Can’t imagine anyone’ll really download this, surely? FSOne 2008 was a fantastic mod, and the previews from this by comparison are a bit… patchy. No offence intended of course, but when you’re making the same mod someone else has, you hold them up against eachother.

we did a 2007 mod after FSone came out with their 07 mod and yet people still downloaded it, not to mention all the 2009 and 2010 mods that are out. I’m sure everyone has a favorite season, for whatever reason and Hamilton fans make like this season as it was his championship year. As far as patchy, it is still a W.I.P. and there are still some stuff being finalized on the models as well as updates being done on existing ones. Obviously some bugs will need to be worked out, but i think the final product will be pleasing. If you’d like, read our dev blog, theres a bit i included kind of explaining some stuff in the 08 mod.

I don’t mean to offend anyone, and I know that my words will pass thru MMG’s eyes like glass but I think they (MMG) have so many great mods announced to be comming that I (and I guess, more people) would love to play more than F1 2008… For that, we have FSOne 08 that it’s a pleasure to drive…

IMHO, Sim modders need to work together more than “I can do better than that… watch me!” When the previous work is already great… FSOne 08 is in top 10 f1 mod’s in rfactorcentral, I guess (although that site has less credibility each passing day…), so I don’t get the need to try to top it… I guess MMG could put that work in some other mod… I’m not saying that your mod won’t be better… you guys make brilliant mods and you have all my trust, I just don’t think the 2008 season needs to be topped…

Anyway, I’m just a noone BLA BLA BLA’ing about what I don’t know :P

Now, what matters… the mod looks GREAT! One thing I would LOVE to see is the SimRacingPL new shaders implemented… they make rfactor look like a new game, really ;)

Will it be compatible with realfeel? 

well, the thing is we already have most of it done, aside from some updates and such, so i don’t think the modellers and such would want to waste all that work. its not a matter of trying to outdo any other groups work, but to make a high quality mod. as far as realfeel, i havent used kangaloosh because i personally don’t like it, though when i do test the feel, i have used a mix of realfeel and leoFFB to get a better sense of suspension feel and tire slip. With the suspensions being more accurate than in the past though, realfeel should work well enough with it.

as far as the shaders go, i’m not sure, thats something we’d have to discuss and see, but its a posibility that we might persue yes.

Keep in mind guys that this mod started March 2008. Before any other 2008 mod was announced. Unfortunately with people leaving of having no time due to school, work or personal issues the progress has been really slow. With only a few people working on it and those people also loosing time on other projects and personal life, this mod was left hanging for a long time. We don’t want the effort that has been put into it go to waste though, which is why we are going to complete it, even if it has taken ages. The models are up to par to go into rF2 without needing conversion or upgrading. So hopefully then end result will justify the long time the mod has taken.

The fact that derek nye is the head physics guy at mmg just shows what a joke that place is. For the people that dont know, derek, like his master petros, likes to masquerade as an expert but is totally clueless, and doesnt know anything about anything he is a total amatuer. he just puts random numbers in. Thats why the 2007 physics were bodgy but i think he was helped by phil who knows a bit. derek nye and petros make a fitting partnership.

Doesnt sounds like a large, professional mod group which is the arm of a corporate company, as petros keeps presenting mmg as. Infact it sounds like an amatuer rabble, which is exactly what it is, which is why in 5 years they have only created 1 average mod. talk is cheap petros, the facts speak for themselves.

thats right because most f1 mods aero figures calculate out to 1.00 being the maximum the downforce figures should of been whereas phil felt his should be 27.00? yea thats really realistic. Thats why the teams we have done simulators for and drivers who have run our simulators promote is as being realistic and promote it at all races they go to? thats what i thought.

and what is that average mod?? F12007??? well after all those years it is still one of my favorite mods. Of newer F1 seasons I have 2005 and 2006 from CTDP, 2007 from MMG, 2008 and 2009 from FSONE and 2010 from RFT. I still like to drive MMG’s 2007 mod an I don’t agree it is an average mod

This is about F1 2008 guys, not about all the once-announced-but-never-finished ones. Though a lot tend to blame us for finishing this one…Guess saying we’re done with it wouldn’t please anyone either, would it? Although a few would like to make us believe they do not care if this one is finished or not, probably it would be the same being angry if it’s cancelled. I’m quite confident ALMOST EVERY f1 fan will try it once it is finished. About other F1 2008 mods being released, FSOne is like the only big one. To all men out here, wouldn’t be very interesting if all women would look the same, would it?

Well, rFactor is obviously a promised land for F1 maniacs but I think that even them don’t know which mod they should play first. I would be contended with one or two modern (post-2005, let’s say) mods cos all modern F1 cars looks and drive the same for me. I have CTDP 2006 and FSONE 2008 and I have no need for trying anything new now. But I am not an F1 maniac, after all.

What have you done in those ages that has past, any mod to proove it maybe? NO, so why dont you zip it and just keep your opinion for you? It becomes even more ridiculous to read the same “smart” comments from some “smart” users. How can you comment them when they make sth for all of us for FREE?

That’s an honest thing to say, and it’s your very right to do so…I do not expect everyone to be an F1 maniac, but I feel the ones that do not need an F1 mod should not tell mod teams what to make and what not. If something is not your favourite pick, so be it. I’m not at all into road cars either, and I’m not watching at all what happens on that field. But I’m also not saying them they shouldn’t be working at what they prefer. You’re not doing so either…we’d need more of your kind :)

Some peoples put Fsone as a BIG AMAZING mod only for the graphics but forget fsone make a lot of error year by year, and forget some little details in cars.
Like, the shift lights in BMW Sauber, MMG make the right one.
Fsone have too that annoying bug of engine blow, and fsone fans say to all “hey dumbs put the mechanical failures in normal, or go play another mod.”
So we will have now another mod to play.

do these guys realise 2008 was….3 years ago. there were hardly any rule changes between 2007 and 2008, why not just work on a new 2009 or 2010 mod where the cars are fundamentally different. 

Since it seems that rFactor fans don’t need another F1 2008, please guys could you first release it for GTER Evo. :-D

Same reason people get to choose between games like NHL 08 by EA or 2KS, sure they all have the same teams but its a matter of preference. And even tho there is an NHL 2011 doesnt mean 2008 still isnt fun to play.

Heaven forbid I interrupt your red mist, but I can’t quite remember where I mentioned anything about MMG as a group. I was talking objectively about this mod compared to what’s already availabe and I thought it was a fair point but by all means, if you want to push your agenda then go ahead.

I dont get it, we get all these people saying  were shit because we dont release anything so now we have something coming out and all those same haters are saying we dont need this mod in the community because of the FSOne mod.

While you may not deserve the mod, you are so low, many others so and appreciate the work that modders do which keeps our tiny community alive.

And just to be clear, just cos theres one mod of the same era doesnt mean there cant be another one.   What if people wanted that era but dont like the physics or car models etc.  Then another mod comes along with physics or car models they like.    Its all about choices and the choices are free and no need to have restrictions on them. So just be glad you have them you bunch of ingrates.

I comented not so long ago in an MMG article, complaining about the lack of news about the 2008 mod. First of all, I hate FSOne 2008, that goddamn thing is so half-arsed that it makes me sick. When MMG had the old forum, before the current one, I applauded them there for the effort, and my thoughts are still the same. Please make it and make it properly.

But bear in mind that you’ve shown us so much material and renders and so on, we or at least I get impatient…considering it’s been 3 years since the 2008 season and the annoucement of this mod, perhaps my impatience isn’t so unjustified afterall, is it?

Please MMG, ignore haters and do this well…you’ll be surprised how much praise you will receive.

There was a big discussion in the MMG Audi A6 mod thread. That MMG only shows wips and people where asking about F1 2008. And now suddenly we see screens. Abit weird. Dont get me wrong its nice to see it (only think its to late, people are way more intrest in 2009 or 2010 cars). But its lol timing.

whys that? cuz theres more alonso shots and not hamilton? thats because hamilton’s car and heikki’s car are having paint fixed, it is in game, but as the paint isn’t final, we felt best not to show it yet.

Nah we’ve actually been meaning to release some news on it for awhile anyway. This year expect quite a bit of news on this car as well as others.

whos red mist? the main thing is like me and ray said, that we’ve already had alot of progress done and would be a waste to just toss it aside. if we only had maybe one or 2 models done it might not be so bad, but as most of the grid is modelled and painted and such, no sense in postponing it now you know. This year we’re lookin at a very busy and good year as far as mods and releases and such.

I played MMG 07 – which was gr8, I remember when only McLaren came out I spent many hours playing it.

MMG Thank you for the work – but this one seems pretty outdated now.

I do not see any use in downloading the mod, as FSONE 08 is awesome, at least this level.

Mirage stfu will you? They are doing this for free in their free time, so you are in no position to give any orders to anyone. This much time of development will give us mod as good as CTDP 06 or even better, if you dont want it and you prefer to play RFT, MG and other fast-date releases, then get the fu ck out of here.

Remember also how long CTDP took to finish their amazing 2006 mod.

FSOne08 may be out but just because they got there first doesnt mean MMG should give up on theirs.  It might be preferable for some people.   Again,  why the restrictions and who are you, or anyone, to assume you can impose any ?   
Be grateful for what you get, you’re not paying for it!
