Back in August, a new vehicle for the Life for Speed simulation had been announced – The VW Scirocco.
The car will be available during the third week in December, ending Friday 19th. Below is a first presentation video of the car as well as a download link to CMX viewer for those who want to paint their own car in advance or take a look at the 3D model.
Live for Speed racers will be required to have a S1 or S2 license to drive the car once it’s out.

i wish they would just make LFS open source modible, id consider buying it then lol. A nice installer and interface would make this much better.
*sorry im not a LFS fanboy, just not really into LFS, its quit unattractive compared to other sims*

Its fine, as far as LFS is concerned a lot of people just dont “get it”. Fictional cars (exceptions apply ofcourse), fictional tracks, and lack of modability arent particularly appealing but for me it has a far better feel than any ISI sim. And its a blast online just like rfactor, without the mismatches
I do enjoy ISI sims, realfeel adds to the realism immensely, and a lot of the mods are pretty amazing work but for me LFS and iRacing definitely has the edge in the physics department.

hypertek: perhaps you find it “unattractive” because it’s the only sim right now with a realistic physic (excluding the lucrative oriented iracing based on ns2003).
for most of the ppl who really tried all the sims on the market to the core, lfs has the most realistic physic out there.
It doesn’t have the great interface of rfactor (insert sarcasm emoticon here), but a sim is about physic, not about graphics, and the developpers at lfs understood that since the beginning.
ask anyone who played that game for years, the alpha S1 of 2002 had a better feeling then anything the gmotor has to offer, maybe with the exception of some good mods like the corvette3.0 on rfactor.. who behave surprisingly similar to cars of the same class in lfs.
Before bashing a sim, play it peoples. especially if you’re searching a real simulation.. in lfs: you have to do the driving.
simulation = emulate something real.
that was my two cents. and i wont reply to anyone who hasn’t played it deeply, like ive done.

LFS had the best physics and online racing for a long time. I put over 20,000 laps and 50,000 miles into it, much of it in league races. But ever since I started iRacing, I haven’t been able to get back into it. It just feels lifeless and artificial to me now. This is a very sad thing that I’m still trying to fully comprehend. I don’t know how much of the difference is real vs. perceived.

Is there a master plan for LFS? Is it ever going to be opened for modding? I have always be very impressed with the FFB and handling but really wish it had more content. I can deal with the frictional cars but the lack of tracks is what really bugs me. Fictional tracks isn’t a bad thing either as long as there are enough of them. I guess I need to dust of my license and give this new car a test drive.
I also love the web based timing and scoring page LFS has. You know, the one that lets you select any server and then get a track map and with the little cars that go around. You can see the orientation of the cars and everything. I suspect most people aren’t even aware of that stuff. Check it out here:

what i don’t get with LFS is this you drive a road car then drive the tune version and even the F1 car the all feel the same SOFT Feel!! just not write the road cars with that soft feel thru G25 wheel is great but when i jump into the F1 car i get the same feel just hard to drive this is where GTR2.GTR EVO.rFactor steps apart!

It’s a GOOD thing that LFS isn’t open for modding.
Modding is the blessing and curse of rFactor and the GTR/RACE family. Well-designed and built free mods add so much value to those games, but they are far outnumbered by the crap mods and tracks released for both. But that’s what you get in a mod community, which resembles the wild, wild West — anything goes.
Scawen, Eric and Victor are painstaking as hell about the quality of their mods and tracks, and frankly, I don’t think they want to open up their baby to such wild inconsistencies.
Those who are accustomed to seeing a new mod per week in rFactor simply can’t understand why Scavier (Scawen, Victor and Eric) only release one or two updates per year for LFS. It’s because they take all the time needed to do it right, to match the quality of the rest of the game.
And LFS is pure quality, online and offline. Fantastic physics, nice graphics and a fine selection of cars and tracks, insane stat track and replay analysis, solid online community with races occurring all the time.
Try the demo. At first, you’ll find the physics odd if you’re used to the “black ice” handling model of rFactor and Simbin sims. But after a few laps, you’ll slap yourself upside the head and wonder why you didn’t try this game sooner.

Oh, almost forgot: This Scirocco looks racy as hell. Can’t wait to drive and race it! :)

@Tifose
I do agree with you on that, the open-wheelers in LFS have never been its strength. From what Ive seen so far, it seems to support the road and gt cars far better. Hopefully the LFS gang improve that aspect in the near future.
Like I said before though, a properly made rfactor car aint half bad and in that case its only really when you go over the limit that you notice the flaws in the physics engine.

@Forza, Tifose:
I agree that the higher-powered open wheelers aren’t the strength of LFS. But the Formula BMW’s are a delight to drive — much better than the FBMW’s in rFactor.

Tifose: i agree also. i drive lfs for the weight transfer feeling, the braking and so on. But with open wheel cars i prefer the good bunch of mods that we have on rfactor.
as for the gt cars to me it’s the most accurate feeling in any sim (as i said i haven’t played iracing). some peoples are saying that lfs is too easy to drive, well driving a car is not a hard thing either.. it gets hard only when you try to push to the limits and this is where i love this game.
that said my commitment has been very harsh with the good mods rfactor provides these days.. but every time i take it back and i brake into a corner i say to myself: oh.. this is it.
for those who never really played it please give it a try. as ermax18 said you even have your stats online :)
there is one thing this game need badly tough.. new blood. and still no news of S3
oh i provide you a lil gift that i found, for those who like the bloom effect in rfactor and so on. here’s the spot to find the same plugin for lfs http://www.lfsforum.net/showthread.php?t=41775&page=2
it make the game much better in my opinion

tarnakman, Thanks for the link to the HDR plugin. This thread is much more informative then the rFactor threads.

its a pleasure, i just found that plugin 2 days ago.
the hdr is kinda hard to tweak tough.. so ive just uploaded my custom version for those you might be interested (the other one had way too much bloom imo)
http://files.filefront.com/HDR+for+LFS+tweaked+Tarnanrar/;12640239;/fileinfo.html
and also the high resolution pack in case you dont have it already http://www.lfs-database.com/index.php?categoryid=2&p13_sectionid=82&p13_fileid=410
perhaps we could introduce lfs to Montoya? it would be nice to have a race all together. Even in the demo mode it could be interesting.

seeing the looks of the game and having your comment of “high quality only for new ingame content” in mind – i can only laugh. the game looks pretty crappy, just from a modelers point of view. the models are low detail, especially the interiors. the tracks look dull, empty but way too saturated in terms of textures. and the are afraid of crappy mods to ruin this? yeah right…
i allways respected lfs for it’s great physics, but never got into it due to it’s very, very fanboy-esque and clan-oriented, ego shooter style community and the crappy graphics.
i know what’s coming now, if you even care to reply: a bunch of bashing posts stating that i just “don’t get the game”. well i think i do. and i hate it.

no one will bash you.. it’s like when i play operation flashpoint and some kid keep telling me that the game suck cause of the dated graphics.. and halo3 rules..
every one has it’s own intelligence i guess.. and if you can’t drive these cars.. oups..
yeah halo3 rocks, president bush had 2 mandate, britney is millionaire, and you rock.

Weopm you have reason with respect to the fanboys.
The LFS is a good game, have good physics (are not perfect, not revolutionary, are only good
), has a very good netcode, it is very easy to configure; but the tracks are boring, most of the cars are unreal, the sound sucks, the graphics are ugly, has thousands of bugs.
I hope that with the S3 improve these aspects as they are the weak point
