Lienz for rFactor 2 – First Previews

Mario Morais is working on bringing one of the most legendary rFactor tracks to ISI’s newest simulation – The Lienz Festival of Speed.

The fictional track was part of rFactor’s stock content and quickly gathered a cult following among rFactor users. Set in Austria, the track comes with a road racing course and off road tracks to put a car through all kinds of tests.

You can check out first previews of the conversion below, showing the classical track in the new environment.

Is there anyway you can use Parallax Occlusion Mapping (POM) on the bricks? Would make a HUGE difference, well not when driving I guess, but for all the video and screenshot whores out there.
Parallax Mapping is amazing, if you have ever noticed the difference with it on and off in Crysis and Crysis 2 you would know what I am talking about.
I dont know why more games dont use this, it doesnt actually build more polygons as it’s just graphical and not physical, so it doesnt affect frames that much, but looks soooo good.

rf2 don’t have Parallax shader and the cobblesstone use the Real road Shader to get the road effects.

Oh, well the cobble stone looks like a flat peice of paper in the preview pictures above, is the only way to make it look 3d is to actually model it in 3d???

First of all: Lienz is not part of rFactor’s stock content. It is content of a free dlc, which was released around half a year after the original rFactor release.

Second, does he have the rights to make this conversion? Maybe ISI plans to release this by theirselfs?

  • Dave Robinson

Are ISI not going to release any of their other tracks from RF1 in the future?

  • IWE

At least Lienz was included in my original rFactor DVD. (v1.225)

  • Ron Sandrin

Looks very promising! Will be a very welcome addition to rF2. Keep up the good work.
    For those who doubt:

Lienz was added by ISI in an early updated version of the game. This is not quite the same as free DLC which is optional as a separate download. Lienz became part of the whole sim. It then belongs to the rFactor package even though it wasn’t included in the first version.

Would be a great addition to rF2 with some an “open” road track!

    Keep up the good work!!
