Michael Schumacher’s rFactor Simulator

Ferrari Formula One drivers seem to develop a liking for rFactor as Michael Schumacher joins Kimi Raikkönen as prominent user of ISI’s simulation.

The seven-time world champion has opened a new simulator at his indoor-karting track, giving visitors a virtual F1 experience. The simulator runs rFactor and uses g-forces simulation for added realism. Schumacher tried the simulator and had nothing but praise for the simulation afterwards.

“Ferrari has a professional simulator in their headquarters where setup changes and developments are simulated and I´m very amazed how similar our new simulator feels to that. It’s a great opportunity to get an idea of what Formula One racing is about”, Schumacher commented.

Below is a link to a short video, sadly showing very little of the simulator itself. It can’t be seen which mod is been used, the track is definately Montreal though.

how cool is that rFactor this is why so meany people are playing this great game and all the great mods

did someone say iRacing? o sorry my bad :sd:

  • Crazy Bored

He obviously wants Formula 1 cars, and iRacing has nothing like that.

  • stant

The Carbon face, switch layout, Blue LED…He uses FREX SimWHEEL on his simulator!

  • ForzaBarca88

Hmm, I’m surprised he wouldnt use something custom built from one of those specialised companies like BRD. Still, it shows how far commercial sims have come in terms of actually getting the physics right. Too bad the tracks in rfactor arent laser scanned :sd:

  • Klaas Jan

Maybe Schumi finds iRacing too expensive? :sd:

  • FooAtari

Anyone know which F1 cars run on the simulator he has setup.

  • zudthespud

ForzaBarca, a couple of rfactor tracks are laser scanned, eastern creek is one of them.

  • ScHiRoCk

Very nice to see, maybe something i will do in the summer when i drive to the nordschleife :sd:

  • hypertek

they probably set him up with it as an attraction for the place.

Hopefully he has discovered the downloadable mods/tracks and online play. That would be awesome he might enjoy it.

The software he’s using is rF Event, which is a commercial version of rFactor. The car is the new rFactor FIS which will be replacing the current f1-type car included in the retail version. It’s a pretty cool set-up he has.

  • hypertek

so rf event must be like rfactor but has admin controls like time limits/credits huh?? I remember seeing rfactor at a tire booth at a car show, they where having “pull the best lap times” contest to win some free tires.. Figured it was probably some special rfactor with some admin controls via another computer or something.

Its great to know that you can have your own “f1 simulator” in your own home that is similar to what the pro teams use.

Sort of, kind of. ISI has modified software for different commercial applications. Not that many people know about it yet. It’s actually illegal to use the retail version of rF for commercial/promotional use. People need to read the EULA
