Popular rFactor track maker Com8 has started a new project, working on bringing the German Mainz-Finthen airfield track to the simulation.
Located near the German city of Mainz, the former US Army Airfield was used as a DTM venue from 1984 until 1990. Below are first previews, once completed the track will also make its way to GTR2 and GTR Evolution.

Jessica, Darin & Shaun of InsideSimRacing.tv were recently joined by Image Space Incorporated's Gjon Camaj who visited the guys for an interview in an upcoming SRT episode. Virtua_LM has released new previews of another stunning track creation for rFactor, showing us new shots of the Japanese Fuji Speedway in late 80s specification. Located near the famous Mount Fuji in Oyama, Japan, Fuji Speedway was opened in 1963. The track was a popular venue for sports car races as the track was part of the FIA World Sports Car Championship for Group C prototypes from 1982 to 1988. Very nice! I was stationed there at Mainz/Finthen Airfield 1989-90 while serving in the US Army, and saw the ‘89 races there, my barracks room was just across the street from the track/flightline, this will definitely bring back some great memories. Looking good so far Com8, keep up the good work.

the crowd stood along the left side of the runway, behind the row of people were two provisory stands for about 100 people each – another spot to watch the race was in front of the pits, on the big concrete part of the track … you will see when i release the track!

What happened to your Race of Champions 2008 track project? Are you still working on it? Or not?
