The Pits are working on bringing the Jacksonville Road Course to rFactor, adding one of the United State’s most popular tracks to the simulation.
Hiding behind the fictional Jacksonville name is of course Daytona International Speedway. It’s road course hosts the annual Rolex 24 Hour race, one of the world’s most important endurance event.
Plenty of previews of the five-kilometer roval track can be checked out below, including working night-lighting for proper endurance racing feeling.

modders said it is a fantasy track with some differences from the real thing not just a fictional name. Bit confusing now

Fictional tracks = efforts down the drain

There’s already a well done, perfectly functional Daytona Road Course available for rFactor… So I’m not sure of the point one way or another, especially if they made up some “differences”…

“Fictional tracks = efforts down the drain”
I firmly disagree with that statement. If it is a track you drive in real life then this could hold true. But considering most tracks in rFactor are tracks we will never drive in real life then they all could be considered fictional. There are a ton of fictional tracks in rFactor that are extremely fun. Don’t be so closed minded.

In ThePits forum, the track author claims to have tried to replicate Daytona’s Road Course indeed. He is also the guy who did the current N2003 and wanted to do a better version.
Check it out: http://www.thepits.us/board/viewtopic.php?f=8&t=15094&start=0
As Pandamasque, I’m also not a fan of fictional tracks, but this one will be fictional only in name.

Interesting.
I don’t agree with tigeraid when he says we’ve already got a Daytona, so why another, however I do think that if we already have a “poor” representation of DaytonaRC (for ISI sims – there’s an authentic one elsewhere), why another poor version. There’s always a place for a vastly improved version i.e. what Virtua LM did when doing Mid Ohio and Lemans even though they already existed. And also what they are doing now in attempting to produce a much more accurate Sebering to replace the rather poor versions currently existing.
Proof of this is that it seems the most popular track for people releasing previews of a mod is VLM Mid Ohio. That shows there’s a need for high quality tracks on the ‘other side’ of the sim world.

Gotta say though…looking at this
http://www.realracin.net/jacksonville_rc_01.gif and some of the screenshots on page2 at thepits, this really looks like an upgrade to what is available for rFactor (and hopefully he’ll convert for the other isi stuff). I could care less if it says Jacksonville in the grass – as long as other things fall in place – and I’m a hard@55 when it comes to rating tracks!

this is what the author says at rfactorcentral.com “It was laid out with Daytona RC in mind, but does not follow it to a Tee”
