Leo’s FFB Tuner – Feedback Wanted

Kosmo is working on a new application that manages settings for Leo’s FFB plugin for rFactor, aiming to make working with the plugin more comfortable.

His application will come with matching settings for all major mods, you can check out a first preview shot of the app below.

Kosmo is looking for feedback regarding the functionality, the UI and wanted features from the community. So if you use Leo’s FFB plugin, make sure to leave him some feedback in the comments.

This is long overdue and will be huge if Kosmo can pull this off. Best of luck, Kosmo, and THANK YOU!

So the biggest problem for me is every time i want to change from a car to another, to copypaste the LeoFFB.Text file.

The same happen when chaging mod. I thing you have to work around in hotkeys maybe…..

  • FS

Great idea. A download-link might help to get more feedback though.

  • Kosmo

Thanks for the comments guys. If someone knows what all the settings for Leo FFB do, I’d really appreciate the info as some of them are quite vague.

I’m not sure, but I think that you need to exit at least the current session (if not the game completely) before the changes will take effect, so it might not really work with hotkeys. I’ll try to look into that though, but probably after release.

FS: Great idea. A download-link might help to get more feedback though.

    Sure, once it’s ready

I just want to know what you guys would like to see in the app, what you would consider useful. You can get a basic idea of how it works right now from the screenshot.

  • Raikku

I’ve always used one basic setting. Of course with little differences in F1-rFactor or in stock car-rF.

But still use only this, never liked Realfeel, not with G25 or with my present GT3 RS.

    I have a lot of ini’s.
Let me know if anybody wants them?

The problem is really that we’re not sure which ‘slip angle’ to use?
    Longitudinal or Lateral?

And yes,you have to exit rFactor before you can use a new Leo.

    You might find this usefull….

MystaMagoo, thanks for the link, already seen that though and it’s not much help. Slip angle should be lateral.

Also, you will be able to import all your ini files in the app’s database very easily.

Kosmo, yes I have old forgotten info for this that most ppl missed to begin with.
Gonna be a day or so.
    Busy.

Ah, ok, missunderstanding from my side then.
I am also using one basic setting for all mods at the moment, mainly due to lack of knowledge and lazyness. (Mainly lazyness). So at least I can say that I will very much appreciate this tool and the set of default settings. If I’m not mistaken, you actually included buttons to read the needed values directly from the mod-files as well? Something I always wondered why the plugin doesn’t do it by itself. Nice, so there is not much more functionality to ask for I guess!
It will become difficult though when using mods with very different cars (like the CSGT for example) … I like to switch from a 911 to a 917 during a fun-session, so automatic switching of settings (like in RealFeel) would be great of course … or at least switching without leaving the game. But I guess that depends more on the plugin itself (when it checks the .ini settings). If you find a workaround to make it happen (like Alt-tab from the rfactor-menu, choose new .ini, press “re-initialise Leo’s FFB” button …), this would be great of course. No idea if that’s possible though.
Anyway a great tool that will really improve the usage of the plugin!

It’s easy enough already for me as I just cut/paste my needed ini into the plugins folder.

What’s great about your app is the ability to be able to read the info need :)

    Can’t edit my post :(

    @FS
Unfortunately it’s not possible to be able to change Leo mid game :(
You definitely have to exit rFactor and change the ini.

Thanks Kosmo for the ‘Lateral’ info :D

Yep, that was one of the most important things that I wanted to implement.
Mind you, it doesn’t read all the settings used by Leo’s plug-in, as many of them are user-preference. It does read the ones that are car/mod-specific though.

    FS:
If you find a workaround to make it happen (like Alt-tab from the rfactor-menu, choose new .ini, press “re-initialise Leo’s FFB” button …), this would be great of course.

It is already working like that, all you’d need to do is leave the app running, start rF, then whenever you want to change settings: alt-tab, double click the mod you want in order to load it’s settings in the app, then click activate. All in all, 3 clicks. But, MystaMagoo says you definitely need to exit rF first so…

Not that your method is especially difficult (that’s what I used to do too), but you still need to navigate folders and copy/paste, and also probably keep a large amount of .ini files. It should be even easier with this (it is for me at least).

Thanks Kosmo for the ‘Lateral’ info :D

    Sure

I know, I used that for a while, but for me it wasn’t very intuitive, I thought it could be done better (easier). That one was actually my “inspiration” to make this though, so thanks Omega!
