some of the other users here, i really wish they would concentrate on finishing the other mods before jumping into another ambitious project. I just fear they are stretching themselves too far :???:

  • Crazy Bored

Wow, I am in disbelief, lol.

  • Paul Kelly

@mastersetter “I just fear they are stretching themselves too far”

Stretching their development or PR resources too far? MMG’s hype-ridden press releases about upcoming mods outnumber their completed mods by about 20 to 1.

  • Bjorn

The MMG-group is a bunch of over-ambitioned newbs! And they keep demonstrating this time and time again! Sorry, but I’ve completely lost all respect for them.

whats the use of a grand turismo like mod on rFactor. it would never compare to the real thing. is MMG going Arcade now? is there a need for arcady like mods in rFactor? would it not atract even more ramming and bashing?
A while ago i started iRacing. after being negative and read all the negative posts,i just had to go and take a look. i now extended my license. untill RfACTOR2 i will not return to it. ( exept for the WSGT release testing ) iRacing has shown me the difference between Serious simracing and so called simracing. i dont think a game within a sim will help rfactor taken more seriously. ( i would like to note i am refering to public racing. as far as league racing is concerned i do see some great racing on rFactor and GTR2 )

I am really looking forward to this one

I think WSGT2 will be releaed before this one though

  • Wil

    JOKE!

They just cancelled their legendary “2007 trackpack” for their forever WIP F-1 2007 mod.

  • dwkulcsar

MMG will probably absorb some newbs and clain they are highly skilled. MMG once promised a 1950-present F1 mod; now seems like the only way they can get some support is to announce mod after mod…how about announcing if a mod is cancelled so we can get our hopes down?

  • Grozni

Peteros will never know when to stop this BS

    hype maniac

  • Mitos

Where is F1 2008 ? MMG Announcers. MMMMMMMM? U spend your(& our) time on rubbish! I dont want any WRC(?) – only if itsnt World Rally Championship! We want F1 2008!

  • Danny

Amazingly mmg becomes more retarded by the day. What a comical mod announcment that will take a decade to produce if mmg ever bothered to do it, which they wont of course just like with their other mods. Petros mak is a deranged idiot, and all his followers are brain washed disciples. They are all a bunch of hacks.

These idiots are too stupid to even consider if anyone even wants this type of mod in rf, which they dont. People want to drive race cars not road cars with a money system. ISI released rf with a money system and everyone hated it and hacked it right away yet 3 years later these mmg monkeys are making a mod based on that very system. You have to be extremely stupid to do that.

The only thing mmg are good for is making the community laugh.

  • prenthouse

    @Danny,
It’s so easy to critisize! Why don’t you make a mod yourself to make us laugh?

  • Danny

Ah look another dumbass mmg fanboy.

  • Mitos

Did U see Progress Bar by F1 2008 MMG on rF Central! Its delirium!

  • Mitos

We will have F1 2008 MMG in 2018, I think!

  • xilix

As far as needing real road cars in rfactor and GTR2, we DO in fact need them, but not in a ricey Fast&Furious BS kind of way, and not in a Grand Turismo  kind of way either.

We need a serious mod group to take on a serious project. I’m talking about a mod that has about maybe 10-15 sports/exotic cars. Miata’s, RX8′s, Mustang’s, 350z’s, then on up to the bigger cars like the Nissan GTR, Porsche 911 Turbo/GT2, Corvette ZR1, 599GTB, Viper, DBS ect. ect… and I’m talking about amazing models, like the new Supra that’s going to be released for rFactor soon. Stuff on that level, with impeccable physics.

Screw the bodykits and ridiculous paint jobs and huge wings. Just bone stock sports cars with amazing modeling and physics. It can be done well, and it can be done tastefully (without a stupid, ridiculously needless money system). All we need is the right people for the job, and MMG are NOT the right people!

And another thing: I can’t stand Grand Turismo!! I want these sports cars for Rfactor and GTR2 because I want a SIMULATION of these vehicles, not a damn arcade game.
