It was supposed to be announced a lot closer to the release (which is unknown) but there were gaming rigs with this track at the Rockingham BTCC race, so that kinda spilled out the secret.

I assume tyre physics & VW Scirocco and this S3-Rockingham patch will be separate patches.

Rockingham is a fantastic circuit which offers a good driving challenge and gives many overtaking opportunities.
I was there at the weekend watching the BTCC and support races – all of which were fantastic – and I can tell you now there were more people than you seem to realise. Both main and turn 1 grandstands were full, with a large number of people on the infield and paddock. I would say at least 20,000 people attended on the race day, which considering it was the Goodwood festival that day, is a very good number indeed – especially for BTCC racing.

I’m afraid I actually agree with Andrew. Of all the tracks in the UK, Rockingham must be the worst.

Still, a real track for LFS is good news.

You know, you’re right. When I think road racing in the UK, Rockingham shoots right to the front of my mind. It’s an iconic British circuit with decades of history. Bernie should move the British GP there, not Donington.

In fact, who needs tedious, vanilla, sanitized circuits like Silverstone, Brands Hatch, Oulton Park, Snetterton, Thruxton, Donington Park, Cadwell Park and Castle Combe when you have the glorious roval at Rockingham?

Bottom line: The man is entitled to his opinion of Rockingham. I’m happy LFS is finally offering a licensed track, but I share Andrew’s opinion of Rockingham.

This is a step forward but LFS still has some progress to make before I buy an S3 license, one car and one track won’t cut it yet. We’ll see how good the new tyre physics are.

Watching the TV coverage of this week’s Touring Car racing from there I see I’m not the only one who thinks that way. There seemed to be more people on the track than in the crowd. :->
Still, any LFS news is better than none. And those screenshots do look pretty impressive. I may be forced to dust off S2 and allow myself to start looking forward to S3 again.

CSR helps a little but is not a good fix as it only changes the player’s engine noise and doesn’t work in replays.

@Felipe. Im not sure but i think yes. Every update pack will cost you money, but not as much as you would pay for a complete new game…

If you look closely, you’ll notice the “corruption” is actually lots of dots. Laser scanning doesn’t just magically give you a contoured race track, you do it bit by bit.

Screenshot 3, 4 and 5 are somehow corrupted? Good news from LFS! Just what I needed after the disappointing release of shift.

I think those are just some screenshots out of the editor. The devs mentioned that not only did they get the positions of an object, but also it’s color :)

I wasn’t considering getting the S3 license, but I may reconsider now .
