Mercedes-Benz CLK-GTR & Porsche 911 – Released

Team GMT has released their Mercedes-Benz CLK-GTR & Porsche 911, bringing two German GT racing legends to GTR2.

Both cars were stalwart competitors in the FIA GT Championship and the Le Mans 24 Hours at the end of the 20th century.

Powered by a six-liter V12 engine, the CLK-GTR was Mercedes’ weapon of choice during the 1998 FIA GT championship, a slightly different version of the car also tackled the 1998 24 Hours of Le Mans.

Powered by a 3.2 liter twin-turbo flat-six engine, the 911 GT1 was Porsche’s weapon of choice in the FIA GT Championship and the 1998 Le Mans 24 Hours which it won, driven by Alan McNish, Laurent Aiello and Stephane Ortelli.

for GTR2 by SimBin. The use of this modification is

Simply follow the instructions of the setupfile.

During the installation you will need to accept an end user
license agreement (EULA) but I want to point some details out.

We worked very hard and long on this mod and we hope you to
appreciate and have respect for that. You can do what ever
you want with the car on your own PC but if you want to convert
it to another simulation or add something to the mod and release

But there are things you can do as much as you like. Paint skins,
make screenshots and movies and last but not least… HAVE FUN!

    I loved the 911 GT1 mod when it first came out ( http://www.virtualr.net/porsche-911-gt1-for-gtr2-released ) and I am glad to see the CLK join the mod, thanks for the work everyone. Now off to fire up GTR2!

    Just want to mention what was posted on GTR4u.de: It is a CLK-LM and not the CLK-GTR. Different cars with different bodywork, engine and success in racing ;)

    Is this for GTR2 evo? I’m a bit confused about which I have. I have GTR2 FIA GT racing game is what it says on the cd. Date on the edge says 2006 simbin. Any clarification would be great as this title has been collecting dust. Thanks in advance.

    GTR2 is the right one, not GTR Evo. GTR2 still a great driving sim so any chance/reason to fire it up is a good one. The previous version of the Porsche 911 GT1 mod did make it to the Race 07 family of games (GTR Evolution, Race On, etc etc etc) .

    Had this evocative mod not surfaced, I would very likely not have reinstalled GTR2 for ages, possibly ever. And that would have been a shame, because one is reminded just how good a sim it was/still is. Very nice flow to the driving. Obviously the likes of PCars are tending to make legacy sims like this look somewhat geriatric, especially in terms of lighting and overall graphic quality, but GTR2 is a very well rounded title, with a lot of features we scream out for elsewhere, like built in Motec telemetry, super-large car entries and, most rare and perhaps most coveted of all, the in-race save. Why oh why oh why do developers not seem to think that’s an important asset? I’m pretty busy 7 days a week and am lucky to get in more than an hour’s decent simming a few times a week. The ability to save your progress during constant interruptions is so nice.

    The new mod itself is nicely done and makes for some interesting experiences around Le Circuit de la Sarthe, Spa and the Nordschleife.

    I just wanted to come back and report that this mod is really good. I had forgotten just how good GTR2 in itself was and is still a good racing sim! Thank you to the mod makers for giving this old girl a reason for us who own GTR2 and shelved it for other titles a kick in the pants for us to give it another reinstall! Two thumbs up!
