Logitech G25 Mod – Video

Logitech’s G25 steering wheel has become a popular modding platform for home-made steering wheels and other improvements. Here’s the newest example as Aracer48 has posted a video of his impressive setup.

He replaced the standard G25 wheel with a more realistic-looking wheel, including more buttons as well as a built-in LCD display featuring a rev-meter and gear indicator.

 yes dude, whats up with the gloves?

Yeah I used to find it funny watching people race sims with racing gloves on. Thought it was taking the fantasy a little too far.
However, I did buy some cycling gloves (yes for my bike) which I also sometimes use when sim-racing. The G25 wheel is a hard wheel with virtually no cushioning and I tend to grip it hard. So after a long run on the track, my hands will ache and sometimes I get cramps. The gloves help a little in cushioning my grip. In fact I could do with something more substantial but I don’t have the bottle to put actual race gloves on yet :) Not unless this RSI gets worse.

I figured the first post would rag on the gloves. I too have some gloves for real racing that I started using for simracing. Like F1Racer, I too have a death grip. The gloves let me loosen my grip. The G25 also has stitching in the stupidest places. You would never find seams like this on a real racing wheel. These seams eat your hands. I don’t get blisters with the gloves like I did without them. There is a reason why they wear them in real life. Why is it so hard for people to realize that the same reasons can apply to simracing.

Also, his wheel is suede. If you don’t wear gloves the oils in your hands will destroy the suede in no time.

Many times i use my full-fingered mtb-gloves… light ones of course, not any dh-gloves

Yeah ermax18, the stitching on the G25 is annoying. Inside of the thumbs is the worst I think. But with enough racing, although I don’t get full blown blisters, I do get hardening of the skin below each finger on the palms.
So my cut-finger gloves I wear for the longer periods behind the wheel help protect from this.

If people are racing full race distances, with the FFB some wheels can generate and the hardness of the G25, gloves make a lot of sense. As said, they are used in real life too and not just for fire protection.

and some people are getting sweating hands while racing
so the gloves absorb and protects the wheel.

wich mod and track is this btw??
