After several impressive preview shots, Com8 has now released a first preview video of his Mainz-Finthen track for rFactor.
The video shows an on-board lap around the airfield circuit, narrated by former DTM driver Manuel Reuter.
Located near the German city of Mainz, the former US Army Airfield was used as a DTM venue from 1984 until 1990. Com8’s version will be modelled after the 1989 version of the DTM event, once completed the track will also make its way to GTR2 and GTR Evolution.

Virtua_LM has released new previews of another stunning track creation for rFactor, showing us new shots of the Japanese Fuji Speedway in late 80s specification. Located near the famous Mount Fuji in Oyama, Japan, Fuji Speedway was opened in 1963. The track was a popular venue for sports car races as the track was part of the FIA World Sports Car Championship for Group C prototypes from 1982 to 1988. Yes, one thing that striked me together with the quality of the track, is the photorealistic aspect of the video…either these guys play another rfactor than we common people
…or it’s a very good job of video editing! Can anyone share a light on the subject..preferable the authors..how can we achieve these graphical quality near photorealistic!

the video was recorded by filming the monitor with a sony hd cam, with a video edit software i just fine tuned the contrast and the colors slightly

If he’s testing in rFactor its the RaceX mod which is a direct rip of content from Race07. Then again, its suggested its being released for Race as well, so it might just be that. Hope I helped.

THANKS for the reply Com8…trully a genious work, one could easily travell in time, and thought seeing real footages of the DTM event!..i loved those times and think DTM was at his peak..both in terms of tracks, drivers and machinery..nice to give us a peace of history..it would be nice to have a dedicated mod that represented those times..tracks and cars…of course with this beauty and with some of the cars of my beloved TCL, we have a very good basis to spent our sim hours!

Don’t get me wrong, I love the Touring Car Legends mod, but Simbin really nailed the sounds in their rendition of this car and as such I can recognise it from afar. :P

Well, i wouldn’t be surprised that come8 just use the Race sound in the Touring car Legends mod, since everybody is using uofficial custom sounds, because the mod didn’t have sounds on it’s own.
Besides, i am almost sure the mode and livery comes from there.

Yes, in that dept Simbin, really did a GREAT job, but one have to notice that the resources that they had, are not comparable to TCL team, also the amount of cars portraited (M3 and Alfa 75) are nothing compared to the magnificent field of machines of TCL mod…oh well, better to have from what to choose, than the oposite…again Com8, the waiting will be “painfull”, but no doubt rewarding! MANY THANKS

You can get the 1987 E30 in the VLN 2005 mod too, however I’m not sure it uses the same sound pack, so in which case it would be a lost cause.
