In a recent interview with Autoweek Magazine, Gran Turismo creator Kazunori Yamauchi revealed some very interesting infos on the upcoming Gran Turismo 5 title for Playstation 3 and the franchise’s future.
Yamauchi confirms that Gran Turismo 6 is already planned, even though the fifth installment of the series is still five months away from hitting the shelves in Japan. According to the creator, the development time for the next title will be much shorter as it will be using base components from Gran Turismo 5.
Furthermore, he confirms that even though Sony holds the NASCAR license for Gran Turismo 5, the title will only include selected cars and tracks from the Sprint Cup Series. Also mentioned for the first time is the possibility to “reverse your game”, indicating that Gran Turismo 5 will include a rewind mode that can be found in many modern racing titles.
When asked about the production costs of Gran Turismo 5, Yamauchi estimates that 60 million dollars have been spent on the title’s development. Even though some car manufacturers were willing to pay to see their cars in the game, the studio has never accepted money from car makers. Gran Turismo 5 will be released in Japan in March 2010, a release date for the rest of the world has not yet been announced.

if march 2010 is 2015 for you you better find some help! unlike some other game which was rushed full of bugs not yet fixed running in the old game engine with unfinished cockpits and few cars while the rest will come as payed dlc
I more than happy with GT5 release date

I wonder if the NASCAR issue is due to some teams licensing their cars for Forza 3, or are they from a different NASCAR series?

The stock cars in Forza 3 are generic, unpainted Chevy,Ford & Dodge stock cars that are used in other series outside of NASCAR too.

weird but thank you for your sincerity but someone like you can’t effort not to have the leading console for console sim racing! even a hater or 360 fanboy in your position all have it at least for been updated!

I´m getting a PS3 as soon as Gran Turismo is out, why would I want to have a console sitting here to collect dust for the next 4-6 months?
And it’s a bit far-fetched to call the PS3 the leading console for sims. You have GT, Supercar challenge on PS3 and Forza & Race Pro on the Xbox 360 – As well as Need for Speed Shift on both.
I’d say its split up pretty evenly right now, with the exception that Forza is acutally available.

you forgot to mention Ferrari Challenge PS3 exclusive
while Race Pro is what hum I think I play those cars in some pc title but much better graphics and gameplay! See Forza 3 sales numbers and check PS3 sim sales!
Eutechnyx is working in a new ps3 exclusive while enhancing their PS3 engine some of the cars are BMW M5, M6, BENTLEY SPEED 8, TVR. Just a few details… the next game will have pit-stops, tyre wear and temperature which affects performance, brake wear, tire blow outs, optional damage affecting handling, fuel management… and the game won’t be rushed!
Also they have a in car weight transfer physics which I never saw up to this date in any pc sim! I would thank that for the Cell and its SPUs! Bruno Senna does the testing for them and they get real data from manufactures so I safely bet my money on them! Also worth mentioning they were the ones who did 24 hours of Lemans for pc few years ago! Watch this game you will find yourself playing this game way more than GT5!
Anyway good to know sooner or later you will join the party!

played ferrrari challenge, it’s mediocre at best. it feels like an old skool arcade game, comes not even close to PC titles…
gt5 prologue on the other hand is very good…

So this game might be realeased in europe few weeks before christmas 2010, doesnt matter if it is finished or not.
Wasnt it GT3 wich wasnt possible to complete at all because makers of the game forgot to change some things after removing some event(s) from europeam version. And then PS fans are telling Forza3 beeing unfinished.
@felipe: Turn10 will release carpack for Forza3 for free on next week tuesday and it is not going to be last one. Also for GT5 there is going to be dlc packages for free and also some costing ones. According to rumours big part of those “1000″ cars are going to be missing from release version and beeing released later.

The original 1.0 US release of GT2 had a maximum completion of 98.3% or so, because drag racing was omitted at the last minute. The game was soon re-released with the bug fixed, and it never affected the other regions. Hardly ‘unfinished’.

I have the Greatest Hits disks of Gran Turismo 2. On my PC, I run it at high resolution with many different filters that make it look like a Dreamcast game as opposed to a jaggy PS1 game. Hint: use the epsxe emulator.
Gran Turismo 2 is the only GT title I own, and I like it better than Shift for the PC. GT2 is more fun, has no noticeable bugs, and it has a great user interface, especially for a console game.
