Laguna Seca LIDAR for rF2 – New Previews

Mario Morais has released new previews of his ambitious Laguna Seca track project for rFactor 2.

Mario is working with LIDAR laser-scan data to maximize accuracy and his latest progress looks promising indeed.

The 2.2 mile track is located in western California and is one of North America’s most prestigious road courses. The circuit hosts an annual Moto GP round as well as ALMS and Rolex Series sports car races, highlight of the layout is the stunning corkscrew corner.

Awesome , I think Laguna seca is a really enjoyable track to drive and its design seems to really facilitate interesting racing.

    Unacceptable!

And MotoGP does not list Laguna Seca on the 2014 provisional calendar. Which is odd since IIRC the contract was to race at LS through 2014.

Careful, or the Rolex stormtroopers will come beat you up for mangling the name!

  • Mario Morais

The track is fun because is bumpy.

Hey Mario, I know this is a bit off topic and I understand English is not your first language but have you ever thought of translating your awesome 8part BTB tutorial series to English? Even if it is just text that would be amazingly helpful as it seems as though you know how to bring a google earth shot to life very well. Anyways it was just a suggestion since just watching them for the video and not understanding the speech has been helpful for me.

Best regards and thanks for your support of the sim community.

    BTB tutorials? What tutorials?

Actually. The Rolex series of races still exists and will continue to do so. ALMS and Grand-AM on the other hand is now the TUDOR USCC. Both of which fall under the International Motor Sports Association(IMSA). You can watch the Rolex 24 at Daytona this up coming Jan 25th.

TUDOR is a Rolex brand, and the 24h is the only individual race Rolex sponsored. What’s commonly referred to as Grand-Am was actually the Rolex Sports Car Series.
