Lola T280 UH1 for rFactor 2 – First Previews

After releasing several mods for rFactor, PIXSIM is moving on to rFactor 2 as the team will bring the Lola T280 UH1 to ISI’s newest simulation.

Below are a bunch of previews of the car at Sebring, showing off some very nice under the hood details. The team is aiming to release the mod in September after extensive testing has been completed.

The T280 was build to the Group 6 regulations for sports prototypes, the car is powered by a 3 liter Cosworth DFV engine, delivering 450hp.

the textures is so bad !

  • Matt Orr

Everything that is actually visible is covered up and not readily visible. It’s a way to save a considerable amount of time and some framerate by not using super awesome huge ass textures on something you likely will see a handful of times..

  • Alejandro Gorgal

Crazy detail on the engine, I wouldn’t know where to start..

  • hoodge1

    Pcars fan? Just wondering.

  • hoodge1

I think if too many look at Pcars and don’t quite understand that the Graphics portion of rF2 have not really been a priority right now will take it for what it is now. Model looks great. Problem with Pcars is it’s got the graphics, but FAR from the feel and tire modeling that rf2 is so amazing at..FEEL comes first. Graphics second.

Doesn’t bother me. It’s just so humourous for me to listen to Pcars fans compare this to Cars. Pcars will be probably done in less then 2 years like a Forza product. Gjon and team have been at rF2 for what? Almost 3 years. Definately shows.

  • Vivemclaren

Easy to criticize, But to make texture or 3D model….

  • Lemming77

I dunno about pCARS. It feels pretty solid to me, but it doesn’t run well on my PC, so my experience is limited. Same goes for RF2, as that runs even slower!

Although it’s worth noting that this is of quality that they’re confident showing off, I won’t be disappointed if that’s what it looks like when it’s finished. Looks just fine to me! Besides, the stuff under the bonet is stuff I don’t want to see. Because if I do see it, I’ll have bigger problems to worry about than the resolution! :P

  • Norman B

Hey Lemming, PCars is solid and to me it is much better in the physics dept… RF2 has a ways to go to catch to them IMO… It just feels right…

  • Norman B

    @hoodge1 I’m one of them…

Looks like rF1 :( Really don’t understand why to not use rf2 abilities to full extent.

  • http://twitter.com/MaXyM_SRPL Michał Kożusznik

And when they want to start work on gfx? When other titles jump in next technology? Gfx is improved for every 3 years. One year more and rf2 will be 2 technological ages behind other titles.

  • http://twitter.com/MaXyM_SRPL Michał Kożusznik

Forgot to mention, that rF2 gives already possibility to make look comparable to even shift. but modders must learn a bit about things like Fresnel. create more detailed models (polycount is critical for nowadays rigs) etc.

Wow what are you smoking LOL, you clearly have no understanding on the subject of vehicle dynamics if you think Project Cars is even close to rFactor 2, let alone as good as it, let alone better than it when it comes to modelling vehicle dynamics/physics. The only thing in the area of rF2 when it comes to physics/vehicle dyamics is netKar Pro.

You really should try to go do a 3 or 4 day race school thing at skip barber, derek daly, Jim Rusell, etc While your there, really try to push the car hard under corner entry, mid corner, exit, entry rotation, mid corner rotation, initial braking compression, constant balance and grip changes depending on load, throttle and brake position, adjusting the cars 4 corners of grip and limits by altering techniques, getting the last third of the braking phase just right as your about to rotate slightly into the apex, etc etc etc

When you are at that course and IF you push the car hard enough to get the proper feel of on/near the limit handling and vehicle dynamics characterstics like the ones I mentioned above, then im sure you will come to the same conclusion as many, that Project Cars is not even in the same category as rFactor 2 and Netkar Pro physics/vehicle dynamics wise, let alone just as good as them or let alone better than them.

Hopefully this changes as there is lots of time left for them, but for some reason Simbin was never the same after GT Legends, everyone knows even stock unmodded GTR2 was dumbed down, this is what scares me when it comes to the future of PCars, a claimed “hardcore sim” just like GTR2 “claimed” to be, but really it wasnt. It was in that perfect middle ground area of making people think it was hardcore because it was obviously much more hardcore than the console sims (simcades), this is probably why it made so much money too, perfect balance between making people think it was a true hardcore sim and playability/fun-ness/accessability. Its in that middle ground between simcades aka console “sims” like Forza/Granturismo and real true sims like rFactor 2, Netkar Pro, Assetto Corsa, etc.

Not all hobbyist have access to REAL cars for texture photographing purposes like professional game studios do. That alone makes huge difference. You should play GT and Forza titles, they have probably the best resources available for cars they reproduce in their games. …That is if you want drive 6700 different versions of one Toyota model.

RF2 as a long way to go to catch up pcars in the physics department?, no tyre model, no tyre wear no nothing?…..you better save me some of that kush you’re smoking, or stop using a gamepad to play your sims.
Well in that case, rf2 looks better than pcars then. :)

And just like sms, simbin will be using their own game engine, lets see if they can create good physics, like they did on their gmotor titles.

  • sebastian.saischowa

Yet they didn’t get the sounds right for about 90 % of the cars in their lineup, just general mashup of what a similar engine sounds if at all.
Let them have their 8 cars, 5 lap races with their glory graphics that has so less depth under their hood anyway.

Ahhhh MaXyM from SRPL, you guys have done some good work, making Gmotor look much better & current, hope your work carrys on in rfactor 2

  • Norman B

I’ve been sim racing since 1998 and use a wheel for all those years as well… I know what I’m feeling and I know what I like… I’m entitled to my opinion as well… AND, I quit smoking that stuff back in the early 70′s…

  • Norman B

Your entitled to your opinion as well…

  • Norman B

I respect your opinion, please respect mine… That’s what makes this screwed up world go round…

  • http://twitter.com/Touring_Pro TouringProSeries.com

Jesus guys, 90% of you embark on a sim/game better than this sim/game debate again. This news article is about the mod from PixSim! And on that subject, for details that normally won’t be visible on track, they are decent quality.

  • grincheux

    Hello,
I think you mix a little while …………….. and suddenly, it says just anything!!!! Why try and compare PCARS Rfactor2 while not all the same philosophy of play! criticism is justified but not easy ……….. it is certain that if you purchased a simulation for power of beautiful screenshots ………… the choice is quickly made …………… If you really want to have the best memories of driving, to make online championships from 20 to 30 cars, again the choice is quickly made, and for now there is no better than Rfactor. Remember that Rfactor 2 is still under development and it progresses rapidly …………….. he must wait.
Returning to this little Lola. Views that are above, are direct views of the game untouched and with the basic settings. Anyway, I can guarantee that the car is really as you see on these sceenshot because it is near my house, so I saw many, many times, taken all the pictures I wanted and which I used for the template ………………..
In short, in any case we will continue to have fun with this car is really awesome and very fun to drive … even in Rfactor…………….. and end up placing it in the game.
After all, if it does not interest you, whatever, you not only have to download it ………….
    Bye

  • jswarthoff

those tyres remind me of gp79 mod :)

  • Ricoo

It doesn’t look like an opinion but just trolling.

  • Ricoo

I agree it’s perfect quality for racing on track. I don’t mind 1 million poly model to win the best 10 million pixel screenshot award. lol

  • Norman B

I’m a bit old for adolescent behavior like that… The subject is closed as I see it, so who’s trolling?

  • Lemming77

Holy Batman, what have I started here!? D: All I wanted to do was make a goofy, sarcastic comment without sparking a long argument we’ve all seen a thousand times before on the Internet! Is that too much to ask? :(

Your grammar is so bad !

  • rui silva
