Folllowing the popular rFactor and GTR2 versions, Com8 has now released the GTR Evolution version of Laguna Seca 1.2.
Based on Codemasters’ Laguna Seca, Com8’s version is by far the best available, including new textures, buildings, cameras and much more.
Features:
- updated curbs (new modeled and remapped) to 2008 spec
- remapped track surface
- retextured many parts of the track (infield/outside etc.)
- new modeled buildings
- new trackcams by Thorsten Rueter
- added ALMS version with nightlights and adboards
- custom skies for daylight by 6e66o
- added ambient sounds
- fixed flickering ads on bridges by remapping
- fixed tree popup on hill
- smoothened tree materials
- reworked sandtraps and gravelpits
The 2.2 mile track is located in western California and is one of North America’s most prestigious road courses. The circuit hosts an annual Moto GP round as well as ALMS and Rolex Series sports car races, highlight of the layout is the stunning corkscrew corner.

Anyone know how to add this mod to the Steam version of GTR:Evo?
On most simbin games you usually just drag and drop, say a new track mod into the Gamedata/Locations directory of the game.
The Steam version of GTR:Evo however, doesn’t have that “structure”
The game on Steam consists of just a single, huge file–with a .gcf extension.
How do you mod it?

you have to create the folder structure manually just like in the gcf files, dont have the steam version so i’m not 100% sure how it has to look…

ok, look for this folder “Steam\SteamApps\youraccountname\race 07″ then creat “GameData\Locations” and throw Laguna Seca in there!

That did it–Thanks!!!
I completely forgot that GTR:Evo, Race 07, and STCC: The Game all use the same folder for mods.

Sorry for a silly question, but is Com8 and Custom8 the same?
I’m a bit confused.
I know that Custom8 releases tracks and doesn’t allow people to use them online (Jyllandsringen), so I wanted to know if we can use this one.
Also, there’s a Laguna Seca in SimBin quality coming in Race On. I can’t wait !

no, Com8 is just me – ofcourse you can use the track – that’s why i released it in the end!

Lol ok, sorry I had to ask because Com8 is like Custom8 without “ust”.
And they release tracks but forbid people to use them online…

What is that all about? How is that policed anyway?

Stabiz> Download Jyllandsringen and read the EULA carefully, you’ll see what I’m talking about.
I know that GTR-Online.com had to stop using it because it is a donation based league, and that is apparently a no go in the EULA when money is in the equation.

No Custom8 creates scratch build original tracks and com8 converts from other developers :(
Strange that this is still allowed

From your nick I gather you are Danish (brøleape), Jyllandsringen is a Danish track … Sooo, you are either Custom8 or one of his henchmen. Anyway, thats a cheap shot.

Thanks for updating this great track. Only pitty is that the AI, like most addon tracks for evo, is too slow and often run out of fuel or pit in the last lap of the race.

Ooh conspiracy :) No not at all stabiz, just don’t like the fact that we still don’t get that this illegal converting has to stop. Don’t think that Codemasters ever gave permission for a conversion. So thanking them is nice, but still doesnt make it right.
Ill wait for the RACE On Laguna version

I followed the instructions on installing Laguna Seca into a Steampowered GTR Evo game by placing the downloaded track file inside a folder called “locations” which was created inside another folder in the following: “Steam\SteamApps\youraccountname\race 07″ then creat “GameData as instructed above… but I don’t see the track appearing for selection inside the game anywhere. What am I doing wrong?
Thanks
