iOpener has just announced to have signed a mystery race driver that will be joining their Real-Time Racing game beta test as RTR beta testers get the chance to virtually compete against the driver at Circuit Zolder.
The identity of the driver has not yet been revealed but iOpener describes him as world-wide known driver who is currently inactive and will be making his comeback with Real-Time Racing. Any guess who it could be?
If you don’t want to miss your chance to race against the mysterious pro, make sure to pre-register for a RTR beta key here.
In related news, the Real-Time Racing news items now have their very own category here on VirtualR, including a category RSS-feed where you can subscribe to the RTR stories. Simply follow the “RTR” link in the category bar at the top.

It cant be Jacques Villenueve, as he claims realistic racing games are boring.

grrr I hate half a story.
“Got some great news today !… meh, but I’m not gonna tell you what it is”
ooh the mystery and suspense, I can’t take it
So far ppl have gone for F1 drivers. I’m not sure it will be, but would be cool if it was.

The Stig’s sim-racing cousin?
Agree with F1Racer, doubt it will be a F1 driver.

it’s not an f1 driver (at least no big one) they would tell us that directly. Schumi haha this would be in the tv news

The driver is making their comeback in a video game? Must not have been that great of a driver to begin with

ok so Nelson Piquet Jr, Ricardo Rossett or Sebastian Bourdais maybe ? :)
I would love it to be Alex Zanardi but he’s still active isn’t he ?
Can’t be Montoya cos his head is still broken…..
Maybe a BTCC or GT driver.

I’d say Jos Verstappen. iOpener initiative was made by Dutchmen. The whole game is based in Belgium.
Jos Verstappen lives in Belgium
Jos is inactive atm

It’s supposed to be a “world-wide known driver”, which would exclude Verstappen ofcourse…

My first thought was also Jos Verstappen. He lives only a few miles/km away from the Zolder track.

No but seriously Jos Verstappen seems a pretty good gues to me, having been a formula one driver kind off qualifies you as being world-wide known in my book. But he is kinda still “active”, being in this years 24 hours of le mans, then in wouldn’t really be a “comeback to the track”

Yeah but Verstappen is hardly ‘legendary’ is he. Maybe only in Belgium.

My first thought was Verstappen too. Maybe that’s because I’m Dutch though, I don’t know.
He’s Dutch, not Belgian!

well, a totally different answer to most you guys but my theory is based on 2 real world drivers who i think are inactive at the moment but they are also avid sim racers already that is quite well known,
1. David Grecko
2. Sean Edwards
Either of those 2.

He’s from Limburg, which makes him more Belgian than Dutch if you ask me…

Yes I know, calm down. I didn’t say he was Belgian. I said he might be popular there after someone said he lived there.

I doubt its an F1 driver. I think it’ll be a sportscar driver or something, Tom Kristensen? He pretty bloody famous.
